Yes, I thought that was really interesting, I think she is the first person I have heard talk about how families are being seriously traumatized by the way they are being treated, particularly by experts and authorities.

I on;y had to dip into all that a little, but the situation of having a child who was struggling, and knowing that there was no where I could access help that would be safe, or that institutions like her school were unsafe for her and were working against me, was incredibly horrifying.

We were talking about this yesterday. It was incredibly moving. And of course when eventually this is all over we will have created a society where trust in the medical and psychiatric and social services has been shattered. The people whom the parents should have been able to trust are the ones who have let them down. Not just let them down, but vilified and prosecuted them.

I know several medics working at senior levels (head of department in their hospitals and with influence throughout their health boards and wider) who have thrown themselves into promoting gender ideology with religious zeal. I used to have a friend who was a clinical psychologist who is still totally TWAW and talks about sexed brains. These are all experts earning serious salaries and gold-plated pensions, with peoples' lives and wellbeing in their hands. They weren't sucked in by a powerful cult, they ran towards it in order to prove how progressive and open-minded they were.

Labour, the Liberals and the Greens have done massive damage to the social contract. Gender Ideology has shown us how utterly stupid and unprincipled, and how willing to lie, our politicians are. Of course politicians have always lied — but never at this level of calling day night or black white.

Jordan Peterson on the feminist board. Jesus Christ on a bike 😫

TheClitterati · 16/04/2023 23:39

I don't think JP is a rampant misogynist. He's a very clever intelligent and kind thinker. He just has zero feminist analysis- it's his archillies heel. Despite not agreeing with him on everything, I think he has much to say that is worth listening to.

His conversation with Helen Joyce is fabulous.

Not watched the original video in the OP but just spent a fascinating two hours on @MrsOvertonsWindow 's link from page 1. Thank you very much.
What a great woman, a new shero.

Stephanie Davies - Arai's great isn't she? Transgender Trend seems to work really effectively behind the scenes and she gets so many knowledgeable professionals to write for the the website - always well evidenced and rational pieces:

Transgender Trend - Who Are We? - Transgender Trend

Transgender Trend is a UK organisation advocating for evidence-based care of gender dysphoric children and science-based teaching in schools.

Thanks OP, I have just finished watching this. Dr Grossman has an interesting perspective based on a lifetime of professional experience as well researching the subject. She is clearly passionate about protecting children. I found it moving that she says she felt motivated to speak out, despite cancellation, due to both her mother and father having been holocaust survivors, inspiring in her a conviction in doing the right thing by standing up to tyranny.

Fukuraptor · 16/04/2023 08:05

He is thoughtful and tries to understand opposing points of view. In terms of things I may disagree with him about, I suppose I've noticed on the gender stuff how he talks about feminism negatively and blames it for some things I wouldn't.

I haven't yet watched a video where that is the main subject so I probably need to do that but I get the sense from what he's said on the gender videos (and one on unplanned childlessness that I found fascinating and linked above) that it is maybe his problem is the unintended consequences of some strands of feminism - e.g. in a rush to get what men have, some feminists have also devalued some of the traditional roles women have (e.g. as mothers) even though those roles are meaningful parts of women's lives.

I can kind of see where he's coming from on that (as someone who is a SAHM/WAHM myself I can see how society doesn't value that role any more - I think it's important for women to have choices - both ways) but for instance he says all the women he knew who didn't want children in their teens/twenties did want them later in life - sometimes after it was too late. Whereas I do know women who strongly did not want children who haven't regretted it so far - late thirties - late forties which I appreciate is maybe not long enough, but you can only make the choices for your life that seem right at the time and I think people can be fulfilled through things outside of having children through other relationships and fulfilling careers and some people are unhappy parents too because the relationship with their adult children isn't what they imagined.

But yes, despite areas we may disagree upon, I'm not seeing raging misogyny, he seems to care about women, even if he doesn't necessarily understand everything about the female experience and feminism. He seems to try a great deal harder to understand than the men who claim womanhood.

whereaw · 16/04/2023 06:44

Jordan Peterson is one of the most thoughtful and insightful intellectuals of our time, in my opinion. I've not watched this yet but will be as soon as I have the time.

I would love someone to explain what his rampant misogynistic views are as I've read and listened to a lot of his content and I have not seen evidence to suggest this at all. Quite the opposite.

endofthelinefinally · 16/04/2023 06:00

I am now listening to Trish Wood interviewing Kelly Jay Keen.
She describes what I was saying much better than I did.

endofthelinefinally · 16/04/2023 03:28

Most people of average intelligence can cope with reading and listening to a variety of opinions. This is how critical thinking can be learned and developed.
If you narrow down the field of acceptable individuals to those with whom you agree on everything, you end up with the situation we have in some universities currently.
No platforming, hounding of people out of their jobs, screaming mobs of students assaulting and terrorising elite female athletes for example.

SpicyMoth · 16/04/2023 02:50

Genuinely if you think JP is a rampant misogynist or really any type of misogynist, I'd really recommend taking the time to actually sit and listen to what he has to say.

Much like JKR, what he's said has been wildly misinterpreted and paraphrased into things so far from what he actually believes it's not even funny.

I like him and don't think he's a misogynist at all, he posted some fascinating insights on Chinese milking machines recently which really opened my eyes to what's going on over there that the MSM don't tell us about

Just incase you hadn’t realised since posting, that was a mistake on Peterson’s part: it turned out the milking wasn’t Chinese but from a made- in- the -U.K. fetish porn video.

I must admit I had written him off after seeing a couple of interviews with him where he frequently used rhetorical slights of hand to duck out of uncomfortable questions. But that was years ago and his interview with Dr. Grossman is excellent. Now I will have to look at the other videos people are recommending. Interesting type of misogynist who is invites intelligent women onto his podcasts to let them have their say.

I'd really recommend his Maps of Meaning lectures on Youtube. They are interesting in themselves, not political, but they give a really good basis to understand where he's coming from in a lot of his political views, which is really from a clinical psychology POV.

Obviously, I would have preferred an upright Liberal to give Dr. Grossman a platform regarding her child transition critical views. But, alas, it was not to be…

Funny how they shut down all debate and then complain that people who want to discuss the issues end up on the wrong platform…

I like Jordan Peterson, he makes a lot of sense. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with absolutely everything he says. It’s a shame people are so opinionated when the chances are they have only seen snippets of his views (likely not in context) or read articles about him rather than making an informed and educated opinion on him by actually watching/listening to what he says.
I would have a lot more respect if somebody said that they had listen to five or six of his different speeches/talks and didn’t agree with anything he said.
It reminds me of the Johnny Depp opinions when half of the most opinionated people hadn’t even watched the trial!

Refreshing to read this. I’ve watched a few long interviews with all the “controversial” figures I come across that are apparently bad people. JP, Ben Shapiro, Katie Hopkins, Piers Morgan, Candice Owens, among others. I don’t see any of them as evil people in conclusion though they have all been “confidently wrong” and/or dickheads to others at times.

People live in bubbles of their own beliefs. If we only spend time listening to “people like us” we never understand the other side. The algorithms of our internet use just reinforce our own beliefs. I’m clearing my YouTube history a lot these days to reset the algorithms. You listen to one Katie Hopkins YouTube short and it thinks you’re a fan, flooding your recommendations 😫

You know Jordan Peterson's views on women right OP?

We don't do that. Normal people don't need to agree with people on everything to recognise and appreciate when they make good points.

I think that, if you see a post about an interview with a woman and your first thought is not about what she might have to say but about the man interviewing her, then maybe you should stop and have a think about the meaning of 'misogynistic'.

Bloody BRILLIANT!!

😂😂😁

ArcticSkewer · 15/04/2023 15:21

Very interesting interview.
For those deep in the purity spiral, JP barely talks in this.
It was very upsetting in parts, but good to see a strong woman standing up for children and families

Hoorah for Miriam Grossman, who understands the plight of we parents of trans-identified children. From about 15 minutes in the interview she talks about the life that I know only too well. We are devastated. We exist in the shadows, and as anonymous online entities, trying to avoid estrangement from our manipulated children. We commune with other parents in secret online meetings, sharing our grief and survival hints. This is not what I signed up for when I decided to have children. The world has gone mad.

I've read quite a bit of his material, and I've watched some of his university classes as well as other interviews and lectures he's done.

He's not a misogynist at all, let alone rampant. I think he really likes women and in general he's pretty good at seeing things from their point of view.

Maybe you should try moving past asking google what to think.
