This is now the world we live in. Violent and hateful men get rewarded for using violence against women.

In the comments after this tweet is a question as to the source of this information, and it is shown to be from the person concerned’s own twitter thread.

I appreciate anyone can write a wikipedia entry (though watch out for the bros who have appointed themselves as editors) but thought as so much was about what the UN had or hadn't done that nobody would have made that up.

But then I think, who knows, if it suits their agenda they have let it stand.

I am sure if anyone is bothered enough it would be possible to see if the entries match with UN PRs at the time.

But quite honestly I feel a bit silly wasting time on this self promoting individual.

“Rubashkyn fled New Zealand shortly after being made aware that police were planning on issuing a warrant for his arrest on charges of assault”

So - tipped off by the police, then.

I'm sure I read an article where the circumstances Eli describes were very close to CAIS because her body does not respond to testosterone and after childhood surgery she was given additional testosterone to no avail, because her body converted it to oestrogen. Elizabeth said that their voice has never broken. If she has an extreme case of PAIS her body may not have looked unambiguously female at birth but it cannot be masculinised because it doesn't respond to T. I assume understanding of DSDs and the most appropriate and humane treatment wasn't that good in her home country as a child. I'm sure the experience would make anyone feel like an outsider. No excuse for the assault and the hatred directed at women, but it doesn't sound like a straightforward situation.

happydappy2 · 30/03/2023 22:01

Elaina says themself via the CNN article, that they were born male.

only one sex can become trans women, and it isn’t female.

Motorina · 30/03/2023 21:55

The wikipedia article goes on to say, "She was assigned male at birth, but was born with an intersex condition known as Partial Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome."

ScrollingLeaves · 30/03/2023 20:52

known for being the first intersex person assigned male at birth legally recognised as a womanwith a UN mechanism

I was not sure that this really meant Eliana had a DSD and had been wrongly thought to be male at birth.

Lots of men say they are ‘intersex’ without it being true that they have a DSD, ‘assigned’ a sex when their sex was just recorded, and become a woman legally through some official system.

Intersex - Wikipedia

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex

happydappy2 · 30/03/2023 20:15

only "one" sex

happydappy2 · 30/03/2023 20:10

My name is Eliana Rubashkyn and I was born in Bogotá, Colombia. I’m a trained pharmacist and speak five languages fluently, and until recently, I was studying for an MBA in Health Administration in Taiwan on a government scholarship. I also used to be a man.

Taken from CNN website-lets face it, only sex can become trans women

happydappy2 · 30/03/2023 20:01

but wikipedia posts can be re-written by anyone with an agenda

IwantToRetire · 30/03/2023 19:49

I wonder if she is a female with a DSD who was wrongly thought to be male when she was born?

Isn't that what the wikipedia post I quoted is saying?

Eliana Rubashkyn (Ukrainian: Еліана Рубашкін; Russian: Элиана Рубашкин; Hebrew: אליאנה רובשקין; born 25 June 1988) is a New Zealand pharmacist and chemist, known for being the first intersex person assigned male at birth legally recognised as a woman with a UN mechanism under the international refugee statute. Born in Colombia, Rubashkyn was formerly stateless. She[a] currently works as a programme officer at ILGA world,[1] and as a harm reduction scientist developing human right campaigns of support addressed to LGBTI asylum seekers, refugees and intersex persons around the world.[2]

Rubashkyn's gender was recognised under the United Nations' 1951 Convention relating to the Status of Refugees.[3] Rubashkyn's case attracted international media and legal attention after her mistreatment following her detention at Hong Kong International Airport because of the lack of congruence between her gender identity and her passport photo,[4][5][6] resulting in several years of statelessness in Hong Kong, and inhumane reclusion into several refuge centers across Yuen Long.

I suspect it is another old photo used to prop up the story about the UN.

And on one level it is really strange if you are trying to validate who you are and what you are doing why post info that can be shown to be untrue.

eg this news story today https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2023/03/30/arresting-and-charging-trans-activist-eli-rubashkyn-is-pointless-and-stupid/

Looks to me like he's lying his arse off, because it's bloody cold in New York.

MarshaBradyo · 30/03/2023 18:05

Is this real?

IwantToRetire · 30/03/2023 18:02

Just had time to read through this and see that there are doubts about the claim reposted by another twitter account re the UN. And am sorry to have repeated it.

Eli or whatever name it is, is now claiming the photo used was from a visit to the UN for CSW67.

But today has posted a photo saying it is from inside the ladies toilets at the UN.

So the account may not be a spoof, but it seems to be used to promote a fantasy construction of Eli's life.

eg there is a phote apparently from New York (not that I know it but based on films!) https://twitter.com/ElianaRubashkyn/status/1641482272292638720

But has resigned from ILGA so as not to distract from their work.

But have given up looking as it just shows you can post anything on twitter and if enough people believe it it becomes fact.

Is this his real Twitter account or a spoof one?

Looks real to me. Perhaps they've reinstated it.

A criminal on the run.

TheBiologyStupid · 30/03/2023 12:39

Datun · 30/03/2023 11:39

It's just a photo of them at the UN. There's nothing about an award, nor is there a date. And the person has deleted their Twitter. So it can't have been tweeted today.

Thanks, Datun.

FrostyFifi · 30/03/2023 12:19

I don't understand how anyone can look at this, at Dylan Mulveny, at all the prominent members of this group receiving money, awards, recognition, career success, and still insist on Most Marginalised.

I've never seen such a privileged group in my entire life.

lifeturnsonadime · 30/03/2023 11:46

I saw that picture on twitter earlier on the week. I think an arrest warrant is out now for this individual but they've boarded a plane to the US.

Various keen-eyed Twitterati have pointed out various reasons as to why those photos don’t stack up. Such as there being no plane from NZ to NY at the time given, and the broad daylight on the alleged NY pics being somewhat, erm, improbable for 1am. Etc etc.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/03/2023 12:18

Seems a real charmer.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/03/2023 12:15

Sorry, not the same person as this thread is about, though I expect they know each other. Shaneel Lal is apparently the person who led the way taking down the barriers.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/03/2023 12:13

Has now won an award, apparently. Young New Zealander of the Year, awarded by KiwiBank. https://twitter.com/shaneellall/status/1641340779254923266?s=20

What faith should there be then in the UN?

Their stupidity in this beggars belief. So what else is the UN doing that is equally thoughtless?

I'm guessing you haven't seen The Whistleblower. (2010 film starring Rachel Weisz, based on a true story.)
