Some means an unspecified number or amount

can cover 2, 10, 1000 or indeed a shitload

It seems a widespread fantasy, trans women think we all share pads/tampons in the cubicles and ‘bond’.

If you’re not my sister, good friend or daughter I’m not going to be asking you for sanitary products, I’ll be rolling up loo roll as a makeshift pad til I get home/to a shop!

Absolutely

some women have been very upset at some of the actions of MNHQ around this

it’s been a shitload more than ‘some’

Actually I agree with this, I can only imagine the shit MN has had from the TRAs.

I agree with bits of it

i don’t think they’ve been ‘great’ about this

and I also don’t think everyone should thank them, some women have been very upset at some of the actions of MNHQ around this.

but lots of women have thanked them over many threads and personally I appreciate how very difficult it must be treading a fine line

This made me look up Dylan Mulvaney, I'd never heard of Dylan before. Why all the 'girlhood' talk (as in 'Day 234 of girlhood!') - Dylan is clearly an adult so wouldn't be a 'girl' in any world.

Dylan's ad for beer is all 'I don't know anything about sport or teams but I like alcohol, you should too' <cutesy high pitched giggle>

Dylan is acting out a parody of woman. It's so insulting.

The funny thing about bud light is they totally missed the target if it was supposed to be aimed at women... In America bud light drinkers are usually truckers & frat boys.. Not sure how they will feel being associated to Dylan M..

It’s a sad day when a major sports brand uses a male to sell sports bras… and an even sadder one when a website for mothers tells us we have to pretend that male is female.

My husband staunchly refuses to believe the Nike thread is genuine. He believes it's a complete piss take.
I would imagine there's a global boycott from women against Nike now? 🤞

Aphrathestorm · 09/04/2023 08:13

I wouldn't take a tampon off another woman let alone a man.

I'd run a mile from a man carrying tampons about.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 09/04/2023 06:55

It gives me rage! Nike and Tampax can fuck off and get in the bin. I will be boycotting there brands from now on. Luckily I don’t use Tampax anyway as my periods are horrendous and I’ll be buying Adidas sports wear.

Needmoresleep · 09/04/2023 06:41

I don’t know to what extent MN comes under the same rules as newspapers, eg when you get the Mail saying “she” and then showing a picture of an obvious man.

MN are always particularly sensitive when a discussion is about an individual, especially one with deep pockets or a litigious nature. I assume it is the risk of legal action (costs, time consumed) as much as the likelihood that action would get anywhere. The Mail has deeper pockets so will fight back. MN is nowhere near the same financial league.

MNHQ have been great about this subject for years.

It is, and was, one of the few places where you can discuss this issue.

MN has been attacked, and badly, by TRAs.

They have shown great courage.

We should thank them.

I don’t think Mumsnet are prioritising anyone’s feelings but I do think they have to think about legal risk from time to time.

Where is the legal risk in the deleted conversation?

Does anyone think tampax Nike etc are not stupid. They know this will cause a storm on SM but as the saying goes no such thing as bad publicity. It gets their brands mentioned. Maybe that's enough even if they lose some GC customers, overall they will gain custom through exposure of their brand. Either to the rainbow lot or the general dgaf public?

I think too that the marketing departments are run by younger generations who don’t realise or care what the stakes are.

When are these men going to be called out for their revolting fetishes

why tampons it’s never night time pads

and if so concerned for women and their needs why not carry around some tena pads as a number of women suffer with bladder issues particularly after childbirth

I am beyond furious that MNHQ have repeatedly censored me, I have a right to speak and a right to state biological fact. MNHQ have no right to dictate how I refer to anyone. I will not go along with the perpetuation of womanface by companies who clearly hate women. The mob want us all to be good submissive little women who will sit and be quiet as we are humiliated and mocked and stripped of our sex based rights and safe spaces. They are trying to silence and erase women. I will not be silenced.

I'll hold my hand up...I have once in my life asked a stranger if she had a tampax. It was on a hiking trail in the toilets in the car park, start of the day with 6 to 8 hours walking and no likelihood of a shop.

She didn't. (Or possibly just didn't want to get into a tampax sharing conversation with a stranger).

Jkr quote needed.. wimpund, woomad?

"Owners of xx chromosomes" sounds like a mad scientist -
"I have some xx chromosomes that I keep in a jar, bwahahaaaa!"

Yeah I'm sure there used to be a word for that kind of adult human.....🙄

Forget the age old Q "do you remember where you were when you heard President Kennedy was shot/Twin Towers came down?" Etc.

The new one is "do you remember when people tried to convince all of us it was reasonable for a man to offer women tampons in the female loos?"

BluebellBlueballs · 09/04/2023 00:15

I had horrendous pain with periods until I had my first pregnancy

I'll happily give DM a tampax when he's spent an hour lying on the floor praying for the pain to stop.

crunchermuncher · 09/04/2023 00:13

This gives me the rage so much. I have always had awful periods and just tried to get in with it it, because the world doesn't cut you any slack no matter how bad you're feeling if it's 'just ladyproblems' .

But these men can flounce around wanging on about their pretend periods and the world bows down and offers them advertising contracts. It's fucking insane.

Animalsoffartingwood · 08/04/2023 18:52

they used the unisex family toilet
Single occupancy lockable? So taking a resource meant for nappy changing and managing potty training/safeguarding children and commandeering it.

What a good illustration of how they always opt to push someone out the way to centre them.

FictionalCharacter · 08/04/2023 16:06

turbonerd · 08/04/2023 12:32

I feel very excluded because I only wear pads. No tampon.
what would Dylan do if he offered me a tampon and I said no thanks?
would I be transfobic then?

He'd just move on. He and the likes of him are completely uninterested in women who refuse to be used for their entertainment.
