"Rishi Sunak is considering launching an urgent review of “age-inappropriate” sex education materialss_ in schools, The Telegraph understands.
The Prime Minister has told multiple colleagues that he is alarmed about the content of Relationship and Sex Educationn_ (RSE) lessons taught in classrooms across the country.
This week, he was presented with a dossier of evidence by MPs showing that “unsuitably sexually explicit” teaching resources and lessons presenting gender fluidity as fact have been prepared for children.
The evidence, collated by the New Social Covenant Unit think tank, includes case studies of primary school children as young as nine being taught about masturbation. In other instances, the think tank found school children had been “indoctrinated” with contested gender ideology theories that could make them question whether they have been born in the wrong body.
Miriam Cates, the Conservative MP for Pennistone and Stockbridge, delivered the 130-page report to the Prime Minister on Wednesday and has urged him to consider a “public inquiry”.
“It’s becoming more and more clear how inappropriate materials are,” she told The Telegraph. “This is a very widespread problem.”
She said that the teaching of trans identification in schools has become increasingly common and could be contributing to a rise in the number of children seeking medical intervention, including puberty blockers and hormone treatment.
The report argues that a moratorium on aspects of RSE teaching may be necessary to “halt a widespread culture of safeguarding failure”. It raises concerns about the influence of third-party providers on RSE in schools."

Miriam Cates in the Telegraph today. She makes an excellent point to do with what would happen if adults were subjected to children's sex education lessons at work. When I have spoken to my MP in the past about this, I said I was worried about setting it out because of the graphic nature of it. In fact, some of it is so inappropriate that it would not be suitable for description before the watershed.

Nice little trap these ideologists have got us into, isn't it?

"Imagine you attend a training course at work. Your manager stands up and begins a PowerPoint presentation. He proceeds to show you and your colleagues a series of explicit images and graphic descriptions of sex acts that you might like to try. You are then asked to tell the group what you feel about masturbation.

Most adults would find this horrifying. If compelled to take part in this “training”, you may be able to sue your employer for sexual harassment. Yet this is a situation experienced by children in British schools in <a class="break-all" href="https://archive.is/o/1zvKa/www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/2023/03/08/going-wrong-sex-education/" rel="nofollow" target="blank">Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) lessonss. And while some adults might be brave enough to object, children can’t walk out of the classroom or take their school to a tribunal for exposing them to distressing content."

This makes me think of when John Swinney was asked about some of the content being taught to kids in Scottish schools. The facilitator warned him that it was being streamed live to which he replied that if they felt it was too explicit to be streamed then why the hell was it being taught to our kids!!

The secondary pack linked to a list of book recommendations provided by Diversity Role Models, including a book called ‘Beyond Magenta: Transgender Teens Speak Out’, which contained a first person account of performing oral sex at age six, with no suggestion that there was anything wrong with this.

And that teen was not born trans. That teen tried to identify out of being a child sexual abuse target.

The education unions will completely oppose this. They're all complicit, in the pockets of Stonewall and numerous other groups unsuitable to influence children. They've abandoned safeguarding in favour of queer theory activism and will now be petrified of facing the consequences.

HOWEVER, what this will do is (hopefully) is initiate an instantaneous school based review of their SRE curriculum. I suspect we'll find that some of the dodgy materials and individuals will suddenly be dumped rather than face formal scrutiny. There'll be "nothing to see here mate"

We have seen no evidence to suggest there is a widespread problem with pupils being presented with age-inappropriate materials and if this were the situation, we would expect it to have been picked up on a case-by-case basis.

As to no evidence, there is this petition which would be intended to encompass
age inappropriate materials too, not just things people of certain religions do not agree with. Over 200,000 signatures and it doesn’t end till July. After the first 10,000 the Government has to notice it.

There was also the Petition against teaching gender identity in schools. That reached 10,000.

Then there is the evidence collected by organisations like the Safe Schools Alliance.

A poster suggested an equivalent site to ‘Everyone is Invited’ which seems a good idea.

When I was young the teachers that were paedos were under the radar until it became “known” and everything was hushed up and they moved on to different schools. For my children the government has been writing abuse into the curriculum and doesn’t even need hiding. Welsh Government needs to stop with the grooming as well!!!!

Erm, what?

Sex education review launched by Sunak

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/fb68df7c-bdc4-11ed-8959-aac6a1130ac2?shareToken=492b784275b819814df9911773b44ed0

"Head teachers said they were unhappy about the review. James Bowen, director of policy the National Association of Head Teachers, said: “It is hard to be anything other than deeply concerned by this announcement.

“The overwhelming majority of schools are doing nothing more than following the government’s own statutory guidance when it comes to relationships and sex education. The current curriculum was subject to extensive consultation before it was introduced.

“We have seen no evidence to suggest there is a widespread problem with pupils being presented with age-inappropriate materials and if this were the situation, we would expect it to have been picked up on a case-by-case basis.

“There is a real concern that this is a politically motivated review, rather than one based on the reality of what is happening in the vast majority of schools up and down the country. Our appeal to government is to ensure this review is now handled with the care, sensitivity and impartiality it requires and to listen carefully to the voices of education professionals and pupils.”"

Oh, THAT National Association of Head Teachers. Got it:

MC has worked SOOOO hard on this!

As always, exceptionally clear and thorough.

This part gets to the nub of it so succinctly:

If children are taught to expect open dialogue with adults on this and other ‘sex positive’ topics, how can they be expected to identify when adults are addressing
them about this subject for the wrong reasons?

Similarly, safeguarding practice has previously relied upon observing when children express overtly sexualised dialogue as a potential sign of abuse, but this normalisation of such dialogue removes this
early warning.

Likewise, no thought seems to have been given to how upsetting it might be for a child who has suffered abuse to be confronted with these topics.

It is also worth considering whether the authority of an adult teacher should ever be applied to instructing children to declare what they know about masturbation or sex acts, since children might not think they are in a position to decline their teachers’ classroom instructions.

Likewise, thought should be given to the argument that to discuss the matter is exposing in a way that compromises a child’s dignity and lays them open to ridicule or bullying by other children when the teacher is not present to mediate.

This is great news, well done Miriam Cates and all the parents, teachers, women's groups, everyone who has pushed for this.

If the PM does this properly (and quickly) it will be a very popular move.

Miriam Cates today in the Commons at 12:24 asked about whether there'd be an independent inquiry.

Sunak said he shared her concerns and thanked her for her work, said they're bringing forward a review of RSHE statutory guidance and will start a consultation as soon as possible.

@creekingmillenial , any hard evidence for the Women's Rights Network campaign to get this stuff out of schools would be great. We would be contacting MPs & Councils, not your school! We know that it's being taught in schools, but we can't prove this, unless concerned mums come to us with evidence.

I can provide emails from my DD's school and No Outsiders, about the use of gender, rather than sex, on poster ostensibly showing the 9 protected characteristics. If that is any use?

Yes, Everyone’s Invited was about sexual harassment in schools and at parties where the school children were. There was a lot of rape and assault too. It was started by someone at a private school, but a wider and wider group joined. I can’t remember if university students were included by the end too.

Does anyone have the tech skills to make an website where inappropriate teaching/curriculum can be reported anonymously? Unfortunately really dangerous stuff is widespread in primary schools and well as secondary

Like “Everyone is Invited”? That is a good idea though I don’t know how.

Is that the one about sexual harassment in schools? I think that’s what I’m thinking of.
