And it will take you all the way to Bournemouth.

(My friends DiL has a DSD. Her particular chromosome disorder comes with various health problems including heart. It seems very wrong to trivialise illness/disability.)

Trans people love to pretend to be “intersex” under the guise of “you don’t know my chromosomes!” Didn’t the person who attacked KJK say they were a non binary Trans intersex person or something. And Lily Madigan claimed to be “intersex” at some point.

MakiSushi · 29/03/2023 11:29

Well that's a load of wank.

Just when I thought I'd seen all ridiculous virtue signalling there is out there then this comes along!

I hope they get taken to task on this - some fools, somewhere, have approved this BS.

GCMM · 29/03/2023 10:59

What nonsense - DSDs have nothing to do with trans or trains.

Or transtrains, in fact

WomanXXWorldsOriginsofMothersofAllNations · 29/03/2023 11:04

But surely

the sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and sex characteristics (SOGIESC) human rights framework

is every human being on the planet past present and future.

Being genuinely inclusive would mean South Western Railway sorting out the GINORMOUS gap between their trains and the platforms at one of their main stations, Clapham Junction. Absolutely terrifying to traverse with pushchairs and children. Impossible for the elderly, wheelchair users and anyone less able bodied.

Ah but that would involve real action and not just empty virtue signalling.

HairyKitty · 29/03/2023 11:01

I’m not personally sure what intersex has to do with lgbtq?

Nothing.

T and Q also have nothing to do with LGB.

Everything to the right of the B = straight people.

I'm in the railway industry. You have NO IDEA how woke (ridiculous) our paymasters are. Batshit.

I used to know a woman who had Turner's syndrome. She used to travel very happily on the train without feeling the need to say: MY CHROMOSOMES ARE WONKY! Intersex is totally BS. They are medical issues, not identities.

puffyisgood · 29/03/2023 10:44

yeah, I dunno. I've previously worked with a man with an extra X chromosome, also with a woman with a missing X chromosome. both seemed like outwardly fairly healthy people (him especially), if they were infertile or had similar problems (we weren't nearly close enough to discuss something so delicate) they'd of course have my sympathies.

neither of the above conditions is that rare, it's fairly likely that a middle aged person who's worked, studied, etc at a few places and/or met a lot of different people for whatever reason will have, knowingly or unknowingly, also met at least one example of the above at some point in their lifetime.

I think that the modern/modish use of 'intersex' usually refers to someone who has a DSD (quite often a less hardcore type than the ones I reference above) and who also 'identifies as trans or non-binary'?

MrsOvertonsWindow · 29/03/2023 10:35

Idly wonders how much money was spent on this crap. Not just the paint job but all the meetings, letters, publicity etc.

Utter fools. (that's the polite version).

FOJN · 29/03/2023 09:14

There's nothing that the de-colonisers won't colonise if it suits their purpose. We live in a demented world.

Sorry for quote quote post but this kind of thing is deeply infuriating, as others have said.

I wonder how long it will be before 'A' in the alphabet soup stands for autism? I'm sure I read somewhere that this is all a cynical exercise for the likes of Stonewall to hoover up other charities funding streams.

Vile.

DOBARDAN · 29/03/2023 10:30

I've had very little sleep and feel like I've woken up on the wrong planet this morning, having glanced at a few threads here,
Anyway, it's not April Fool's Day yet...So...what does this mean?
For instance, I do not fall into the 'intersex' category,
If a train like this one pulls into the station, am I not allowed into that carriage which is painted like that?

BournemouthIsDepressing · 29/03/2023 10:28

Wish I could move. It's gone so downhill here in the past 10 years with various issues but am not sure where would be any better. I dred it turning into Brighton in its wokeness but fear it is already more than 50% there.

FrancescaContini · 29/03/2023 10:19

I’ve never been asked about my sexuality or “gender identity” when booking a train ticket or when boarding a train - is this going to be a new thing? Do I need a rainbow lanyard?

The Inter-Sex to Bournemouth is going to become a fantastically rich source for parody and euphemism, I suspect.

Rightsraptor · 29/03/2023 10:05

Just when I thought they couldn't dream up any more stupidity...

I so wish the few DSD organisations that exist had the funding and wherewithal to counter this rubbish. As it is, I think they exist on a shoestring budget and are staffed by one man and his dog.

DemiColon · 29/03/2023 09:57

RosaBonheur · 29/03/2023 09:28

It isn't, but I am loath to say it's discrimination not to let a straight person crew a LGBTQIA+ train because the same argument was used to justify a man being appointed as a period dignity officer.

I don't think it is the same, really, given that running a train has absolutely zero connection to your sexuality, whereas having a period does relate to being female.

Though tbh I don't think I've ever worked in a setting where I think a period dignity officer was really what was needed to solve problems.

DonnaGiovanna · 29/03/2023 09:55

Spotted this on my local rag's fb page yesterday - they will know the
meaning of ratio by now. I saw one supportive comment in a forest of eye rolling.

BigFrau · 29/03/2023 09:52

Well, I for one am hoping more stripes and symbols for the 1000 genders get added to the flag. The trains will have to get longer and longer to accommodate them all.
Then my local train operator, who insists on running packed trains with just two carriages between three major cities, will have to add carriages on for fear of being labelled something-phobic.
Win win.

Beowulfa · 29/03/2023 09:45

I am consoling myself that this will one day be used as a case study when analysing corporate wokewashing.

Aren't sex and sexual orientation characteristics under the Equalities Act, as is DSD when it implies disability.

And even then it would be hard to argue that you needed to be same sex attracted in order to drive a train. Even a newly painted one.

The rest of the Alphabet....nah.

“On its first run, the newly designed train was crewed exclusively by LGBTQ+ staff”

World’s first train where job opportunities are restricted to those with certain sexual preferences. How is that inclusive?
