That Mulvaney Nike video really miffed me off. And Nike’s treatment of women has been spectacularly awful.

@Greysilverbluehair
woman face is really not a thing. humans' faces range from feminine to masculine and altering your face to move it along the spectrum is in my opinion not harming anyone. she cannot control the fact that she is transgender and people criticising her for it isn't going to change it

FFS wake up!!
Sex clown, woman hating Patriarchy enablers can fuck off. If you really want to support 'transitioners' then vote for good quality child mental health services, support LGB causes. Speak out against religious indoctrination that triggers kids to believe if a boy doesn't conform to stereotypes he MUST be a girl. Off to Thailand on 16th birthday to have balls amputated and penis inverted. Happy 16th.

And even if you do compare it to the Beatles, what you are in effect saying is that is a trend which is time limited and will crash and burn when the next thing comes along. It's got a level of superficially to it rather than profound social change like the civil rights revolution.

When I was growing up and the next thing came along, at worst I was left with an awful (on me) buzz cut with fringe and rats tails in a different colour that took ages to grow out. If what’s being implied by LoC that gender woo is a trend, there’s a lot of youngsters that will be left with permanent, life altering, possibly life limiting changes that they can never outgrow.

I believe Bud are gonna be prepared to take the hit to cement their standing on Commercial Diversity Index. It's now about more than just the bottom line.

Bud light are being lampooned all over the internet, what does this type of mockery do for their reputation and is their standing on the CDI more important that being considered a laughing stock. I must say I really enjoyed this one

Are Nike an especially ethical company in general?

In my memory I thought not, although not researched it recently.

Maybe that shit doesn't matter to enough people any more.

It is ironic and incredibly depressing that Alysson Felix had to fight when Nike tried to pay her less after she became pregnant. They gave in eventually but it was not their finest hour:

Nike changes policy for pregnant athletes

Six-time Olympic gold medallist Allyson Felix says female athletes will "no longer be financially penalised for having a child" after Nike changed its sponsorship contracts.

Here’s an update on how Anheuser Busch are trying to deal with the flack of partnering with Dylan. I note they’re still not apologising to customers for hiring a marketing team that looks down their noses at the core Bud Light demographic. They seem to think they can use ads to memory-hole their partnership with Mulvaney 🤷‍♀️

Share values in other brands that compete with bud light are up. It's not even that the bud light tank that's the issue now - it's how it seems to be benefiting rivals.

Oh look - the executives who oversaw "employing" creepy Dylan have been put on "gardening leave". Times share token:

you are all just annoyed to see a young trans woman gain popularity for sharing her experiences

LOL

You got the first five words right, and the rest about as wrong as one can get something wrong.

notice how dylan has gone to ground with the Bud Light thing - when women were outraged about Ulta it was all passive aggressive threats to ruin lives and fake tears. Now it’s white conservative men Dylan has nothing to say - the rage and seething is just for women.

This. Always.

Men always know how to bully women, from direct threats and violence and stalking, to the passive aggressive "if you leave me, I might kill myself".

I think we know exactly what's happening here.

comparing DM to the Beatles is the funniest thing I have ever seen on MN

You're right actually Grin I was irritated by that post at first, but on reflection it is a hilariously ridiculous thing to say!

Imagine being the brand managers who passed over Dylan Mulvaney..somehow I don't think they're kicking themselves like the record label guy who turned his nose up at the Fab Four, lol.

you are all just annoyed to see a young trans woman gain popularity for sharing her experiences that you say spiteful things about her. nobody would ever spend so much money on facial feminisation surgery just for a few marketing deals so it's ridiculous to label her as a fraud with no proof. what happened to being accepting of other people's experiences?

And why must we be always accepting of others experience?

This person has an imagined experience of what it's like to be a woman. I've lived it.

When TW become respectful of my actual biological reality and the real difficulties and oppression that brings I'll consider the experience of someone like this,

Because right now these accommodations seem one sided therefore at present this person can pop on their Nike clobber and jog on

Promotes not promises

Misstache · 23/04/2023 13:41

It’s funny how there’s so much criticism of toxic positivity until it’s Dylan and suddenly it’s she’s so positive and cute! Feminists have been critiquing forever the culture that makes women perform happiness at the expense of our own feelings and humanity. Being “positive” all the time isn’t good - it teaches women we don’t deserve feelings, we should just smile through life instead of fighting for change, we should please and appease people we shouldn’t express anger, and it provides a false image that harms other women (who then are made to feel crazy and wrong when they have negative feelings.)

Dylan’s “tee hee” personality isn’t just marketing for products, it’s marketing empty and oppressive emotions to young girls that actively harm them while promoting ED and bad eating habits, consumerism, inauthenticity (sold ironically as authenticity but Dylan is never honest) and promises to young women to be vapid, soulless, and shallow and transactional with relationships.

notice how dylan has gone to ground with the Bud Light thing - when women were outraged about Ulta it was all passive aggressive threats to ruin lives and fake tears. Now it’s white conservative men Dylan has nothing to say - the rage and seething is just for women.

Many people have heavily criticised Elvis (and to a lesser extend even The Beatles) for taking the music of uncelebrated black musicians and repackaging it for a white audience with a white performer but that wasn’t the older generation it’s generations hence and they’ve basically got a point.
