Yes. Best own goal ever. People who knew very little about the issue are talking about it now.

Rainbowshit · 03/04/2023 09:20

And there we have it. Posie Parker achieved her aim in NZ. To get people talking about this.

Huge thanks to the crowd of violent TRAs and special mention to the man that doused her in tomato juice.

If they hadn't tried to stop women speaking this never would have made international news. 👏 👏

Poor old sod.

He should have spent some time on MN, then he would have guessed this is a question he'd be asked.

Then again, if he had had time to prepare, would he actually have been able to come up with a convincing answer? Not easy when your argument is built on shifting sands to begin with.

Yup

unless your answer is ‘an adult human female’, you’re just going to look like a classic loon when answering ‘what is a woman?’ in any situation where you can’t flounce

there really is only one right answer to that question

What a tool. I'm embarrassed for the people of NZ, the sensible ones must be watching this through their fingers.

There is no need to be embarassed for the people of NZ. Have you forgotten about your previous two PMs? I rather think people of NZ will be far more embarrassed for the people of the UK.

Genuine question... Why is it right to change birth certificates? Surely these are accurate records of an event in time. Because years later, you feel that you are the opposite gender and get a GRC, it does not mean that your birth did not happen the way it is recorded. I don't understand why this is part of the process.

Birth records aren’t actually changed except in cases which involve intersex or DSD conditions. Such records are now often left blank at the point of registration and filled in when more information becomes available.

In the case of transgender people the original birth record is moved into an archival section and the public facing record is amended. The Government retains the original records along with a register which contains the amended certificates, but these records are not publicly accessible.

so he condemned KJKs views without knowing what they are

As far as I can tell, he's condemning... the vibe?

He seems to be condemning a view he imagines she holds

he shouldn’t be in charge of anything

FrancescaContini · 03/04/2023 09:11

🫣 This man is PM?

Fenlandia · 03/04/2023 09:10

Toe-curling, and the latest in a long line of politicians decomposing into gender jelly as if they'd been zapped by a Doctor Who monster.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 03/04/2023 09:09

What a doofus

how embarrassing both for him and the people of New Zealand

so he condemned KJKs views without knowing what they are

what else will he do because someone else tells him to?

it’s pretty scary really

HagoftheNorth · 03/04/2023 09:09

FFS,
a) what an idiot - doesn’t know what a woman is & would need time to prepare an answer 😂
b) why does anyone still think it’s ok to say KJK/JKR/all of us here, hate trans people and want them to not exist? All it shows is someone who is too lazy/stupid to do the research themselves & would rather believe what some pressure group is telling them. Not a great look for a law-maker!

Whaeanui · 03/04/2023 09:08

Yes, especially as this issue hasn’t been properly discussed in NZ and many won’t have realised that politicians won’t say simple truths like this.

Hepwo · 03/04/2023 09:07

He's not sure what a woman is but he knows men can go online and read about how to sign up to be one.

MarshaBradyo · 03/04/2023 09:07

I haven’t watched but he sounds an embarrassment

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 03/04/2023 09:07

it makes as much sense as allowing people to change their birth certificate because they don't feel 40, or they don't feel like a proper Scorpio.

This is one of my main objections to the GRA.

If you can change the record of a material, observed fact then a precedent has been set and our law becomes unworkable. Being able to falsify a document is not a human right and it was a stupid for anyone to argue that it was.

catscatscurrantscurrants · 03/04/2023 09:05

He's an embarrassment, isn't he? A five year old could answer that question.

AmuseBish · 03/04/2023 09:04

And aside from not knowing the answer, how politically unaware and dense do you have to be to not know this is the hot question? Ever since Anna from Warwick (?) asked that UK Lib Dem woman it on the phone-in, it's become a very simple way to show people up as clueless or dishonest.

To not expect the question suggests you're... not paying attention to anything? Great look.

Helleofabore · 03/04/2023 09:02

Well, he couldn’t answer ‘what is a woman’ at all.

Nor could he answer what Kellie Jay Keen said was abhorrent.

Ohyoudodoyou · 03/04/2023 08:58

What a tool. I'm embarrassed for the people of NZ, the sensible ones must be watching this through their fingers.

VaddaABeetch · 03/04/2023 08:58

Changing your sex on your BC is an insult to mothers.

My mother birthed a female girl child. Telling her she didn’t is gaslighting.

Boomboom22 · 03/04/2023 08:58

It's mad isn't it? Adoption certs supercede birth certs but Don replace. I Don't see why gender certs can't be the same, or preferably be scrapped as they are nonsense.

Whaeanui · 03/04/2023 08:55

Why is it right to change birth certificates? Surely these are accurate records of an event in time.

It shouldn’t be allowed. It’s going to be really hard to create an accurate family tree if this kind of thing can happen. These are meant to be accurate official documents and changing them later shouldn’t happen.

Whaeanui · 03/04/2023 08:54

Glad someone posted this, it’s incredibly embarrassing for our PM to look so uncomfortable with a basic question. He shared his press conference on his Facebook as usual but cut this question. He doesn’t want kiwis to see what an idiot he is.
