Billy Bragg has tweeted.

Julie Bindel takes to right wing GBNews to smear the trans community with the same trope that was used against gay men in the 1980s - that they are all paedophiles. Has she forgotten that made gays a target for physical violence? Does she care if trans people are now targeted too.

Julie has given him 24 hours to appologise or she will take legal action.

Which ever way you cut that up, it's a win/win for Julie. Personally I'd like to see it hammered out in court, distressful tho that is.

I'd like to see an unequivocal definition of the 'plus'.

Does it include furries, pups, 'littles'?

When institutions fly the rainbow flag, are they advocating for and supporting fetishists? Those who wander around pride with butt plugs and getting pats from children? Are they approving of drag queens entertaining children? Do they approve of the outfits? Prosthetic breasts, thongs, the nipple tassels, the twerking?

Which bits are they promoting? Or condemning?

Julie said she didn't want to be lumped in with MAPs, from this bragg made the massive leap/link that Julie was talking about transpeople.

In a later tweet bragg concedes that Julie didn't say what he claimed, but it was a transphobic dig whistle and he knew what Julie really meant.

Julie Bindel is a definite, biological, based on sex, lesbian.

Pretty certain she also thinks that's a political stance. And I'm sure could back that up until the cows come home.

But she's not pretending to be attracted to women for the sake of her politics.

DemiColon I didn’t know that. It was this type of comment that denies she is a lesbian. Unless they are being deeply sarcastic - it can be hard to see what is real and what is a piss take at times.

All Ms Bindel said is that she did NOT want to be grouped with paedophiles ('minor attracted persons') under the same 'rainbow umbrella' that Stonewall thinks lesbians should join - at risk of being 'sexual racists' according to the head of Stonewall.

Bragg has weak comprehension skills.

It is incredible that a fading male singer so openly displays his distaste for lesbians. This group has been started by Kathleen Stock, Martina Navratilova & Julie yet he openly targets and criticises them for setting up an organisation to ensure that lesbians are heard, visible and included in research.
He seems to have lost his off switch when it comes to displaying his dislike of women.

I wonder if Bragg's most venomous invective is directed towards same-sex attracted women? Mind you, simply being a woman appears (to me) to be enough to render one a target to this retrogressive braggart. Especially women who don't go along with the 'Mr. Men's rights is to be given primacy' cohort.

It seems to be quite the coup of this new age charlatanism - pretending sexism ( and prejudice against lesbians) is 'progressive'.

Billy Bragg would never have had a career if he'd been a woman, because women aren't allowed to get away with not being able to sing.

Not surprised the tedious tosser doesn't believe in freedom of association for lesbians, or that women should be allowed to meet or communicate without male monitoring. Seeing as how he's full on 'Sex work is work!' and 'Up the (sex) workers!' I wonder how he'd feel if a bloke going into a lap-dancing club or brothel wasn't absolutely guaranteed that the women he'd ordered wasn't called Brian last Thursday and doesn't come with a massive beard and cock? I bet he'd say you could be choosy about the company you keep then.

This 'right wing media' narrative is just fuckwittery. We all know it.

It is just lazy people who discount anything from one media source based on some of the other content. The number of threads I have been on in AIBU where somebody keen on fuckwittery writes 'it is the daily mail'.

One regular from this board was on a thread saying that on AIBU and never did return to answer whether they felt that Julie Bindel miraculously changed political allegiance or was now a click bait journo.

It is like people scoffing about 'Murdoch'. Well, Rupert Murdoch's older portfolio of media includes a newspaper directly targeting trade union readers.

Blanket statements about media allegiances where that source is not specifically aimed at one political allegiance is just lazy and those making the arguments lack critical thinking. And even the most biased source may still content something that makes you think deeper to evaluate it, or the very least go and search out the original source to sort fact over fiction.

As an aside reading through the Twitter thread there are a number of people calling Julie a ‘political lesbian’ or ‘identifies’ as a lesbian is shocking especially as she details the abus she has had growing up and coming out. It does show the lack of arguments they have though in that they have to lie to try to undermine her.

GB News isn’t right-wing for god’s sake. Most of it is pretty run of the mill. The BBC has far more of a left-wing bias than GB News has a right-wing one.

Everything is described as right-wing nowadays. Don’t want open borders? You’re right-wing. Don’t believe every young men landing on our shores is a genuine refugee? You’re right-wing. Think maybe kids are generally better off being raised by their biological parents? You right-wing.
