Standing for Women - NZ tour discussion. (To prevent further derailing of the thread for centring the women)

Let’s move the general discussion about the New Zealand ‘Let Women Speak’ tour out of the thread set up to centre the women speaking at the Australian and New Zealand tours.

This was the live feed.

https://www.youtube.com/live/eDuy2Kx2HlI?feature=share

The event was over run by violent trans activists. Not only did they use the usual intimidation tactics, but also threw substances at Kellie Jay, the women and the security.

Bosky, can a video be produced from all the footage and in the description say if this is your footage can you contact us to attribute it you? Especially if it's just members of the public? And not companies/corps?

In one of those links, I can't recall which one, it says that attribution in the video description is not enough to counter a copyright claim or strike.

However, practically speaking, I think it makes a difference when dealing with humans, who are likely to appreciate the goodwill and courtesy, rather than robot algorithms. If someone spots that their work has been re-uploaded they are less likely to be hurt or annoyed and might be very happy to have their work copied with attribution. Others will be less generous.

It is very annoying when people steal your work without attribution. I spent a lot of time making a quite lengthy "historical documentary" type video of a disaster in which many people died because I was shocked that there was not a single video about it. I went to the trouble of obtaining permission to use all the photographs and audio I included, listing full credits and permissions in the description.

It has been stolen umpteen times over the years without any attributions or credits to anyone. I think that is pretty bad form but, as the original audio was not copyrighted by the composer it is not flagged up automatically by the algorithms. It is still the most popular video by far on my Channel but there is no "loss" to me I did not monetise it, feeling that would be disrespectful to the subject matter and the relatives of those who died. It annoys me for that reason that some people who have stolen it have also monetised it as I feel they are fraudulently profiting from a horrible tragedy. I am not going to bother going after them for it though. Life is too short 🤷‍♀️

I think that it may have been a mistake to decline interviews. They could at least have had a chance to put their side and to have insisted on having some of the footage shown.

Am I right to assume that in NZ, like the UK, people being interviewed have a definite right to reply?

I wonder if anyone here knows the law. Can these videos be spliced together (fully acknowledging the source ) and kept on YouTube before they are deleted by their owners?

That is a good idea. It's really frustrating when a video disappears. Even more common on Twitter and other social media when a post gets reported or an account suspended.

The guy who made the overhead drone videos asked for acknowledgment when one of his videos was downloaded and clipped without attribution. The clip was to highlight footage of the "Attack of the 50 Foot Drag Queen".

So he might be OK with his videos being re-uploaded with acknowledgement?

https://mobile.twitter.com/SimonRAnderson1/status/1639864192437194752

Sometimes it is hard to know who shot the original video, as in the case above. That clip was taken from a copy that someone else had made without attribution.

This is all off the top of my head from memory so best to check the content in the linked articles in case I have got anything wrong:

If someone does "claim copyright" when a video is re-uploaded to YouTube then you might get a "copyright strike" (three strikes and YouTube nukes your Channel).

Copyright claims and copyright strikes are different things:

https://tuberanker.com/blog/copyright-claim-youtube

However, you get the opportunity to contact the copyright owner who has complained, in order to request permission to leave the copy up.

https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/7002106?hl=en

It's mostly big companies like Warner Bros that are arses and refuse permission and get YT to delete videos they claim. In one notorious case a woman who demonstrates crochet techniques had her video deleted because there was a radio playing quietly in the background. One of the songs played for about 15 seconds was copyright to Warner Bros so they claimed copyright of her video and had YT delete it.

If it is a normal, sensible person they will probably let you keep the video up as long as you agree to their copyright claim, which enables them to receive any advertising revenue accrued from views of the copy on your Channel.

As part of the process of uploading there is an automated check to see if the material is copyrighted:

https://www.trustedreviews.com/how-to/tell-if-youtube-content-is-copyrighted-4129385

IIRC there is a privacy issue with the copyright claim process. Remember that creep Yaniv? IIRC the channel's email is shared with the copyright claimant - I can't find confirmation of that but there is something in the back of my mind about JY obtaining contact details of channel owners via the copyright claim system.

There are easy ways to download YT videos here:

http://deturl.com/

For Twitter and other social media platforms, do an internet search for, eg. "Download Twitter video" and there should be several options in the search results.

The Labour Party and the Lib Dem’s and the Greens are a dire threat to women’s rights.

It’s fucking shocking that it has come to this.

BlessedKali · 26/03/2023 23:24

This might sound mad to some - but since yesterdays scenes i have actually decided i will vote Conservative for the first time ever.

Why?

Up until yesterday I had got to a point where I knew I could not vote green, lib dem nor labour, due to their TWAW stance, but I also didn't want to vote conservative, for many, many reasons. I called myself politically homeless.

But after witnessing those scenes in Auckland, I realide how out of hand things can get if the politicians don't take women's rights seriously.

And so I think I am actually going to vote conservative because I have the most faith that they will protect freedom of speech, womens rights and also not capitulate to loud angry youth.

Not sure what's more terrifying:Totalitarian mob siding with repeated punching of 70 year old woman (pictured) thinking they are right side of history. Deafening silence of politicians to condemn this violent misogyny (with some in my own party either making light or condoning)

Childrenofthestones · 26/03/2023 22:28

Excellent coverage on GB news with Andrew Doyle, the only decent one I've seen by any broadcaster, followed by a discussion with Ella Wheelan and Helen Joyce.

Posie Parker attacked by trans activists: 'They turn to violence because silencing didn't worked'

'They think if they can silence you they don't need to protest... The violence is [now happening] because the silencing hasn't worked.'Helen Joyce and Ella W...

Yeah I have completely lost faith in politicians, all of them. They’re always let downs. My first ever vote went to The Green Party of NZ. I would never vote for them now.

This is Green mp Marama Davidson in the counter protest, saying she knows who commits violence and it’s ‘c*s white men’.
she really said that. It’s easy to prove this is false and I’m embarrassed she has anything to do with government

Laughing as she lies, politicians are odd people.

To all those posters who stated the most ridiculous notion that women meeting would have been allowed, it is ‘just KJK’ that is the issue, how do you explain this weekend ?

The Lesbian Project - protested and one entrance to venue blocked.

Screening of AHF documentary in Manchester - a documentary made by socialist feminists - protested.

An unadvertised group of women meeting at Speaker’s Corner without Kellie Jay Keen - protested by activists with amplification again when amplification is against the by-laws and the history and tradition of Speaker’s Corner.

All this weekend. Diverse groups of women meeting to discuss their needs. No Kellie Jay Keen attendance. All protested with the intention of drowning out women’s voices.

When are posters who are blaming one woman for these protestor’s behaviour going to admit it is NOT a Kellie Jay issue? The intention is clear- this is about silencing women and only about forcing their opinions on women.

How bizarre that this past week posters who have never once been able to support their own argument outside of using misinformation and emotional manipulation have repeatedly resorted to calling regular posters ‘TRA-like’. How fucking hypocritical!

Their own pattern of posting reflects the accusations chanted by extremists who are aiming to silence women.

Apologies.

I was mistaken. It was the 24th March WPUK Manchester conference that was protested. The protestors for the AHF documentary went to the wrong place it seems.

I don’t even know how to comment on this story, I am just so heart sore, and weary, and finding today hard, and I wasn’t even there. To KJK and all the other for real stunning and brave women who were, and all the women who protest under their own name against these fascist TRA thugs Flowers

An account from what happened to a Woman and her 10yr old daughter in NZ today.

Utter Horror!

I watched and saw the commentator looking so happy that the trans activists had stopped women speaking, had shouted them down, made rough music with saucepans - and the commentator was a woman! How could she not see what was going on and that it was the trans activists who were intolerant and violent?

Here is Georgina Beyer and what they actually thought:

‘Georgina Beyer, the world's first openly transsexual mayor and MP, said both sides needed to display a willingness to consider the debate intelligently and urged trans activists to be less adversarial."They need to bring the public along with them .. if women are feeling their gender is under siege then they have a right to express their concerns – to label them transphobic is premature," Beyer said.

https://i.stuff.co.nz/national/106652172/battle-lines-drawn-between-feminists-and-trans-activists-over-sex-self-identification

Yes.

Listen to their concerns.

Then tell them to get to fuck and do what they're told or else.

And then label them transphobic and beat them up.

So much more progressive......

Time Long Past.

I'm afraid if they think showing screaming mobs battering pensioners 'burnishes' NZ's reputation then they're fucked beyond all hope.

💯

Battle lines drawn over sex self-identification

Trans women say they should be able to legally self-identify as women, but some women's groups claim it impacts on their rights.

Did I post on this thread or another one, Georgina Beyer spoke about this flash of tights before her death and said women should be listened to and not immediately called trans phobes. In an article. I posted it on one of these threads, so he is using her name for a messsge she publicly didn’t agree with

I had to use a vpn to read this so have attached screenshots: NZ tourism board has been flooded with complaints. GOOD.

I've started another thread about brands to boycott and included the email addresses of the PM and minister for trade. They need to know the world sees what happened and is disgusted and appalled.

Yes exactly. KJK gets "they're only protesting because she (insert whatever reason here)."
If she's not there - women still can't speak.

Had to sign in to agree with you Helle - should just repost that every time those fuckers start talking shit
