'drumming overhead for the last hour; chanting, shouting, fake sirens; people waiting outside for us to come out, protesting that lesbians are meeting without men present. They have come to violate our space and “teach” us a lesson in compliance.'

'The police advise there is another exit. They have blocked the road outside, have erected tents. They are waiting for us.'

'I am so angry A woman has said her rapist is in the protest outside I am SO ANGRY Lesbians cannot meet without men punishing us with violence in 2023'

Solidarity with the women meeting today. I'm so bloody sorry you're having to navigate this shit show.

Two protests on two consecutive days where the police have looked incompetent, biased and having no fucks to give about women. The comments on social media are all one way and sharply against both police and thuggish mob misogynism.

I guess something that actually benefits lesbians, like the lesbian project, wouldn't get a seat in the House of Lords. It's not male inclusive enough.

All power to Kathleen stock and Julie Bindel. I am so grateful they are doing this.

I’d imagine there have been rather a lot of closeted cross dressing heterosexual men sat on the benches of both Parliamentary Houses over the last hundred years or so.

@Helleofabore
We actually had no problems last night at the screening. For some reason the tra went to another area to protest , look at tik tok.

Hope women are safe as this is seriously getting out of hand

CryptoFascistMadameCholet · 26/03/2023 19:19

Ruth Hunt got a seat in the Lords.

‘Baroness Hunt of Bethnal Green’

Perhaps Nancy and Linda just want one next to her?

surely they can’t giving pervy men access to lesbian spaces just for fun?

SapphosRock · 26/03/2023 19:11

What I really don't understand is the persistence of lesbians such as Linda Riley and Nancy Kelley force teaming lesbian women with AGP men. It just doesn't work. Lesbians have nothing in common with autogynephiles.

We all have to play along and pretend we see these men as women. We have to welcome these paraphilic males into our lesbian spaces and lesbian dating pools.

None of it benefits lesbians. The paraphilic males love it.

And if we don't play along and try and create a single lesbian space just for ourselves the men throw their toys out the pram and throw a huge protest.

It's such bullshit.

And I know lesbians like Linda Riley, Nancy Kelley and Ruth Hunt see it. They are intelligent women, they must see it. But they pretend not to see it and play along with the paraphillc males.

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2023 19:10

Interesting to see this passerby record the protest, and how it unfolds.

Lesbians cannot meet unless: Under His Eye

I experienced the queer (male) takeover of Lesbian groups about 5 years ago. This isn't new to me. But it stayed within gay subculture.

Then they came for the straight women and children.
But it is finally out and women are horrified.

Good.

No homosexuality allowed.

No lesbians to be permitted to exist unless they are sexually useful to men.

This is what 'so oppressed' apparently means now. Rather like 'woman' and 'kind', it has been twisted into an entirely new shape that serves men.

WagnersFourthSymphony · 26/03/2023 17:38

“Women have very little idea of how much men hate them" - Germaine Greer.
It seems that every generation has to learn this afresh. 😡

Tradeup · 26/03/2023 17:32

Men protest women for refusing to lower their boundaries.

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/03/2023 13:50

Well doesn't this speak loud and clear as to why we need the Lesbian Project?

This weekend has been distressing for women.

Between Auckland, this protest at The Lesbian project, and wasn’t there a protest at the documentary screening, the hatred expressed at women speaking and meeting has been a crescendo.

I hope that none of the women were physically hurt or assaulted in any way.

That a woman has reported that her rapist was protesting outside is horrific. And I don’t doubt the significant mental and emotional impact on all those attending the events of these protests. Particularly for women survivors of male violence of any kind.

Is it time for the L to remove themselves from the LGBT*???

Get the L Out have been trying to do just that for years — but the bastards won't let us go because they want to be us and exploit us:

This protest is listed on this website of "peaceful trans protests": https://www.stonewallwasariot.co.uk/

I think I might have a different view from them of what constitutes "peaceful"...

If you are looking up or posting to The Lesbian Project on Twitter, take care it’s the correct, verified account.
One of them is CursedE’s fake.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 26/03/2023 10:04

there seems to be a massive surge in homophobia, it's so depressing

on the plus side, the meeting looks amazing, and it's brilliant to see Julie Bindel and Kathleen Stock organising. Two doers who make things happen

Theunamedcat · 26/03/2023 10:01

Can they sue the police for not protecting them? Seriously its gone far enough there are enough examples of the police willfully ignoring this

ArabellaScott · 26/03/2023 09:50

'Hate crime' was never about protecting minorities. It was only about exercising power and restricting free speech.

Tabitha1960 · 26/03/2023 08:53

"Why isn't this a hate crime?

Intimidating homosexual women so they stop meeting. Why isn't this a homophobic hate crime?"

Because it was all a pretence. Hate crimes only apply when a female uses a wrong pronoun or puts up a sticker. Actual violence by males against females does not count.

ThereIbledit · 26/03/2023 02:32

"we will not be divided"

Um. You're literally threatening part of the group that you claim to not want to be divided from. You're hating on them. Just in case you hadn't noticed. If you find them so abhorrent, let them go 🙄

How come the police always protect transwomen, but never biological women?

Harassment is a crime. The police will arrest someone over putting up a women’s rights sticker, but this they shrug off. Shocking.

Now watch the BBC ignore it. If it was transwomen being harassed it would be front page on the BBC website. But it’s only women, so the BBC will go back to navel gazing.

Because they're men. They like to protect them

NoSweat · 26/03/2023 02:01

WildIris · 25/03/2023 17:24

“queers of all persuasions”

In other words, straight men.

Fancy dress optional

IwantToRetire · 26/03/2023 00:42

I hope everyone got home safe. I wasn't that sure of the value of the meeting when announced, but now I have seen what happened I am really angry.

And the media just dont report. Every thing about the last few days has just made it so clear that right or left, social or main stream, women just have no status.
.

I often do a mental 'in the 90s' test, where I look at an event and think 'if this had happened in the 90s, what would the reaction have been?'

So in the 90s, a mob of violent, chanting men outside a peaceful lesbian event would have been a horrifying, homophobic hate crime and the media would have been aghast and all over it.

Now? Cheer them on. Because...'transphobia'
.

How can we be in a world where people who think they're progressing are protesting lesbians. What's the difference between this mob and the Westboro Baptist Church? They're both hideously homophobic
.

I suppose that in some bizarre subconscious recognition of the reality of sex, it would seem homophobia is only about men.

We need to start talking about lesbophobia.
