Male kangaroos has 3 penises

They don’t. But I was reading Adam Kay’s “Kay’s Anatomy” with my 8 year old son and we got onto reproduction and female kangaroos have 3 vaginas. My son asked, “so do male kangaroos have 3 penises?”. They don’t. They have one what splits - we researched it.

I’m just wondering what kangaroos would identify as if they have 3 vaginas and 2 penises?

@unclebuck I used to love Amateur Transplants and had a couple of their CDs. I listened to one about 3 years ago. They are now in a landfill somewhere.

Where I work we have so many pigeons, despite the pigeon spikes. Against our work room window we see the pigeons in all their glory.

I agree. I’m a teacher and I actually think the book is patronising (putting aside my biases about him aside). My son (ASD) found it hilarious though so I pursued with it. I’ve also bought Dr Ranj’s book and having a skim, I think that’s a better book. It took to the end of the book to get to the fascinating fact about kangaroos!

I saw birds mating when I was a child, (on a tree branch right outside the window of my room), and noticed the absence of any penis.

It made me think then of what might happen if humans used, say, wind pollination for pregnancies. Flashers would be extremely dangerous (hiding behind the corner of a building, opening the raincoat and bam!) But I thought it was preferably to having bees crawling all over your genital area.

Another fun fact - female ferrets can actually die from lack of sex. Their hormonal levels increase and increase until they get a male and without sex they will die. Pet ferrets have to be neutered to stay alive.

Or they can have a Jill jab to bring them out of season.
Male ferrets also come into season, turn yellow, and need to be kept separated.

Kangaroos can also carry a blastocyst in a state of embryonic diapause (arrested development) for many months. So if they need to discard one baby then they have another ready to go without needing to mate first.

My friend read an article once that female breasts only evolved to be enlarged to attract the the strongest primate.

I have AA breasts. I would have have died out.

I told my Yr 13a this and they tried to research whether a female kangaroo can be both pregnant and be impregnated.

More fun facts! Humans are one of the few animals without a penis bone! It is hypothesised that this was a 'sexy sons' evolutionary step so like a peacocks tail or the antlers of the Irish Elk - the human males absurdly poorly developed penis the ultimate show of fitness.
