Most stupid centring of men on national women's day

What's the most stupid centring of men you've seen on national women's day. This particularly annoyed me as it is literally centering men with both the messaging and the framing of the male individual.

I haven't got the guts to tell the person that posted it on social media they're an idiot, so will have to content myself with venting here.

It's particularly depressing because she's a bloody teacher and supposedly an intelligent person.

Thank fuck I didn't hold my breath waiting for this ground breaking, Nobel prize shoe-in, all new, up to date science.

You've let us down but worst of all you've let yourself down @ElonsMusky tsk, tsk.

Rainbowshit · 08/03/2023 21:30

Friend's employer put a collage of pictures of their "women" employees on their social media for IWD. Guess the sex of the one who got the biggest, most prominent picture? 🤔

Was so tempted to comment but my IG is in my real name. If it had been twitter...

gazpachosoupday · 08/03/2023 21:30

I heard there was a science presentation

and to answer the OP, Hershey's post didnt go down well

Heyjoewhatsup · 08/03/2023 21:27

Spotted a post from the business department at Cambridge University today for IWD that one of my very distant contacts put a critical comment on. I’ve no connection so didn’t comment myself. It got deleted after a few hours.

Basically said behind all great men are amazing women… wives, mothers etc …. and we need to celebrate them because the men wouldn’t be as amazing without their support. WTAF? I thought I’d stepped back in time… like an episode of Mad Men

WinterTrees · 08/03/2023 21:25

Well this is disappointing. No PowerPoint Musky?

I'll tell the drummers they can go home

Baldieheid · 08/03/2023 21:25

Have I missed this evening's lecture?

Dammit.

Elon, darling, would you be a sweetie and Dropbox your scientific papers along with your presentation notes?
I'll print them out for use tomorrow.

Oh, and don't forget, you can't assume anything about the "lady-brains" on here because it's called Mumsnet. See pp above.
I get scared to post most of the time because a) I'm not a Mum, and b) I've only got a BA (Ist class Hons in a science subject.)

wonderinglywondering · 08/03/2023 21:21

I’ve just remembered at an old workplace the featured blogs on our company Intranet on International Women’s Day were from a middle aged man talking about how women in his life were important, and a transwoman talking about how empowered she was.

As someone who had had to take the company through a grievance process to be able to return to work part time after maternity leave, it was particularly galling.

Theluggage15 · 08/03/2023 21:19

I’m still waiting for someone to explain, without using regressive gender stereotypes, how you live as a woman. Will @ElonsMusky cover this in the science webinar? Can’t wait!

Harveywoo · 08/03/2023 21:18

Not quite the same horror but struggling a bit to diplomatically ignore the social media post of a colleague saying that on IWD she’s saying thanks to all the awesome colleagues, allies and mentors who’ve helped her career and listing 20 odd blokes 0 women. Erm ….

myveryownelectrickitten · 08/03/2023 21:16

*all hail!

myveryownelectrickitten · 08/03/2023 21:15

I, for one, am looking forward to @ElonsMusky ’s explanations. It’s time to end our oppression by gamete dimorphism! All hall the new trans science!

CandyLeBonBon · 08/03/2023 21:13

Just because you quit learning in 8th grade, doesn't mean biology end at the 8th grade level hun.

Does this mean you're going to spout that American Scientist article about xxy/xxx/xyy etc etc chromosomes in the hope of convincing us that 'biological sex is complicated', when in fact, what that article does, is explain that disorders of sex development sometimes cause a 'glitch in the matrix' in males and females, often with life limiting consequences, but in actual fact, is nut evidence of any other sex, besides male or female.

Humans are sexually dimorphic. Even humans who are unable to reproduce are not evidence of a third sex. Women are adult human females who are born with the potential to conceive and gestate offspring. Males are not.

That is the biological reality of human beings,

Everything else is personality, fashion or fetish.

Treaclemine · 08/03/2023 21:12

You forgot the fairy dust, which in this case must be derived from their own x chromosomes, duplicating and inserting onto the end of their damaged y.
It most have been a shock to discover that it wasn't we who were incomplete with no dangly bits , but them without some vital DNA,
Funny I haven't seen any of this new science in New Scientist.

We don’t have “grades” here, “hun”. But I’ve got four postgrad degrees; care to enlighten me on this new science you’re apparently so keen to tell us about….? Or is this “science” just stuff you’ve read on Tumblr?

Oh, I've got a PhD in biochemistry and am an actual working scientist. Please explain your science to me, you won't need to dum it down at all.

Oh dear. I mean, I'm no sciencetta, but that sounds more like childish bants than peer reviewed exciting Novel Science.

I fear I've been getting all excited about nothing. 🙁

titchy · 08/03/2023 20:38

If TWAW, then WATW, so presumably we can centre ourselves on Trans day of remembrance? Remember 'All of us or none of us'!

Now, about that science...

🙏

CandyLeBonBon · 08/03/2023 21:06

It feels like organisations are now too scared to give awards and accolades to ACTUAL women, for fear of the TRA WRATH that will inevitably ensue as a result of daring not to centre men. So yet again, women are collateral damage.

RoseslnTheHospital · 08/03/2023 21:05

Why am I not surprised that you are US based @ElonsMusky?

Explain the biology to us then, at GCSE and A level for us UK types.

Oh so twaw works a little bit like 'I do believe in fairies, I do, I do'.
Glad to have puzzled out the source of the literal violence twam causes.

iklboo · 08/03/2023 20:58

Here for the latest science / magic that means that when some people say “I am a woman!” they magically transform into one.

It's like Peter Pan & 'I can fly'. You just have to believe & wish hard enough and it will all come twue.

iklboo · 08/03/2023 20:55

'BUT WHAT ABOUT MEEEEEEEE'

Fuck's sake.

Despite women's average lifespans being longer than ever, I still don't have enough time to perform the eye rolls appropriate for this shit.
