With respect, you're mistaken. I have absolutely no problem with Mulvaney being trans, or 'different'.

I have a whole lot of problem with highly misogynist, sexist, mocking behaviours, regardless of the sex or gender choices of the person making them. It's the behaviour that is the problem, not the identity.

I have no problem tolerating the identity at all. I have every problem tolerating the behaviour. I'll add this isn't a 'young' person, Mulvaney is nearly 30.

Would you say to a disabled person offended by someone putting up videos to thousands of users taking the mickey out of their mobility and movement, and by a blog of 'day xxx of being disabled!' when they are trans abled and actually not in reality disabled at all that they just 'need to get used to it' and it's fear of difference that is the root of why they mind rather than go awww bless? Or is it normal boundaries against the assault of that person's behaviour?

You can have a problem with Dylan without misgendering. Just because I dislike Donald Trump doesn't mean I would start to call him a girl

@nilsmousehammer
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am also homosexual and while I have experienced homophobia, not to that extent. But it stems from something similar to transphobia: a fear of being different. Aggressive trans people do not represent the millions who are afraid to come out because the name trans is made bad because of the select few who abuse it

EmmaEmerald · 22/04/2023 15:35

OP thank you for this article

It's the sort of thing - along with all the other stuff that's true - that gets you labelled a conspiracy theorist, but these are indeed media plans. It's interesting to hear about Drew Barrymore because I wondered about that.

These days I get why Hollywood is regarded with suspicion. I think they have a long history of just doing crazy stuff and many companies just find it hilarious to see the effect on society.

nilsmousehammer · 22/04/2023 15:10

Btw if you're waiting for me to 'accept' providing straight sex to men who identify as lesbians?

You are in for a very, very, very long wait.

nilsmousehammer · 22/04/2023 15:09

paulinesmithson · 22/04/2023 14:17

Homophobia was actually horrendous, and still is to a large extent and it is only recently that people accept it more, which will eventually start to happen with trans. Dylan is raising awareness about being trans and she is not trying to force anyone to be transgender.

I was homosexual at the time of section 28, I have personal experience of homophobia thanks. Do you?

This is not the same, gay people were never mocking and impersonating straight people and stepping on their toes, they just wanted to not be arrested or beaten up for having a same sex lover.

The biggest homophobia I have ever encountered has come directly from the trans lobby including posters here, who have told me I must learn to provide straight sex to men and not look to enjoy it because of a social duty never to say no to men. Recently I saw a 72 year old lesbian woman, also with direct experience of actual homophobia at the time of the height of the gay rights movement, being protected by Christian Fundamentalist men ffs, from a raving, screaming lynch mob who identified as being 'pro' LGBT+ and were a direct danger to her.

There really is no hope of selling these lies any more.

heathspeedwell · 22/04/2023 15:08

@paulinesmithson have you heard of a transwoman called Blaire White?

Blaire has been taking female hormones for seven years and is convinced that Dylan Mulvaney is lying about being on oestrogen. Blaire also makes the very good point that Mulvaney has spent tens of thousands on facial surgery but wont spend $300 on facial laser hair removal.

This idea that Mulvaney is faking is widespread is LGBT circles too.

loislovesstewie · 22/04/2023 14:41

I look forward to Dylan having surgery to remove his primary sexual characteristics. I think I will be waiting a long time.

MavisMcMinty · 22/04/2023 14:21

Mulvaney seems to despise both women and trans women, while pretending to be both.

literallyarabbit · 22/04/2023 14:21

paulinesmithson · 22/04/2023 13:38

you are all just annoyed to see a young trans woman gain popularity for sharing her experiences that you say spiteful things about her. nobody would ever spend so much money on facial feminisation surgery just for a few marketing deals so it's ridiculous to label her as a fraud with no proof. what happened to being accepting of other people's experiences?

Oh please, DM is no more a trans woman or even a trans identifying man than I am a real rabbit.

Yes, he's had facial feminisation surgery but to no real degree as it's not really made him look any more feminine. More tellingly, he's not taking cross sex hormones.

He's a grifter and a hustler, and seen an opportunity to make money.

paulinesmithson · 22/04/2023 14:17

nilsmousehammer · 22/04/2023 14:13

No, they really didn't have this attitude to gay people. And gay people were not prancing around shouting 'look at me being straight!' all over the media.

People undergo surgery to achieve a look which they consider more likely to bring them attention, fame and fortune all the bloody time. Have you been living under a rock?!

What has caused you to jump to the conclusion Dylan is doing this? Is it evidence-based or is it implicit transphobia? If you have evidence she is pretending I am more than happy to hear it

It's depressing that the way the female advertising executive saw to improve a brands impression with young women was to use a bloke parodying the most sexist gender stereotypes of women as silly brainless giggling insta-friendly Muppets?

Why would any woman be jealous of that?

Outraged? Horrified? Yep.

Its so regressive.

Where are the females advertising to females with females?

It gets worse.

When you see the proANA comments from young women saying how jealous they are about Dylan's lack of curves and body fat (which has fuck all to do with feminising surgery) it's actively harmful.

Do I believe that some people would go through plastic surgery to gain an income / attention / fame?

Well Katie Price has made a good career out of it. There's the infamous Lolo Ferrari. As have numerous other females. Why not a gay male?

Suggesting it's an extreme idea that is ridiculous is pretty damn ignorant tbh.

But crack on trying the misgyonist slur that women are jealous of anyone who looks better than them... As if that a 'progressive' thing to say.

The proana comments are disgusting yes. But not Dylan's fault. People are very fast to call anything new 'woke' and people had this attitude to gay people only a few decades ago. The only way we can move past this is to try and listen to people who claim to have different experiences such as being transgender and not jump to conclusions

This is a man openly mocking women.

No, I'm not indulging that.

It's a standard thing with the many, many wanabee famouses in the agencies' offices fighting for a small number of opportunities, that having cosmetic surgery is a necessary part of increasing employability. An actor friend of mine (actual actor, employable, qualifications, not making a living dancing into bushes and mocking women), was sent for gastric band surgery and nose job in the first year, and as the agent predicted, opened the door to many more roles he could audition for.

@Greysilverbluehair
woman face is really not a thing. humans' faces range from feminine to masculine and altering your face to move it along the spectrum is in my opinion not harming anyone. she cannot control the fact that she is transgender and people criticising her for it isn't going to change it

You misunderstand the term 'womanface'. It is the grammatical equivalent of 'blackface' - i.e. the now discredited performance tradition whereby white singers and dancers would 'black-up' and perform stereotypical 'black' songs.

Drag and performative 'trans-ing' is the equivalent, and it is seriously insulting to women.
