The anti-LGBTQ political climate you are a part of has contributed to this bill passing. It was never going to stop at trans people.

I'm not some liberal for whom marriage equality is the be-all end-all metric of 'progress' or 'freedom', but it's indisputable we're looking at a backsliding of what limited recent progress has been made.

Why is a mainly UKbased forum being blamed for an American law? That's a fair bit of stretching on your part.

Indeed. Take it up with the Americans, OP.

@invalide I expect you know how dishonest you are being. The determination to attribute views and alliances to people that they have not in any way expressed is one of the most pathetic, desperate and infuriating tactics of TRAs. And frankly it shows how few arguments they have.

You do know, don't you, that the belief that sex is binary, unchangeable, and significant is shared by almost everybody on the planet? It follows that it is going to be shared by some people who are reactionary, bigotted shit heads. But, hey, are you going to give up believing in gravity because Hitler believed in it too? Are you a closet Tory because you share Rishi Sunak's belief that Birmingham is north of London?

Fuck off with these weaselly intellectually bankrupt micro-punches.

ArabellaScott · 09/03/2023 13:43

We may be women on a UK parenting forum, but we are not your mum. HTH.

Since when have these people cared about material reality?

Many women on here predicted, and were dreading, the LGB backlash as a result of trans ideology. You're blaming the wrong people.

Transactivists deliberately force teamed with homosexual rights, in order to authenticate their goals.

It's all documented in the Denton report.

What did you think women meant when they said trans ideology is regressive??

Transactivists don't even believe in homosexuality. Take it up with them.

This.

I agree with Datun. If you want to know why this I'd happening, OP, look in the mirror.
The demands of the trans movement have been so extreme that the far right was always going to capitalise on it.
It's been women and gay people, like the LGB Alliance, who have constantly warning that gay rights are at risk of a backlash because of extremism in the trans movement.
You opened the door for this, not us.

The same politicians who count themselves part of your political movement are the ones bringing about these laws. The debate whipped up around trans people's existence has simply been a foot in the door, an acceptable first target to shift the mainstream discourse further right.

Oh it's you again.

How ironic that you would use these words
it's indisputable we're looking at a backsliding of what limited recent progress has been made.

OneLongSmorgasbord · 09/03/2023 13:36

I'm not surprised.
This is the backlash against the LGB that we've been warning about on this board for years.
Do you see how tolerance/acceptance for LGB has gone down while the knowledge of the T has gone up? Do you think it could be related?

ResisterRex · 09/03/2023 13:35

Well said, @Datun and @CharlieParley

We warned about this as a primary risk arising from the gender identity movement.

We highlighted that the overall acceptance of the entire LGBT community was shrinking, even among young adults, solely as a result of extremist trans activist demands when the first US-wide attitude survey showed this a few years ago.

We highlighted just how detrimental it was to include a group whose aims were so different from the LGB community within their community and campaigns.

We particularly highlighted just how self-destructive it was to include a group who deny the very basis upon which the LGB community rests - namely sex from which derives sexuality.

But we were told to shut up about all of that.

We were not wrong when we highlighted the risks of gender identity ideology and the push for self-id to women's rights and children's wellbeing, because we were proved right. And we were not wrong to warn about the risk to the LGB rights, because once again we were proved right.

Feel free to ignore the truth though. It's your modus operandi after all.

RoseslnTheHospital · 09/03/2023 13:30

Oh bore off @invalide

@Datun has explained this clearly to you. Trans activism has got nothing to do with LGB rights and activism, and its the forced teaming and absurd demands and behaviour from trans activists that has led to any backlash from those on the conservative side of politics.
