In admiration of those who spoke today, and to ensure that your words are not drowned out and not heard. Here's a transcript (with apologies for any mis-types or mis-heards!)

Wow pombear thanks so much for transcribing all those speakers. It's an incredible amount of work and very much appreciated.

Absolutely this! Thanks so much for all of the effort that this thread must have taken.

nilsmousehammer · 27/03/2023 12:39

Thank you so much for getting all this into print! It's been great to read the words of all these women, some great speeches in there.

Well done Pombear. Job well done on helping the women to have their voices heard.

WomanXXWorldsOriginsofMothersofAllNations · 27/03/2023 01:50

Thank you 👏

Your hard work is much appreciated pombear

Wow that Andrew Doyle clip was incredible, he was so angry, and rightly so!

Appalonia · 27/03/2023 00:57

Wow OP what an amazing thing to do! I was watching the live stream but gave up in frustration eventually as the noise from the protesters made it impossible to hear. Thank you! X

Sorry I don't subscribe to the Times and can't do a share token but this article was available free when I clicked on it.

FannyCann · 27/03/2023 00:52

Thank you @pombear

And thank you to all the women who attended.

I couldn't make it today but plan to go at the end of April.

Meanwhile here is some good news:

Time is up for stonewall.

I'm going to work my way through this later, but just wanted to say thank you so much pombear for going to the trouble to do this- for making sure that brave women's words are heard.

Imevery · 27/03/2023 00:26

Thank you. Such brave, inspiring women. No 13 brought tears to my eyes.

clopper · 27/03/2023 00:16

Well done pombear such a lot of work and interesting to read.

TangledUpinBlu · 27/03/2023 00:03

Last Sunday of the month, which in April is the day before a bank holiday Monday so I can attend without so much logistical bother and hope it will be the same for many others with caring responsibilities and or full time jobs.
I'm determined to be there after the shit show that was this weekend.
Can anyone advise what time meet ups start before hand and roughly when women start dispersing from the pub after?
I'm coming on the train from the midlands and don't want to miss anything but equally don't want to be hanging around too much.

BlessedKali · 26/03/2023 23:56

When and where are the next Let Women Speak events? Im definitely going.

ohfibonacci · 26/03/2023 23:53

Oh and thank you so much Pombear. That was incredible to read. Did you film it then transcribe after?

ohfibonacci · 26/03/2023 23:52

Hi @Lydiahateswashing can you use a text reader? My kids are all dyslexic and they use text to speech.

TrombonesAreNotBones · 26/03/2023 23:43

Thankyou Pombear.

I am sorry for offending you. I didn’t mean to 😞

And this is where, hopefully, we've both just demonstrated that through conversation and hearing each other, even on an internet forum, we understand where each other are coming from, listen to how something has landed, and go 'oh, OK, I get where you were coming from'.

You didn't offend me, and hopefully I didn't offend you. I now understand your original comment and get where you were coming from, and I'm hoping you understood my comeback from how I'd misread your ask for tldr.

Maybe we could model the way for other thread/forum/internet miscommunications!

I appreciate your challenge to the text wall.

It takes quite a long time to transcribe events like this, particularly against the backdrop of the noise that these speakers faced, and to be asked to do a TLDR after a couple of hours work didn't land well!
I started the thread so it stood as a record of what women said, because the film is difficult for many people to hear, particularly those with conditions where the sirens, shouting and other noise makes it even more difficult to follow along. It's not designed as a chat thread to discuss or summarise the event, as there are threads elsewhere. I have tried to chunk the paragraphs up as much as possible, and to split some of the longer speeches into a couple of posts.

Hopefully the other thread I've linked to will give you an understanding of what was going on.

Thank you so much, OP. This is brilliant.

I’m sorry that you jump to that aggressive conclusion.

not that I should have to explain, but actually have dyslexia and find that amount of text really hard to read and process but wanted to understand what was going on.

Women spoke.

Some people didn't like it and tried to drown their voices out. Here is what they said.

Men can't be women. Women can't be men.

Women's safety, privacy and dignity is important.
Children's safety is paramount.

Sorry you haven't got time to read the testaments of women speaking in a really intimidating space in London today.

I’m sorry that you jump to that aggressive conclusion.
