Following on from the last couple of days in Australia, New Zealand and London yesterday, it looks like TRAs surrounded this weeks #Letwomenspeak gathering but I think the police have now moved them on, so hopefully everyone is safe.

I see the New Zealand consulate in Edinburgh had a visit from the ribbons & sticker women today. 💚🤍💜

I went. As far as I know everyone got away safely but the police told us that they had to let the TRAs keep their megaphone because their human rights trumped the bye-laws.

I'm glad you're safe. We need a megaphone.

Well if the Troons can ignore the by laws .....you need a decent sound system.

That police officer that Glinner interviewed was pathetic. And really dismissive about the danger the women were in. You'd think, after the recent report about how misogynistic the Met are, they might want to be seen to be protecting women, but no...

As somebody said, the Met have been labelled misogynist and homophobic- but not transphobic. Isn’t that interesting.

RhannionKPSS · 26/03/2023 16:30

Well next time the women take a megaphone too!
Well done all the fantastic women who turned up to speak. Hope you are all safe & sound. It was so lovely to hear you all singing our Lucy’s new words to an auld song. Women’s rights are human rights!

Appalonia · 26/03/2023 16:30

A megaphone is not a bloody human right.

One gay man is better than none but utterly shameful.
Dr. Em is there and the fab Dr. Julia Long
With the terrible reports about the misogyny of the Met, you'd think these morons would like to look good, actually protecting women...

TangledUpinBlu · 26/03/2023 16:02

I will be there next month.
The Monday is a bank holiday so no work/school so that should make it easier for a few people, I hope there will be a massive turn out to welcome Posie home.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 26/03/2023 16:01

Venice Allan
Jan from Object
Dr. Emma Hilton
Dr. Julia Long
Aja the Fearless
DJ Lippy

Dr Emma Hilton is also a great speaker and a tireless campaigner for women's rights in sport, but she wasn't there today as far as I know. You mean Dr Em.

ExiledElsie · 26/03/2023 15:55

Senior police officer extremely dismissive of safety concerns. They were there to protect "everyone". Apparently they can't tell the difference between women meeting to listen to speeches and aggressive youngsters.

Only one side showed any aggression

Were the women able to leave safely?
And notice zero gay men supporting them.

Not sure. Aja just posted this:

Most of us at the pub, not heard of any issues leaving.

At least 1 gay man was with the women. One day I'll remember to ask his name.

Boiledbeetle · 26/03/2023 15:51

This should be beyond fucking belief and yet it is so unsurprising.

When are the police actually going to do their bloody job?

Well, it seems we have a list of women to add to the “queens” thread:

Venice Allan
Jan from Object
Dr. Emma Hilton
Dr. Julia Long
Aja the Fearless
DJ Lippy

and every other nameless woman who attended.

WickedSerious · 26/03/2023 15:09

Disgusting that those nutjobs were allowed to get that close to the women but I do love that sticker.

Whaeanui · 26/03/2023 15:06

Frightening.

Rainonthehorizon · 26/03/2023 14:57

Demonstrating how close the TRAs are being allowed to get to the women.

Although obviously whoever did this was very naughty. 😁

"Police protect the fascists"

Oh fuck off

I don't know what you hope to achieve. You look truly mental.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2023 14:40

'We can't leave. May be a while. The TRAs are starting fisty cuffs. May be a while. Can anyone get me a large Merlot if you have made it out please? Thirsty face.'

This is awful, emboldened by the violent extremists TRAs in Aotearoa NZ. I hope everyone is ok.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2023 14:39

Women are being kettled, apparently, by 'screaming TRAs'.
