Well, this is a bit special:

A BBC documentary has sparked outrage after a sex therapist suggested men who have a fetish about sex with unconscious partners should be able to pay women to be drugged

www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-11831307/We-Need-Talk-Bill-Cosby-Sex-therapist-calls-women-drugged-money.html

Is it me or is the world getting madder?

Jesus women are just holes to these people. Makes me feel sick.

DrBlackbird · 08/03/2023 10:51

Not that I’m defending the BBC, but it was an American 4 part documentary made by someone called Walter Kamau Bell that the BBC bought. W. Kamau Bell said he made it to show how Crosby was enabled by his fame and benign persona.

Now yes, you’d think some BBC editor watched the whole series to make a judgement call on its suitability for a uk audience but not sure it’s wholly fair to criticise the BBC for this one crazy person?

Should the BBC not shown a series exposing Crosby because of this one woman? Why Bell included her is anyone’s guess.

Looking at this person's website one could infer that there is money to be made in pressing right wing buttons. Promote yourself as the living embodiment of the most goady, extremist, trolling Twitter thread imaginable and money will get flung at you. Controversy is the jackpot, never mind how many vulnerable women you have to trample over to get the cash. The question is, why did the BBC think this person had anything of value to offer other than televisual clickbait?

Nailed it.

LakeTiticaca · 08/03/2023 10:46

Some people may be shocked to learn what some women ( and men) will do for £££££
There's some pretty weird stuff going on out there

Aweebitpainful · 08/03/2023 10:44

No therapist worth their weight would ever say this drivel… let alone think it.

ehb102 · 08/03/2023 10:43

Vomit.

A sex therapist turning sex into something you do to someone rather than something you do with someone is shockingly bad at their job.

Faffertea · 08/03/2023 10:25

Ok great.
We all know being unconscious is just like being asleep, no risk of harm there.
And men who get off on this shit, sorry, have this completely harmless kink, will definitely respect women’s boundaries and not harm them in any way.

Fucking moronic.
And this person is a professional??

Palmfrond · 08/03/2023 10:23

Her(??) website is a trip!

Aparently she identifies as “superfat” and has denounced “thinness” as a white supremacist beauty ideal.

Wawa-weewa!

Datun · 08/03/2023 10:20

Does she think sex with children is okay, as long as they 'consent' too?

And would the same tosser who signed this off, sign that off as well? In the name of sex positivity?

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 08/03/2023 10:19

Datun · 08/03/2023 10:02

and certainly musings of this kind should not be presented uncritically on the BBC

This.

There are always going to be wackos advocating on behalf of some men's endless, and totally illegal, perversions, but to give it even a hint of legitimacy by hosting a 'discussion' on it?

They should be ashamed. And the whole country should be asking which person, specifically, signed off on it.

Yes

i’m increasingly all about the free speech

I haven’t seen this programme, but if having this wacko spouting her bullshit contributes to the narrative, well fine

but this sure as hell ain’t universally accepted opinion or self evidently correct

if the BBC are going to present something like this it needs to be robustly challenged in the same segment

FourTeaFallOut · 08/03/2023 10:17

Jesus, there's just no upper limit for the level of grim women are expected to tolerate so men can "get their kink out", is there?

Palmfrond · 08/03/2023 10:15

Putting the rapist back in therapist.

Top marks!

JustStopOilyPoshKids · 08/03/2023 10:13

"Consensually unconscious" Sheeshh the mental gymnastics to justify the unjustifiable.

I spent years going down the rabbit hole of kink/ fetish some years back. It intrigued me how all manner of dubious shit that would elsewhere be regarded as abuse could be handwaved through with the magic bullet of "consent"

Even though the vast majority of women in the "community" were traumatised/ damaged.
I wondered if it was possible for a woman to carve her own niche within that. All the empowerment guff. Pffffffff!

Saschka · 08/03/2023 10:13

There’s also the small matter of safe sedation. If you are sedated to the point of unconsciousness there is a high chance of stopping breathing or obstructing your airway, which is why we have anaesthetists present when you have an anaesthetic, and a second person present to monitor the airway for conscious sedation procedures.

But no, let’s just drug prostitutes with no safeguards whatsoever, and if they die during sex, well they consented and it’s just some slut so who cares?

HashtagShitShop · 08/03/2023 10:12

So she "agrees to be drugged." and gives her consent after agreeing to ABC. Then she wakes up and has injuries from him having rough a and c with her but "she did agree to it!"

Or she wakes up and comes to realise instead of ABC he did XYZ. But has no 'proof' despite being able to feel the after effects of what happened. And when telling authorities he says ".... She did agree though..."

It she wakes up and finds there's a different man with her or more than the one she agreed to? "she did agree....."

Or doesn't wake up at all? Either from he body reacting to the drugs or what the man did during the time she's awake? "she did agree to be drugged though...."

What a time to be alive with people like this "therapist" thinking that it's even remotely an idea!

Ourladycheesusedatum · 08/03/2023 10:11

EmmaEmerald · 08/03/2023 10:03

Looking at their website, pronouns are listed as they/he

Ah, well that might explain it.

rabbitwoman · 08/03/2023 10:08

But surely the main element of this sexual behaviour is that it is non consenting.

Bill Cosby could have had consenting sex with a host of women - he was rich, well connected, he could even have had sex with his wife, I guess.....

But he didn't want permission. He wanted to be able to take away something from these women, against their will, against their knowledge.

I am amazed that these 'sex positive' people have no conception that some sexual tastes can only be satisfied by violating other people.

AlisonDonut · 08/03/2023 10:07

So not one person in the chain of 'research - prescreening - interview - film - direct - retake - edit - review - publish' thought 'hang on a minute...what are we saying here'?

EsmaCannonball · 08/03/2023 10:06

So this person thinks -

  • Drugging some unsuspecting and non-consenting woman isn't the entire point for the kind of men who get off on this.
  • Someone who is drugged and unconscious can consent to whatever happens to them.
  • That a prostituted woman who is drugged and unconscious won't be even more at risk from sexually-motivated murderers and violent men.
  • That nasty, prudish sex negativity is responsible for rape.
  • That it's ok for some women (let's face it, rich) to offer up other women (let's face it, poor) as sacrifices to appease male sex offenders.

I don't care if she identifies as non-binary; it will not stop me thinking that women like this are the lowest of the low.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 08/03/2023 10:04

Queer theory innit? Break down what ever boundaries are there & accept any and all kinks, no matter how harmful or debasing.

Shame she was given any air time but given the BBC's record, not surprised.

EmmaEmerald · 08/03/2023 10:03

Ourladycheesusedatum · 08/03/2023 09:54

Nope, pretty sure we cant consent to this. No one can surely. Once you're unconscious then any consent you gave is null and void.

And can you imagine making them stick to whatever you "consented" to.
That would require an onlooker or camera running, neither of which should happen.

Jesus and an actual woman said this? My God she needs some serious help.

Looking at their website, pronouns are listed as they/he

What the actual fuuuuuuuuuck?

Once again, I find that I'm delighted to not be on The Right Side of Sex-Posi Pro-Sex-'Work' Kink-Posi Progressive Inclusive Acceptance-Without-Exception History.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 08/03/2023 09:59

I’m not a therapist, let alone a “sex positive” one, but even I can guess that an unconscious man can’t maintain an erection.

Oh wait she just wants women to be drugging themselves unconscious to be used and abused and violated. Right, yeah.
What a time to be alive.
