Watching Perth now - really good. You can hear everyone clearly.

Just watched the Perth event. Great speakers.
Wish the camera would be less wandering eye tho and focus primarily on the speakers.

Some coverage on Sky News Australia. Lol at the title

That was interesting. Especially the trans person who was there to protest both sides but seemed to dislike the trans activists a lot more.

IwantToRetire · 13/03/2023 17:25

re the articles in the Mail.

I think they are disgusting, and make the Mail look really stupid.

But on the other hand it is quite funny (not for LWS / KJK) but effectively the DM has given over part of their paper / website to articles that could have been written by the SWP or some other left grouping that thinks it owns political morals.

Don't they check copy before it gets published. Apart from anything else they contradict their ealier coverage on Let Women Speak, eg in Glasgow.

Has KJK updated on how her latest police interview went?

Only that the case has been passed to the CPS to decide whether or not to prosecute.

The song at the end was very moving.....
What great women and speeches....
Perth up next.
I hope one day there will be a Restoration Event in which all medals are righteously redistributed.

Those really irresponsible and inaccurate Daily Mail articles were apparently written by a very young writer who also writes about Kit-Kats.

As I have far more experience/ exposure to both KJK and Kit-Kats, I'm happily better qualified to form a more authentic opinion.

As long as you write complete truths for the former and of how utterly disgusting the later is as a food source then go for it!

Just finished watching today's/last nights? Who knows.

I felt so sorry for the Commonwealth/Olympian weight lifter. How demoralised she must have felt going up against a man in a women's event.

And will admit I did, as I do every time I hear it sung by a crowd of women, shed a tear during the song at the end.

Villagetoraiseachild · 12/03/2023 18:51

Next Let Women Speak is in Perth....4 a.m UK time/GMT.

First day the TRA bring morris dancers, the second day they bring their own red flags.

And I thought the lame cabaret in Glasgow was bad Grin

My goodness - does the Daily Mail not check articles before posting.

There is a second article even worse and just plain out lies.

Maybe it just gets automatically posted when all the UK editors are still asleep at home.

Its pure venom. I dont think even the Guardian would publish this type of student paper hyperbole.

I appreciate that people dont want to be linked to the DM, but maybe someone who was at the event could add a comment.

So sorry to here that Australian media has also been captured.

So glad to hear that events have passed off without incident.

Hopefully more will see what the open mic sessions offer women.

EpicChaos · 11/03/2023 23:40

Thanks again @Villagetoraiseachild :-) I'm looking forward to watching it.

Villagetoraiseachild · 11/03/2023 23:23

You are welcome @EpicChaos .
You can find the other dates and times on Standing for Women's Twitter.
Live streamed on You Tube in case anyone didnt know.

Villagetoraiseachild · 11/03/2023 23:18

Just to say if anyone is close to Brisbane and trying to decide whether to go, I would highly recommend it.

I went to my first one this year and was bricking it, but it was brilliant, very well stewarded and the police were great at keeping the protest far apart from the speakers.

The speakers were inspirational and courageous and it's really obvious where to stand if you don't want to be filmed.
You can always wear a mask and shades if you fear it may compromise your friendships or income.

It's a really friendly, supportive and heartwarming event.

OnlyTheWeedsGrow · 11/03/2023 22:35

@IwantToRetire
The coverage you have read is absolutely the stance of the media here in Australia. The mainstream media here is completely captured, as are politicians. The people attempting to get KJK’s visa blocked were Green Party politicians. KJK is absolutely not getting anything like fair coverage or truthful reporting.

BananaBender · 11/03/2023 21:33

It’s 7:33 am Sunday morning in Brisbane right now. Just be aware that in Brisbane we don’t have Daylight Saving but in almost every other state and territory in Australia they do. Normally there’s 3 different time zones across the country but there’s at least 4 during Daylight Saving.

It’s a grey and humid day so far. More light rain overnight. Umbrellas or raincoats needed. If it doesn’t rain then the umbrellas can be used for shade.

I’m not going. I’m too chicken. My DH would have a fit. He doesn’t get it about protecting women’s rights. Anyway I tested positive to Covid today so no going out for me.

ISpyCobraKai · 11/03/2023 21:07

I watched some of it this morning.
Go Aussie women.
I have family there but have to be very careful about what I say to them, however I know a couple definitely are in agreement.

EpicChaos · 11/03/2023 21:03

Very many thanks @Villagetoraiseachild much obliged!

WearyLady · 11/03/2023 20:28

@IwantToRetire
What a truly shocking article (in Daily Mail Australia). I can't believe the level of misrepresentation.

beastlyslumber · 11/03/2023 19:41

Go KJK! Looking good.
