Ireland has a very bad reputation in relation to Mental Health institutions. I've read over time that a lot of people in Irish prisons are mentally disturbed but not mentally ill. The women in Limerick would be very very marginalised. In for petty stuff like repeat shop lifting to feed drug habits. They would be mostly very poor women who have abuse relationships with men. They don't have a voice.

Ireland does not have a Broadmoor. It has the Central Mental Hospital. But you have to be assessed by doctors as mentally ill in order for a judge to order you into the CMH. Also Barbie did not use insanity as a defense in court. He's not mentally ill but he is highly disturbed because of his horrifically abusive childhood. It's a good thing he's not in the CMH because you can be discharged from there if you are not deemed after a time to no longer be mentally ill.

Nancy Friday's books years ago recorded that rape fantasies were not uncommon in women. I don't remember violent ones being included, however fantasising isn't the same as being up for actually experiencing it.

I think the violent porn reference may be a lost-in-translation version of something I saw about pornhub - that the violent porn category was the most popular category of searches among women. Sounds superficially similar but is very different. I don't think they said how many of their users were women. And of course, their definition of women is "porn users who identify themselves as women on a survey".... no one here needs the implications of that spelled out.

(Another thing to consider: my understanding is that the most violent porn is shown to the heaviest users as the algorithm escalates, though I haven't got citations for that on hand. Whatever proportion of porn users actual women are, they are likely to be a much smaller proportion of the heaviest most addicted users.)

It seems to a certain degree that men and women internalise abuse differently, which may partly be social conditioning. I don't know.

That article about Helen McEntee's iditotic decision is just another example of why the Irish GRA is such an incredibly bad piece of legislation. They keep differentiating between male and female but don't acknowledge that the Irish law allows males to "become" females with the stroke of a pen, they're making a distinction that they legislated themselves out of. Its not just gender recognition its false sex recognition

The fact that the Minister was consulted before BK was sent to the womens prison means that self ID doesn't work when it comes to prisons because everyone involved is too afraid to say no lest they be set on by the woke mob. Female guards have been put in serious danger for months because of this.

Also the focus being on prisons is such a red herring, what happens when BK gets out should every womens space have to accommodate BK.

I don't remember who said it, but it was a lawyer who said that the risk assessment only involves the danger to the prisoner from other prisoners, not the risk they pose towards other prisoners.

So the assessments look into how the man is safe from the women, not ever how the women are in danger from the man.

@CordyLines they are waking up alright, I've been emailing for the best part of two years voicing my concerns about women's single sex spaces & the proposed national curriculum changes, over the past 6 weeks I've been receiving replies from TDs, one minister & I also had a phone call last week. They are waking up, it definitely is worth emailing, phoning them, leaving voicemails or speaking with their aides who answer their personal office lines. They are starting to listen. They know if they don't they're out.
