There is enough out there already spreading fear and derision

Says Mishy, who comes to this board and laughs about male violence against women.

Quite - which I why I value their contributions to this board.

It's all out there for everyone to see, much like a flasher in a mac who thinks they are clever hiding in plain sight in front of their chosen target wanging their willy around but has failed to notice the cctv.

PopGoesTheProsecco · 26/04/2023 22:18

Thanks Mishy for piquing my interest which encouraged me to watch the film.

Am half way through and think I identify as a MERF.

It’s probably a good thing as it stops social contagion of terfness to the general population. There is enough out there already spreading fear and derision

No, it gets news coverage that makes TRA's looked unhinged, aggressive and unreasonable.....and ultimately gets people to come to a conclusion that women have a point in wanting to retain single sex spaces given the poor standards of behaviour of those advocating for them open to men.

Frankly as distressing being on the receiving end of such protests can be, they don't detract from the GC cause, they amplify it - significantly.

The whole "vulnerability" narrative loses all gravitas in the face of screaming, masked, aggressive activists with signs threatening to kill/hurt women and people are watching and listening.

You might not be willing to read the room, but there is a fair to middling chance I'd say that despite the total incompetence of the Tory administration, that the Labour Party will lose the next GE precisely because they refuse to distance themselves from an ideology that increasingly more and more people are becoming aware of and think is utter self indulgent wankary.

Why does the BBC call it a Trans film? It is about women.

Because the BBC are finally so confused at what is the correct thing to say they are now just talking complete gibberish

ArabeIIaScott · 26/04/2023 21:46

PopGoesTheProsecco · 26/04/2023 21:27

Sorry - kind of new on this board.

is this the film they were going to show? I just Googled the title and it came up with this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=94HFMSm-JBo

It does the exact opposite, Mishy, and makes women even more determined to publicise the film.

Hey Mishy, you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind, Hey Mishy!

MmePoppySeedDefage · 26/04/2023 21:14

Well derision is true, given this clown-like behaviour by the kiddies...

Write to Peter Mathieson, the Principal - but he's committed to being useless. I would suggest also sending a copy of whatever you write to Professor Kim Graham, the Provost. She's fairly new in post (it's a new position in fact) and it's not yet clear whether she's useless, but she may not be.

Thankyou!

Absolute travesty. Is there anywhere Edinburgh graduates are organising on this? Not that I’m in a position to do anything much- but it is shameful.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/04/2023 18:26

Letter of complaint will be going to my alma mater tomorrow - who's the best person to address, and what are the best academic buzzwords to get in so that it is taken seriously?

When we saw it in London there were no TRAs present at all. So weird that they have now got on top of this and so bloody sad.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 26/04/2023 17:26

"Cabaret against hate" just seem to be making lots of misogynist comments about women's age and looks.

Oh really I'm shocked and surprised by that is everyone else shocked and surprised

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 26/04/2023 17:30

Darn I didn't realise it was planned for today, would have booked in if I'd known. But if it's cancelled anyway Sad
