For those who aren’t familiar with the New Zealand media landscape, RNZ is the equivalent of the BBC. It’s a state funded public service broadcaster.

There is an interesting article on RNZ today about the real and measurable effects that ideologues like Posie Parker have on creating and intensifying hatred towards marginalised groups.

Spike in online hate toward trans community after Posie Parker visit - researchers

Analysts monitoring online extremism say the anti-trans rights activist's visit sparked a massive increase in the level of online hatred directed at the trans community.

Give me mean comments online over a punch in the face and an orbital fracture anyday.

That too. I imagine quite a few people object to a man in his prime punching a pensioner, especially a female pensioner. You know that a single punch can kill, right

This quote from the article you posted is genuinely offensive to any one with any commitment to academic rigour. ‘Genocidal’ conduct which has resulted in ummmm zero deaths or even reports of actual assaults against trans people. So in no way homocidal never mind genocidal. In fact the only people who have actually been assaulted were women, including elderly women. You should be absolutely ashamed of yourself, as should the morons quoted in your article. The main instigator of the violence actually visited on women in NZ has been lauded with an award, a delusionist who maintains he is trans despite being a natal man who presents himself as a man. Surely you can see this is a movement without substance.

If it's researchers looking at 'real and measurable effects' as you put it, I'm confused about why I couldn't see a link to their study, with methodology and statistical analysis. Typically researchers show their work.

On a scale of 'throwing tomato soup over someone you disagree with' to 'saying something a bit mean' or 'disagreeing' I'd like to know what exactly they included.

If you have a link I'd love to see it.

Yes did you see that @landOFconfusion ? That brutal act of aggression? Do you support that?

Eyerollcentral · 04/04/2023 01:02

@landOFconfusion let me clear it up for you, men can’t become women ever and certainly not by just declaring it to be so. Saying that is not hate, it’s a reality.

FOJN · 04/04/2023 01:01

Refusing to capitulate to every demand of the TQ+ community is hateful so I imagine being held accountable for glorifying actual violence has really hurt their feelings.

Pixiedust1234 · 04/04/2023 01:01

If you are part of a group that think its acceptable to threaten rape and violence against an oppressed group then you really can't complain when people say they don't like what you are doing. Its not rocket science 🙄

This looks an awful lot to me like a woman being blamed for what other people have done, but with extra steps.

Does it ever occur to you that the alleged "spike" in hostility might be nothing mirw than people objecting to one of the oh-so-marginalised (lmao) chucking a couple of pints of tomato juice over a woman, an act of violent assault that most people take exception to? I'm well aware of how any criticism of trans people is spun as "hate".

Comparing a broadcaster to the BBC isn't making RNZ look good BTW. The extent of the BBC's institutional capture is well-documented on this board.

The woman in question being Posie, in case that wasn't 100% clear.

TRAs are renowned for issuing death and rape threats to women who raise their voices about legitimate concerns surrounding women’s spaces. And in NZ the mob proved themselves rabidly violent and aggressive.

Hate begets hate.

@landOFconfusion You don’t care about women and girls, you are desperate to centre males and male desires.

Shaneel Lal is going around lying and stirring up shit all over mainstream media.

If there is a backlash against trans activists, then some of their own supporters brought this on them.

But I think 'online hate' might include misgendering and understandable anger at older women being battered. Maybe?

SinisterKnitter · 04/04/2023 00:55

As Sammy says, not a surprise at all after seeing how the 'trans community' behaved.

Not sure this is the gotcha you think it is, OP.

Interesting username @landOFconfusion

It's hardly surprising when you consider the appalling behaviour of trans people towards Posie. People here were disgusted by what they saw - why wouldn't New Zealanders feel the same?
