The reason Kirstie says things like this is because she is incredibly privileged, and because the confidence and opportunities she was given as a result of her privileged upbringing have allowed her to have a successful career, she believes herself to be far more intelligent than she actually is.

All this stuff about trans women being women (except in certain circumstances, which means you don't actually believe they are women but believe you must pretend you do) is typical of the kind of woman who knows nothing about the conditions in women's prisons, has never attended a rape counselling group, has never needed to use a domestic violence shelter, and has rarely if ever needed to use a public toilet or changing room. She therefore feels entitled to be generous with other women's spaces and safety when offering to share them with trans women. This is what I like to call "Emma Watson feminism".

If you're familiar with Kirstie's opinions about how young people would be able to afford houses if they cancelled their Netflix subscriptions and gym memberships, this kind of tone deaf stupidity isn't surprising.

I'm not sure we need to pay much attention to what the daughter of a hereditary peer has to say on either of these topics.

Most people would have said 'oh wow, I hadn't realised that might be an issue - I hope no one was affected in that way'.

But no, a doubling down. She's spent the last week saying uninformed stuff and when given arguments/evidence has either blocked, ignored or doubled down.

I didn't have any particular opinion of her before. Now I think she's a fud.

Almost everyone, now, knows that the government alarm could have a negative impact on domestic abuse victims. It's been in the papers, it's on the radio. Most people are quite aware of it as one of the reasons for pushback.

But not Kirstie.

So much so, that even when it's pointed out, it still isn't ringing any bells for her.

She's tone deaf, because she's completely uninterested in women's rights and can't read the room.

Given the fear I've seen on various platforms from people in abusive relationships, scared that their hidden phone would be revealed, the addition of the laughing face emoji seems particularly unpleasant.

She didn't innocently wander into the debate by accident and get shouted down. The whole thing started because she chose to rebuke us all for not #BeingKind to Dylan.

And her subsequent responses tell me that she was never up for a respectful debate.

The problem with her position - lets have a women lite option for some men, is that while it sounds both inclusive and pragmatic it is anything but.

She's imaginging laws where she can giggle with dylan Mulvaney while they both do their make up in a lovely public toilet, but exclude isla bryson from following 15 year old girls in a more secluded space.

She's also imaginging that we have the same line, and that the men who dont meet the standard are going to be happy stay out of the spaces. Also that we are allowed to even talk about where the line is, because to acknowledge the line is to acknowledged that these men arent women at all.

I mean, we'll think that you can't be anything other than completely compliant with trans ideology, on pain of threats of rape and death.

I'm very much looking forward to being proved wrong.

Absolutely a win. I'm not sure that JKRowling said as much initially and was piled on with hate and death threats.

That's only because having learned that their ideology is batshit that no one really accepts, they are treading very carefully with kirstie, and allowing her to say that she doesn't like to be called cis, and no to men in women's spaces like sports or prisons.

If they continue to accept that, then that's something of a significant gain for the gender critical argument, wouldn't you say?

If you're saying that they're persuading her using emotion while we're using facts, you're probably right that this is more effective for someone like Kirstie.

I wonder what will happen when she realises that nothing other than full agreement is enough for the TRAs? She'll have to agree with men in women's sports, prisons and changing rooms. She'll have to chant the TWAW mantra. Will she be prepared to do this or will she decide that women should have rights too?

If she’s blocked anyone presenting facts and is only listening to those who are clapping her ego then what she’s saying is just background noise.

It looks to me that the TRAs played a better PR game than the GCs. Kirstie could easily have become more GC but instead, as a result of the responses she got, she has swung towards the TRAs. I presume lots of people here will say, yeah we don't want her anyway because....and i think that's very reflective of the GC movement
