Boycott New Zealand

Let's hit the state sanctioned violence against women where it hurts - in their pockets.

Off the top of my head:

Wine - Oyster Bay, Villa Maria, the Ned, Wairau Cove, Brancott Eatate, Cloudy Bay
Lamb - check the label to make sure it's British
Manuka honey and ordinary honey - M&S stock quite a few.
Wool
Allbirds shoes
Canterbury clothing.

Have I missed anything?

Also write to the PM: [email protected]
Minister for trade: [email protected]

And tell them you're boycotting and why. There's no point if they don't know you're doing it!

@Relaxingtime is exactly the reason New Zealand does need to know Posie exists and open their minds to a broader message. Break out of the bubble. It takes a bit of time and thought though relaxing.

RosaBonheur · 28/03/2023 10:30

@Relaxingtime You are aware that both Posie Parker herself and a 70 year old woman were assaulted by a violent mob of trans activists, right?

Lockheart · 28/03/2023 10:29

MarshaBradyo · 28/03/2023 10:22

We didn’t know you celebrated women punched in the face until recently.

I'm so sick of seeing this stupid response to anyone who disagrees with prevailing opinion. There is literally nothing to suggest PP "celebrates woman being punched in the face". It's facile and bad faith.

Whaeanui · 28/03/2023 10:29

@Relaxingtime she was invited by a group of women including Maori women who organised it, dismissing them is racist.

Ndd135632 · 28/03/2023 10:26

The penny will soon drop for @Relaxingtime

TiedUpWithABlackVelvetBand · 28/03/2023 10:26

Maybe clue yourself up @Relaxingtime

It’s a bit awkward for you otherwise.

Have you been asleep the last few days? Have you missed the footage of women getting punched. That’s ugly.

Well said!
Posie parker go find some country who wants you, it is not Nz.
We never knew you existed until recently 🤣

A Māori women’s group invited her. So racist and misogynist. We see you.

You don't speak for them. You don't speak for anyone except yourself.

You missed that she was invited by a Maori women's group? It is NZ who wants her.
Maybe what NZ doesn't want is you.

NZ woman here. Currently feel very safe, thank you very much, as do all my female friends. Yes, we are urban, educated women, but from all sides of the political spectrum. Feel very proud that we stood by our transgender sisters, and can't help but laugh at how much this has caused the UK to froth: why are you so concerned about us? Focus on your own country, and the climate of fear in which you are living. We are absolutely fine, and proud to be leading the world in female rights again. Mumsnet does not represent the way the huge majority of my friends feel, and Posey Parker most definitely does not speak for me: the coloniser arrogance...

boycott away!

Billy Bragg's a prime arsehole, more like.

That is true although he has a fair few keeping him company in turning a blind eye to this violence.

anyolddinosaur · 28/03/2023 10:15

This has inspired me to donate to Standing For Women, didnt know you could do that previously. I prefer positive action to negative.

We had a nearly 4 week trip to New Zealand cancelled by covid. We hadnt yet rearranged it and were thinking of later this year but I dont think we'll be going now. We were intending mainly to visit the South Island and I know they could do with tourists but my disgust at the NZ media and police is putting me off.

SinnerBoy · 28/03/2023 09:53

@MarshaBradyo

What do you think of the violence against the 70 year old woman who was punched repeatedly in the face?

I can't speak for them, but it seems that some pro trans people "condemn all violence," but won't address a particular incident. Billy Brag's a prime example.

Several people here have mentioned experiences of living in, working in, or visiting N.Z. My daughter has lived and worked in N.Z, for example.

What you failed to note was way back at the beginning of the thread a few self righteous N.Z posters. launched themsleves, newly, onto the forum with accusations of 'bigotry', 'colonialists' and all the rest, whilst posting a litany of the supposed failings and atrocities of the U.K. People have responded to such goading by highlighting the way in which New Zealand is also not exactly the land of milk and honey in many respects.

It certainly seems to be a few years behind Britain when it comes to exposure to different sides of this debate, media coverage and so on.

@NotHavingIt - what does your daughter living and working in NZ have to do with anything? Does that make you some sort of self-appointed expert on the country?

And ‘what I have failed to note’?! Have you mixed me up with someone else?

I called someone out for their embarrassing use of the word ‘colonialist’ to British posters…? Are you confusing me with someone else..?

And as for NZ being a few years behind the UK on this issue - well, I couldn’t agree with you more.

I feel like maybe you’re screaming into the wind…. ?

Seems the police in both countries are still brainwashed however.

In the last census it was recorded that 8.3% of the residents of NZ were born in the UK, making it the largest single group of immigrants within NZ.

You need to own your issues and stop thinking other countries are doing it to you.

Whether they be bigotry or violence against women.

Whataboutery. The most worrying thing in NZ is what the politicians and mainstream media are saying. Including female journalists. That’s the main issue. At least in the U.K. now we are over this one sided narrative.

So are they immigrants or colonialists?

And is it only those born in the UK who are bigots who don't think penises belong in women's spaces?

landOFconfusion · 28/03/2023 09:43

RosaBonheur · 28/03/2023 09:00

Exactly how old ARE these white bigots of yours? Because New Zealand gained statutory independence in 1947, which is over 75 years ago.

I'm glad you were appalled about the violence perpetrated by the trans activists at this protest. Your politicians seem to be mightily pleased about it though.

I’m a lefty born and bred, but won’t be voting Labour this year. This doesn’t come naturally to me.

The last time this happened was when I was living in the UK, in the aftermath of the Iraq war, and the Tony Blair ‘if you knew what I knew’ debacle.

Chris Hipkins wants to sweep this under the carpet BIG TIME.

He has no idea what’s coming.

As much as I tend to lean left or centre left politically, lack of opposition is always a bad thing for democracy.

To use the UK as an example, I might not want the Tories to be in power, but I think we need them to be in power some of the time otherwise we become a single party state. Although my preference would be to have a lot more than two options, and ideally a PR system resulting in coalitions, so we can keep all political parties on their toes without lurching from left to right and back again every decade or so.

At the moment I think the left needs telling that women won't stand for this. That we might be naturally left leaning and tolerant and inclusive and all the rest of it, but that they can't just count our votes before we've cast them, and if they put us and our needs last, we won't vote for them. And they need to do some soul searching and think about the reason why we don't want to vote for them. Because it certainly isn't because we've been brainwashed by the right wing media and all become Nazis overnight. The suggestions to this effect are highly offensive and show exactly what you think of our level of intelligence.
