What is a woman, by modern standards and definitions?

Outright - I’m a sex not gender woman. But I’ve reached the point of so what exactly is a woman, as defined by inclusivity to gender based identification? If woman is gender-based, what is a woman by that definition?

On another note, more people than you might think do seem to believe in "boy brain" and "girl brain" on some level.

At group level there are differences. Most notable differences are in aggression and violence/ criminality.

The problem is that there is such a huge overlap between typical male characteristics and female ones that the link on an individual level is so weak as to be meaningless. Eg if you saw a bunch of test scores on various things like map-reading, empathy, etc, you would be highly unlikely to be able to accurately predict which came from male or female people. There is no one characteristic, or group of characteristics, that are unique to either sex.

Those differences are not to do with one’s brain, but to do with the testosterone coursing through their bodies. Plus socialisation from birth!

Andrea Long Chua a porn-obsessed transwoman writer was lauded as a feminist prophet for describing the “barest essentials” of “femaleness” as “an open mouth, an expectant asshole, blank, blank eyes”

As I’m not a rubber sex doll, I guess I’m also not female. So, that’s nice 🙄

I'm surprised that we've got three pages in and no one has mentioned the less than glamorous aspects housework!! I mean, there may be exceptions but if you're responsible for cleaning the toilet in your home you are probably a woman. Ever cleaned out a cat litter tray, or picked up your dog's poo without making a scene? If yes, definitely a woman.
I'll stick this definition alongside the catcalling one shall I?

Transgender person Shon Fay (who was featured in a Guardian article about ‘Men in Make Up’ before Shon discovered Shon’s previously unnoticed inner woman) once said some guff about women being a ‘shifting constellation’.

Do YOU feel like a shifting constellation?

"Shifting constellation" sounds like trapped wind if you ask me.

puffyisgood · 08/04/2023 07:03

the main competing definitions seem to be:

(a) adult human female; and

(b) someone who has/thinks they have/says they have adopted or 'identifies with' the modes of dress, behaviours, etc which in our society have come to be associated with adult human females. bonus points for attempts to deny the ability to deny the ability to objectively identify (a), the sillier the denial the better.

I know which I prefer.

It is easy to tell.

If an adult says they are a woman and society calls them stunning and brave and 'slayyyyy', they are a man. Aka a proper woman.

If an adult says they are a woman and society shouts and screams and wishes death and rape on them, they are a woman. Aka a front holer.

That's basically how we know.

This 👆🏼💯

I’m an atheist but Mormon Sacred Pants make more sense to me than a GRC 🤷‍♀️

Hang on.. back up a minute...

What was that about Mormon underwear????!!!???

Do I really want to know or will I regret asking?

Temple Undergarments.

People who believe in the doctrines of the Church of Latter Day Saints are supposed to wear special ‘modest’ underwear.

If you don’t have faith, Temple Undergarments just look like frumpy white knee to neck onesies.

If you don’t follow the faith of Genderism, a GRC just looks like a bit of paper.

For the rule makers, whether that be church elders or the government, these artefacts have meaning, they demonstrate that rules have been followed.

Normies are not supposed to see Mormon Pants nor GRCs.
They both exist to prove that the faithful are following rules that the rest of us have no belief in.

I actually have more respect for the undercrackers than for the bit of paper that declares an adult human male is an adult human female.
At least the big pants keep you warm.

@PopGoesTheProsecco asking about woman because I know what I define that as. But sure, any people identifying as male - what makes a person male/a man?

OP posts:
PopGoesTheProsecco · 07/04/2023 22:48

Am so ticked off with this. No one is asking ‘what is a man’ it’s assumed that we know. But because some males want to redefine themselves we now have to ask what a woman is. F@ck the f@ckety off.

In the EQ10 (UK anti discrimination legislation) a woman is defined as a ‘female of any age’.

In the GRA of 2004 it became possible for some adult human males to get a bit of paper that says they are female (and vice versa) but no one is allowed to ask to see said paper.

For some strange reason this always makes me think about that special magic underwear that Mormons have…

Woman = someone in the gender class that likes pillow fights, high heels, and giggling.

FriendofJoanne · 07/04/2023 22:39

Lots of trans women activists are also claiming they are female not just women. Anyone understand the logic there? What with female being the large gamete producing type of human …

@EmotionalSupportHyena si the law does not have a concrete definition of woman or female? How can an undefined characteristic be defended? I’m probably being very daft and missing some detail

I don’t think it occurred to the lawmakers at the time that a definition was necessary? They obviously didn’t anticipate a land grab of Women’s spaces by male-women!

There is a bit of case law that defines biological sex from the 1970s, Corbett v Corbett (April Ashley and husband, marriage was annulled due to Ashley not being female).

Of course, transactivists claim it’s outdated.

How does law define ‘woman’? Sex and gender are protected characteristics in some countries; how do you protect something if it isn’t defined?

Adult human female.

Any other person identifying as this needs a prefix or suffix to highlight that they are not an adult human female.

That’s because you are a normal, sensible human being, living in a normal, regular, universe!

I’m a bit shocked to discover that a woman is, by definition, ‘loose’!

The gender-assigning midwives must have to do regular training updates what with all the looseness and shiftiness.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 07/04/2023 21:58

Found the full Shon Faye quote:

'woman is a loose, shifting constellation of biological, political and cultural phenomena which varies according to context, place and time'

Glad we’ve cleared that up.

I’m a bit shocked to discover that a woman is, by definition, ‘loose’!
