Matt Walsh stumps a trans EMT:

"A trans EMT tried to use his medical training to prove that sex is not binary. He ran into trouble when I asked him how he’d respond to a patient with a penis who claims he’s having a miscarriage." https://twitter.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1643450523235028995?cxt=HHwWhsDUteTi2s4tAAAA

I disagree with Walsh on loads of stuff and find him rather smug, but he does debate very calmly and logically.

Like other posters, I appreciate the courage of these trans people getting up to share their views in front of an audience that was clearly going to be ‘hostile’ (hostile as in not sharing their viewpoint and possibly laughing at them as opposed to physically aggressive).

And on that note, yes, wasn’t it striking that the audience listened quietly and politely to these people speaking. There was no need for the audience to rant and rave to drown the speakers out because they knew the speakers would not be making valid points. Such a contrast to the Let Women Speak events and other women’s group meetings where TRAs have gone to great lengths to prevent women speaking because they fear others hearing truths and logic.

even though mumbloke said he wasn't safe.

And the galling thing is that he is a big guy, the kind that no one starts on because of his size alone (in my unscientific study of talking to blokes, I’ve always been astonished how the beefy, 6’2”+ ones have no fear - and this privilege is invisible to them, where as skinnier and shorter men do get ‘started on’, so they have more anxiety walking around), and he talks about ‘feeling unsafe’. Maybe his imagined ‘feeling unsafe’ is all part of the validating imaginary ‘ladyfeelz’.

Wanderingowl · 05/04/2023 16:59

That guy who called himself a mother said mother, way, way, way down the long list of ways he described himself. And not in a, "I'm saying it last as it's most important" kind of way. It was like he just remembered he'd meant to say it. If I was asked to give a general description of who I am in life, I'd definitely say mother before I'd say homeowner, tax payer, the full long name of my degree or my salary band. Almost every parent I know would describe the fact that they are a mother/father quite early in a general description of their life. Or say ".... And most importantly, a mother/father!" in a way that made it clear they were deliberately leading up to it.

bellinisurge · 05/04/2023 16:58

Matt Walsh is a misogynistic dick. It breaks my heart that no one on the liberal left is challenging these Maoist loons. But it is an excellent and forensic take down by Walsh.

pickledandpuzzled · 05/04/2023 16:56

Yes, that safe reference he was challenged on was telling.
He may have been accidentally hit by the eye of the guy just behind him though, if one had popped out under the pressure of all the eye rolling.

I felt a bit sorry for the bloke with the curly hair. Everybody laughing because he was made to look foolish.

He made himself look foolish and he chose to do so.

I note that, even with a predominantly sceptical audience, no one jeered, booed, threw anything, or assaulted them. They were perfectly safe, even though mumbloke said he wasn't safe.

I think safe means "nobody is disagreeing politely."

Yes, it could be seen as sinister.

It could also be seen as a male who has very low self value who has allowed a UK male who is trans who podcasts to tap into that very low self value and provide some kind of 'out' for that male. Provide some kind of meaning to their issue. I see a person who holds women's opinions of them out as a protective shield, just like their job and the fact that they had a child, because they had absolutely no fucking idea how to answer a direct question. A question that any credible therapist should have asked them.

There were many red flags with that individual's statements to consider. Partly are they coercive, partly are they that bloody vulnerable and no one has helped them.... I don't know with that one.

I also thought it was interesting that he said he’d only been transitioned for TWO years and he was calling himself a mother and was clearly an enormous hairy bloke.

I can’t believe what I’m watching. The fact he can stand up and say this shit and people are blinding clapping is just mind blowing

pickledandpuzzled · 05/04/2023 16:45

My young friend has cut off two family members who were 'disrespectful' and refused to apologise.

It's a sad world where kids are encouraged to cut off anyone who disagrees.

'I just watched the clip. I felt a bit sorry for the bloke with the curly hair. Everybody laughing because he was made to look foolish. You can see how emotionally invested he is in believing in this stuff and how upsetting it is to have it all denied. It’s like a believer trying to defend the existence of God in a room full of atheists.'

What it reminds me of is those awful situations you sometimes used to get on Britain's Got Talent or The X-Factor, where someone had been told by all their friends and family that they were a really talented singer, and then they were faced with Simon Cowell telling them they were shit, and a whole audience of people laughing at them.

Actually, it didn't really remind me of that, because Walsh was a lot more polite than Cowell et al, but the similarity is in the willingness of friends and family to lie because they falsely imagine it's the kind thing to do. It's not kind at all, it's cruel, because eventually the person has to confront the harsh truth, and it hurts much more than if people had been honest from the outset.

Yes! I've often thought of the same X-Factor scenario. Family and friends tell them they're great at singing or whatever and then they go on to make absolute fools of themselves.
This is exactly what all those trans allies are doing. Lying to the trans person that they pass, pretending to be kind while setting them up for a great fall when the first person calls them Mr.

I mean, how valid is women's validation if the consequences of not validating someone's identity are being labelled a bigot and a terf and being cancelled? Can you imagine if one of that man's female colleagues (I think he said he worked in tech) refused to play along? She'd be ostracised and disciplined, expected to attend re-education sessions and would very probably be rendered unemployable. He's at pains to present himself as very placid and benign (while clearly having a gigantic ego) and cannot acknowledge that his fantasy of female adulation is based on his power to wreck their lives. I found him really sinister.

EndlessTea · 05/04/2023 16:11

The curly-headed bloke I felt sorry for was the ‘trans EMT’.

I didn’t have much pathos for the bloke calling himself a mum (who also has curly hair - watched that clip after I have commented on the first).

He seemed really annoying, banging on about his wonderful achievements and how fabulous everyone thinks he is. You just think “bore off “.

The one I felt bad for was the one who seemed more imploring and fragile, saying gender is a spectrum, etc. having his beliefs laughed at. I agree there is no symmetry between me feeling sorry for him and wanting to spare his embarrassment and all the trans activists setting out to cause Posie and other ‘gender critical’ people embarrassment.

Although I have more sympathy for the fragile bloke, I bet he does a lot more real world damage than the conceited gas bag one. I do regularly give my head a wobble to counter my tendency towards being sympathetic - we all know where #bekind leads.

Same reaction as when TW who "live life fully as women" are asked how they cope with their monthly periods! 😂

Except they say they have horrific monthly cramps!

IBS is not a period!

pickledandpuzzled · 05/04/2023 15:34

The part where he listened to a transwoman and realised he shared all their thoughts and feelings, so he too must be a..... transwoman. Dud that means your a transwoman. That's not the same as a woman, because you weren't listening to a woman.

And he had such confidence as he stood up with 'obviously, everyone thinks I'm a woman, and they tell me so regularly' he swaggers, with a swaggery blokey swagger.

pickledandpuzzled · 05/04/2023 15:32

Yes, you don't see that mob being sorry for 'poor misguided Posie', as they could have viewed it. No, difference is indefensible. She must be silenced.

EsmaCannonball · 05/04/2023 15:32

Helleofabore · 05/04/2023 13:34

That curly headed person seems to need some mental health support. I suspect that they have some underlying issues that need addressing. And the people in that person's life need to stop lying about them being a woman.

The trouble is that we (I.e.adult human females) feel sorry for TW when they are faced with the truth that they cannot argue against. As I did. But, the male entitled angry mob that put KJK's life at risk, broke a woman's foot, and fractured another women's eye socket in Auckland is what lies behind this ideology. This is where being kind has got us - so yes, i did tell sorry for him, but tough.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 05/04/2023 15:20

Haha KICK about!

I deffo don’t want to LICK Matt Walsh.

EmotionalSupportHyena · 05/04/2023 15:19

Matt Walsh is a bit of a knob and I doubt I would want to lick about with him.

But…

The ‘can a chicken cry’ interview is my top nomination for ‘hilarious shit that happened during (my own!) 6 years in the gender wars’.

And he is absolutely resolute in not backing down to the mob, even when the mob is his own side (as happened recently when some US conservatives decided he was a meany).

It’s much worse when the criticism comes from your own side (whatever that means in these weird times!) which is why JK Rowling is such a shero.

rabbitwoman · 05/04/2023 15:14

Isn't it good to see what happens in a room when no one is shouted down, heckled, where mistruths are immediately challenged, where everyone is given space to talk.

Where the other side are on the other foot. No wonder they didn't want debate for so long.

Bláthannabuí · 05/04/2023 15:05

He's not making any arguments that GC women haven't been making for years. Still it's good to see.

pickledandpuzzled · 05/04/2023 14:59

I really worry about the young woman I know.
Trauma history, possibly sexual abuse. Care background. No gender dysphoria as a young child. In fact always wanted babies, and seemed most at risk of teen pregnancy more than anything else.

Now- Taking testosterone, saving for a mastectomy and hysterectomy. It doesn't matter that it's experimental, or that women's medicine is under researched and understood because 'trans life expectancy is only 30 anyway, so what's to lose?'.

I know there are some transmen who have been transitioned a long time, and seem happy with who they are.
That's not much reassurance.
