What's the most stupid centring of men you've seen on national women's day. This particularly annoyed me as it is literally centering men with both the messaging and the framing of the male individual.

I haven't got the guts to tell the person that posted it on social media they're an idiot, so will have to content myself with venting here.

It's particularly depressing because she's a bloody teacher and supposedly an intelligent person.

I prefer the line that “Behind every great woman is another great woman”.

And I wore my t-shirt saying that today.

Lizardonachair · 08/03/2023 22:18

It's sad that I am not even shocked anymore. I just feel so angry about this.

Daisyismynameorisnot · 08/03/2023 22:18

Yawn...come on @ElonsMusky I'm waiting...Hmm

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 08/03/2023 20:06

The amount of likes on the tweet about men versus the likes for the tweets about women...

Findwen · 08/03/2023 22:16

I am sure @ElonsMusky will be right back, but I hope as a man I can clear up everything for you women folk.

“Must a name mean something?” Alice asks Humpty TRAumpty, only to get this answer: “When I use a word… it means just what I choose it to mean – neither more nor less.”

waterbabys · 08/03/2023 22:10

Please come back with the science @ElonsMusky ! I'm going to bed soon (currently 10.10pm UK time) and I'd like a laugh before I turn in!

There is a valid point in there, though. How many men had their wives typing up manuscripts and doing that kind of stuff, in the days before there was word processing? Lots. That’s not to say women did not and could not achieve in their own right, but that many did not get the chance because of social norms, and the work they did was not recognised usually. So it’s that old saying of behind every great man is a great woman, I think.

Maybe, but they should have used the opportunity to highlight the women excelling in business and innovation… not thanking women for cooking cleaning childcare to enable a man to be brilliant at Cambridge University. I thought it was outrageous and so did many others! That’s why they took it down

Also ignoring ActionAid.

depressing that a charity meant to be dedicated to women and girls doesn't centre them, but hey ho.

One Facebook friend posted a photo of Marsha P Johnson, totally misgendering him.
Best ignored, its bait.

Spotted a post from the business department at Cambridge University today for IWD that one of my very distant contacts put a critical comment on. I’ve no connection so didn’t comment myself. It got deleted after a few hours.

Basically said behind all great men are amazing women… wives, mothers etc …. and we need to celebrate them because the men wouldn’t be as amazing without their support. WTAF? I thought I’d stepped back in time… like an episode of Mad Men

it's ok to self ID as a woman but if I were to walk out in public with black face saying I identify as a black woman, I'd be lynched?

'Black and 'lynched' in same sentence. Ignorance personified.

White male born and socialised trumps all. Even in a dress. That's what you very well know and could be discussing if you're so very bothered about self-ID. But you can't bring yourself to speak that truth into life. So you resort to 'cheap shots' offhand racist comments, dissing minorities/othering Black women via useless commentary simply so you don't have to admit that privilege.

To compare Black women to White privilege without a shred of irony, and casually link it with the decades long trauma of Black lynching, is abhorrent albeit I can't say I'm surprised really.

Any form of prejudice tends to sound the same along the line after all

nilsmousehammer · 08/03/2023 21:58

Its quite fantastic how threatened male people get at female people having one solitary day and cannot celebrate them or think about them but have to hurl themselves in front and scream for attention, like a toddler trying to get Mummy off the phone.

CandyLeBonBon · 08/03/2023 21:55

Well @MandyMotherOfBrian if we're censored on here for discussing actual science, I think musky might need to be careful. I mean I'm sure they don't want to offend anyone with their important findings...

MandyMotherOfBrian · 08/03/2023 21:52

WinterTrees · 08/03/2023 21:25

Well this is disappointing. No PowerPoint Musky?

I'll tell the drummers they can go home

I’m guessing there’ll be a version of
‘I’m not doing the leg work for you…educate yourself…’ etc

on a more positive note, the google doodle for IWD looks good and the blurb for it from the artist mentions 'breastfeeding.' It probably would up until the last few years without any controversy.

eurochick · 08/03/2023 21:44

The world is set up by men, for men. There is an international mens day. Can we not just have one solitary day that isn't all about the peen bearers? Ffs.

SquirrelSoShiny · 08/03/2023 21:42

It's everywhere. I'm avoiding it. Particular low marks to the usual outlets reporting on artificially creating eggs out of male mice cells. Yes just had to be done on IWD. Arseholes.

CandyLeBonBon · 08/03/2023 21:40

I'm sorry what? How was me referencing actual biological facts relating to sexual dimorphism in humans considered breaching guidelines exactly @MNHQ?

LaughingCat · 08/03/2023 21:39

I’m confused…what’s wrong with the picture? It’s a bunch of females…

Treaclemine · 08/03/2023 21:37

From which we may determine that his (assumed) support person has failed to reload the printer. Or sent him up with a mug of cocoa.

GailBlancheViola · 08/03/2023 21:31

Thank fuck I didn't hold my breath waiting for this ground breaking, Nobel prize shoe-in, all new, up to date science.

You've let us down but worst of all you've let yourself down @ElonsMusky tsk, tsk.

Indeed.

I'm not angry.

I'm disappointed. Deeply disappointed.

shakes head and tsks tsks tsks under my breath

teawamutu · 08/03/2023 21:33

This was a reply to Peter Pan believing he can fly btw.

teawamutu · 08/03/2023 21:32

But in the spirit of the late, great Bill Hicks - do test your belief while you're still on the ground.
