I actually agree it's irrelevant if they're trans.

What is extremely relevant is if they are female or male.

And this case is showing how fucked up everything is with the media as no one knows what words mean anymore. And this is why everything else we've been banging on about fucking MATTERS.

And yes, I'm incensed that transwomen's crimes are reported as women's crimes and apparently so are trans men's crimes reported as women's crimes.

The double standards are APPALLING

@Messyhair321 why are you trying to hide the trans identity of this murderer.

The police chief wasn't.

It is dreadful that these children were murdered, and their teachers, even more dreadful if the truth about their killer can't be spoken.

It is essential to know if this was a male or female crime to prevent further incidences.

So quit with your faux concern for the victims. You are simply trying to damage limit. Now is not the time. Have some respect please.

Gaslighting. You are the one with no respect.
What an absolutely ridiculous argument.
The gender identity just doesn't matter. It's about loss of life right now, that's what it's about today. if you have to make it about your own prejudice that is very much your own issue.

lifeturnsonadime · 27/03/2023 23:43

The shooter was a trans man ie a natal woman

Yet the police chief, when asked if this was a trans man or a trans woman stated categorically it was a trans woman.

Now it might be that he is confused by the muddying of language.

But it is NOT clear what sex this individual was. That is shocking.

Clymene · 27/03/2023 23:42

Where's the picture? This is the man who WYP called a woman in their press release he tied a disabled woman to her reclining chair and stabbed her, made her give him her PIN and stole money.

He has previous convictions for rape and other sexual offences.

What are you talking about? What do they need a full academic breakdown of an argument to make it valid? It's not about you is it? People can comment without writing a full essay. People are entitled to an opinion even if it doesn't tally with yours
You are making this about your own prejudice & it's actually about a murder & incredibly sad loss of life.

I focused on their characterisation of Mumsnet, and their accuracy of Mumsnet, that's what I was discussing,

VanCleefArpels · 27/03/2023 23:41

If you substitute “trans” for “fake” it’s less confusing

The shooter was a trans man ie a natal woman

JaneJeffer · 27/03/2023 23:40

So to everyone who thinks it's irrelevant I ask a hypothetical question; if you were told to beware there's an armed and dangerous woman on the loose but it was actually a man you needed to watch out for would that be ok?

Boomboom22 · 27/03/2023 23:40

I see trahr only extends to tw not tw. Twaw and tmaw and waw. Only gender conforming men are men.

Like the primogeniture laws.

I can't tell you how much these school shootings, and any shooting of a child, just fucks with us here in the US...I probably need to get off the internet before I lose my mind...can't take having babies gunned down. We never know when it will be ours.

It's unimaginable. Just cannot imagine how it must feel sending your babies off to school every day knowing there's a chance that they could be massacred there.

Dodgeitornot · 27/03/2023 23:39

Messyhair321 · 27/03/2023 23:34

Maybe it's about people who have been killed. What about that

Maybe it's about who kills people and how we help protect the victims. Crime statistics help us do that. They help in funding interventions and help figure out who the vulnerable groups are. How do you think we find out who marginalised and vulnerable groups are? Once tons of females start becoming murderers and rapists, they won't be seen as a vulnerable group. They will be on par with men.
Skewing statistics is very dangerous and a lot more complicated than just hurting someone's feelings or misgendering them.

namitynamechange · 27/03/2023 22:58

I looked them up. Seems to be female to male so actually is one of "our" crimes for once. Be interesting whether they are sent to a male or female prison. I mean, personally I think it would be unethical to send them to a male prison (even though it is very hard to have any sympathy for someone who killed a load of children) but logically you would expect the usual suspects to be demanding they are sent to a male prison in keeping with their gender identity. Bet that doesn't happen though.

Seeing as the shooter has been shot dead by police I don't think we need to be worrying about whether they end up in a male or female prison in this instance🙄

I was responding specifically to this quote they made

"You really don't give up on the trans bashing on this website do you?"

Without a full detailed analysis on Mumsnet then they cannot fully accurately make that analysis.

What are you talking about? What do they need a full academic breakdown of an argument to make it valid? It's not about you is it? People can comment without writing a full essay. People are entitled to an opinion even if it doesn't tally with yours

NBC are reporting it, so I think it’s beyond speculation now. A trans-identifying female. Second school shooting by a TIF in the last few years.
AFAIK there has never been a school shooting by someone biologically female but not trans-identifying.

You might be too young to remember this. https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/the-boomtown-rats-i-dont-like-mondays-dark-backstory/

The incredibly tragic backstory to The Boomtown Rats song ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’

The fact that the person who has done the shooting is allegedly a trans person is irrelevant. You really don't give up on the trans bashing on this website do you?

Because you've decided the perpetrator's physical and mental state is irrelevant?
You wouldn't want to pursue or investigate any angles which means such deaths won't ever recur? Or we need to take your word for it?
You are advocating for those taking long term medication with unknown psychological side effects and you don't even entertain the thought that there might be questions around it? Does it make the possibility go away? Or is it a timing thing? How long should we wait before the questions become respectful? Another death which won't happen? Or should we just repeat "thoughts and prayers" and hope for the best? Or are there other questions which are more acceptable this minute? Because I know a host of people who don't want us to say how American this is or how ineffective the gun laws are who would say the exact same 'irrelevant ' line. I have so many questions about how to ask obvious questions of how preventable deaths occurred. Mothers lost their children today. They deserve to know the full truth. That is the respectful thing to do.

The fact that the person who has done the shooting is allegedly a trans person is irrelevant. You really don't give up on the trans bashing on this website do you?

It's massively relevant. Men's crimes are constantly reported as being committed by women.

This bloke was called a woman in a press release today by West Yorkshire police.

It's vanishingly rare for women to commit violent crime. When reports call someone a transgender woman, it's very unclear what sex the person is. And after years of men's crimes being reported as committed by women, I question every single unusual female crime.

Uh no, what a snowflake argument. I'm not trying to stop anyone doing anything & I believe everyone is entitled to an opinion. Maybe you should leave eh? You don't like being challenged.
It's pathetic how people like you hide behind your own idealistic narrow view, making everything about your own prejudice.

What prejudice? You haven't challenged me on anything. I didn't even say a single opinion on this news story in my reply to you get you're saying I have an idealistic narrow view? About what? That people should be allowed to go on the gender discussion topic and talk about gender?

notsayingmuch · 27/03/2023 23:35

Ok Messy, what is it you want to say about the people that have been killed?

Since they're referring to this person as a woman and transgender and using female pronouns, it must be a man. If this person was an actual woman who identified as transgender they'd use male pronouns, wouldn't they?

Or is it that if a man identifies as a woman and commits a crime, he's a woman, but if a woman identifies as a man and commits a crime she's still a woman?

Maybe it's about people who have been killed. What about that

Wiccan · 27/03/2023 23:33

Dodgeitornot · 27/03/2023 23:31

@Katypyee Who's trans bashing? What the hell does that even mean, what an awful expression. People are trying to figure out the sex of the perpetrator. The only thing that's been disclosed in their gender and as you know, that can easily be different to their sex.
Unlike most other mass shooting reports, which happen daily in the US, this one had female plastered on every single headline because it's so so rare.
Before we start artificially inflating female crimes, people understandably want to know what happened and what the sex of this person is. I don't think that's unreasonable esp as these stats are extremely important in fighting for the safety of females and other vulnerable groups.
