I don’t know if she can win given it’s been a Labour constituency since it was formed (in 1980s) and was held by Frank Dobson and then Keir Starmer and according to data is a ‘progressive’ constituency, average age 41 and good job security. Interestingly I can’t find data on constituency make up by sex.

I’m not sure she’s expecting to win. She knows she can cause an awful lot of disruption though. And I say bring it on!

@reesewithoutaspoon

All the filia and wpuk meetings in the world won't actually get to the people we need on our side and we are running out of time with a GE approaching.

I think that's a very good point, regarding those organisations. KJK is a natural, she's not afraid to speak forcefully, she sticks to her guns and the matter at hand; her exasperated eye rolls are magnificent, nobody reasonable is left in doubt that she's keeping a discussion on subject, or that her opponent is talking rubbish.

She's an ordinary woman, doing extraordinary things. She has a strong media presence and is popular, she's a proven mobiliser; she's exactly the right person for the job.

pass motions

After the last few years I will never again not read this as a ‘bowel movement’.

Sick of Labour’s shit - branch and CLP motions are about as much use as sharpie-ing a message on helium balloon and letting it fly off over the church hall.

My branch unanimously passed a motion on reserving all women shortlists for female-women and GRC holders only at least 5 years ago (ie keeping it the way everyone assumed it already was on not allowing self ID) and fuck all came of it.

Now I wouldn’t even accept the GRC holders bit. If it says women it should mean adult human females.

Campaign for a different scheme for trans representation if you want trans representation and include transmen in it if they reject their inclusion on AWS.

Just stop colonising the little bits of the world that women have fought so hard to obtain.

What do all the posters who are accusing us of fangirling actually want?

Is it for us to STFU and not support women who are prepared to put mainstream political parties to task on these issues?

It's almost as if they don't care about women's rights at all.

Apparently, the right way to do it is to have meetings, sit in rooms with women who already agree with you, pass motions, sign letters and shout out into your echo chamber. Meanwhile, the politicians continue to ignore you and even ban you from speaking at your own parties' conferences.

We have gone past the point of asking politely because it's too easy to ignore women's voices, we need the public to raise a fuss and they won't do that if they aren't even aware of it. All the filia and wpuk meetings in the world won't actually get to the people we need on our side and we are running out of time with a GE approaching.
labour is predicted to win the GE with a big majority. This would give them the ability to pass whatever motions and laws they want with impunity, they could do a lot of damage in 4 years, we basically have 18 months to raise public awareness of this assault on women's rights.

My mother always taught me the squeaky wheel gets oiled first and its a maxim that's pretty much proved true again and again throughout my life.

KJK is a squeaky wheel and she's forcing politicians to get the wd40 out and I,m here for it.

Interesting parallel.

A majority voted for Brexit, but they were wrong.

A majority are women, but they have no right to speak.

I am not making a comment on Brexit itself, but funny how some people seem so certain that their views outweigh those of others, regardless of circumstance. Undemocratic?

I personally voted Remain but have never fallen for the all ‘Brexiteers are Right Wing Racists’ smear because I know loads of Lexiteers - Labour Bennites, basically.

The difference between Labour’s 2017 position (which I will characterise as a begrudging acceptance of the result and plea for a softer Brexit) and 2019 (promise of a second referendum) is probably the biggest reason why Corbyn exceeded expectations in 2017 and got utterly trounced in 2019. They went with the Young Labour, middle class student preferred policy and fucked off their core voters.

Posie is cutting through to the mainstream because her message and delivery connect with the people that Labour is losing hand over fist, the traditional Labour working class voters in the former industrial areas who are being smeared by a new, smug, laptop class Labour that loathes the working classes and can’t even be bothered to disguise it (we’re all just gammons, karens, chavs, coconuts and Uncle Toms, no need to give a shit about us).

It’s HRC and the Deplorables and Emily Thornberry’s White Man Van over and over again.

Keir is now shitting his britches because Matthew Goodwin's excellent polling is coming back with this as a key issue amongst the people Keir needs to vote Labour.

Labour will win fuck all if all if they keep pandering to the transactivists - a super majority in London and a handful of university cities means nothing in FPTP

I've said for ages (you can search back through my posting history if you like!) that a Mumsnet Party was needed - the site is so wide-ranging that we'd easily find candidates already living in every constituency (no need to parachute anyone in). Plus the experiences of women on here - as teachers, doctors, lawyers, bankers, scientists, finance experts, civils servants, military, you name it - mean we'd have little problem picking out a cabinet with actual relevant experience in their appointed position.

Bring it on!

I'd clarify by saying that I meant "posters" on this site, rather than "women", I'm sure there are plenty of male posters on here who could prove useful candidates too😜

beastlyslumber · 29/03/2023 22:20

I'm seriously considering it. Anyone else?

@beastlyslumber I have been an elected city councillor in the past, and assisted with an MP's campaigning, and if I can offer any advice I'd be happy to.

I think general headings to consider are

1 Rules / admin / data
2 Campaigning (content and methods of delivery) / funding
3 Security

I thought KJK was one of many women doing very important work for women's rights. I have never expected any of those women to be perfect because I'm not perfect and I get really pissed off when posters pitch up with childish allegations of fan girling, please fuck off, I'm an adult I don't worship anyone.

I also defend her because I cannot stand the lies told about her. Trashing someone's reputation with lies is not a tactic I can get behind. The TRA's tell enough lies about us, we don't need to join in.

I'm also not likely to engage in a "nuanced" discussion about her methods when we are starting to make progress and all it does is give the TRA's ammunition to discredit her and by extension our arguments.

Other people are free to shoot the women's movement in both feet but do not expect me to join in.

Sausagesandeggs · 30/03/2023 08:54

The comments have become ridiculous. It’s as if you’re not allowed to even suggest a critique. God forbid. Starting to sound like an echo chamber. And for the record, I support KJK. I just don’t support this insane fangirling that shoves out any nuance of discussion.

So pray tell us fangirls, what is this nuance you want to espouse?

If you dont name it with words we cant discuss it.

You know not everyone suffered because of Brexit, you know even if Brexit had never and would never happen there would still be plenty of people suffering.

FWIW and to see your blood pressure rocket, I've got a spare 400 quid I'm donating to the PoW

Floisme · 30/03/2023 10:24

Whoever first thought of the name for KJK's events is a stone cold certifiable genius. I can't imagine what goes inside the head of people who go and protest against a meeting called 'Let Women Speak', and yet they fall for it, every single time.

Boiledbeetle · 30/03/2023 10:14

I hadn't really heard much of KJK prior to her being discussed on here. It was the don't look there look here, she's a bad woman, don't give her your money. ON REPEAT that kept me going back to watch video after video.

So thanks to the bile and slurs spreading posters that tried to tell me how to think I was another added to the KJK is wonderful group DIRECTLY because of posters like our friend this morning.

So whatever the haters are trying to achieve I don't care I'm happy for them to continue. Because for every one of me there's probably another 10 women who read a post slagging her off and go look for themselves and find themselves on KJKs side!

I was pretty indifferent towards Posie until all the bullying posts started popping up.
I absolutely hate bullying, especially pernicious picking and attempts to freeze out an individual which motivated me to really look into their ‘concerns’ and ‘nuance’.
The more I looked, the more I liked her.

Pleased to see the wonderful Hibo Wardere supporting her recently (the patronising ‘I’m so disappointed in you’ comments from The Women of The GenderBorg) are amusing.

https://twitter.com/hibowardere/status/1640295546291200002

I wonder if Hibo would stand? I have a vague recollection that she might live in David Lammy’s constituency! 😆

Yes, I liked her bluntness, it was a relief, but ironically, her being kicked out of the WPUK meeting was what really piqued my interest.

It was so shady. The explanations were inadequate.

Her determination and bravery in the teeth of opposition is as important as her campaigning, in my opinion. She's not just letting women speak, she is simultaneously highlighting male violence.

She appeals to different people for different reasons.

And people coming on here using quite risible nonsense to try and shame women into eg not donating, really are failing in the 'understanding human nature' skills.

Women openly kicking back against patriarchal control are probably not the best cohort choice when you're desperately trying to exercise your patriarchal control.

beastlyslumber · 30/03/2023 09:47

Sausagesandeggs · 30/03/2023 09:14

I have spoken frequently, for years. Perhaps I should have been clearer: there is no room to discuss.

What is it you want to say? Just say it ffs. You've built it up now!

If Labour do try and paint her as a nut job, and if I end up spoiling my vote then I might do so by adding KJK's name to my ballot form.

Oh actually that's a fabulous idea.
Wherever in the country you are, add her name and a little box with a tick. Job done, protest vote done, her name even wider known, done.

I mean as it stands I'm voting conservative, but it's a while away yet, things can change.
