Quite interesting to hear what people think and how incredibly confused they are.

The non binary ones seem to just be defining what it is to be an individual.

Yellowdays · 28/02/2023 20:43

Rubbish. And "the woke" don't exist as a group.

ImInACage · 28/02/2023 20:27

I actually think this brainwashing started in early childhood, buy the toy manufacturers marketing blue/trucks/dinosaurs/adventures for boys and pink/fluffy/princess/sparkly for girls. Even now, most toy shops have such stereotypically boy or girl sections. I don't remember that at all when I was young, or at least not to the same degree, we played with everything. It has given a whole generation the impression that if they don't fit into that exact stereotype, then there must be something wrong with them, which in turn has lead to this level of confusion about the more complex matters. Even today I saw that Asda are selling Minecraft pjs for girls, but the logo and pictures are all pink, instead of green. What is wrong with green? I'd have been screwed if I were a child today, my favourite colour was blue and I loved playing with cars!

I think you didn't need to make the "woke" insult in order to make your point.

Me? I don't think woke is an insult. It's the name the woke wanted to be known by.

There's one inescapable conclusion from these interviews. Someone (teachers, academics, activists?) have done a hell of a job on these kids to brainwash them into their fantasy world.

Their whole education has been directed towards this. Not all gender ideology, but all making them afraid to ask real questions about the narrative on all social justice questions as that is what Nazis and bigots do.

It had started back when I was a student - we had a guest come in to give a talk on Black history month, much of which was bollocks, objective bollocks. I asked politely about it after the guest left, and was basically told to be quiet. That was the early 90s and it's only become worse from there.

aweegc · 28/02/2023 17:41

I'm fed up to the back teeth of young white people whose experience of "other cultures" extends to what they've seen on tiktok, possibly read about on Reddit or maybe watched an extended video about on YouTube, insetting it in these discussions. Oh, hang on, maybe they "volunteered in Africa" for 10 days...

They also like talking about colonialism. I've not finished this video yet to know if it occurs in it.

They throw "other cultures" in to try and add weight to their half-baked argument. There's little better an example of intellectual colonialism than misappropriating "other cultures" (they never mean Scandinavian cultures..and it's almost always in the plural, basically saying "forrinners") as a means to strengthen an exclusively Western concept. And it IS exclusively western because there is no society with 490 genders, that allows people to slip and slide in and out of being male and female, not being male or female, being animal genders etc. Not one. There are aspects of men being recognised as women in some cultures (some South Pacific islands and India for example). But there are socially defined norms, expectations and responsibilities. It's not a fucking free for all.

I'm fed up of this nonsense. They need to get out in the real world and do something objectively useful.

It is interesting to see the assured confidence at the start of the interviews slowly become more shaky as they are confronted with real life examples of where their ideology takes them. Slightly more unnerving was the speed at which women were prepared to throw fellow women under the proverbial bus as a risk worth taking in order to be nice to male rapists.

I find that frightening - even young women can't imagine a world where they put women first. I suppose that's why they're non binary, then they can identify out of it and put it all to the back of their conciousness.

Yellowdays · 28/02/2023 15:51

I'm just grateful there was no social media then and I have been allowed to conveniently forget my stupidity.

Yes, Beastly, I agree. I could say the same about myself about other stupid things thought or my behaviour.

Helleofabore · 28/02/2023 13:59

And all the false misinformation all came out and was repeated.

Helleofabore · 28/02/2023 13:52

And the contortions! The mental contortions are deep and twisted.

They have fully believed that male rapists are so marginalised and so vulnerable. And they cannot give female prisons much thought. They also seem to be about ' prison is not the right answer' anyway.

Strewth.

Helleofabore · 28/02/2023 13:42

Good grief, the denial of material reality in some of these people interviewed is so clear.

VitaminX · 28/02/2023 13:38

beastlyslumber · 28/02/2023 09:26

I think that there are two types of woke people. The ones who are totally brainwashed and busily brainwashing their peers. The other type are the ones who just don't really know, want to be kind, and are terrified of the first type who will report them and get them kicked off their course if they say the wrong thing. This type of woke will probably get past it once they are confronted with reality.

Also, young people are dumb. I remember what an obnoxious idiot I was at that age. I'm just grateful there was no social media then and I have been allowed to conveniently forget my stupidity.

Agree. Some people on here are very scathing about young people who have confused thinking on this issue and it's unnecessary. We all had unrealistic ideas when we were younger or let ourselves be unduly influenced by our peers and what we knew were 'supposed' to think. Perhaps not to this extent but the force of the peer pressure on this particular issue is insane.

Yes, some of them are fully into it. But many of them just don't want to go there. It's not that they are so stupid they think people can change sex, it's that they will not allow themselves to think or speak freely. The self-censorship is painful to watch but it's not exactly intelligence that is the issue and they can probably think critically about other topics. You can tell some of them are just fully parroting the party line (down to regurgitating specific arguments they've taken from internet memes, e.g. the red hair thing) and not expressing any of their own thoughts. They put up a mental fence around this issue with 'Warning. Dangerous' tape all around it and maybe in private they give themselves permission to think about it, but some won't even do that. None of them clearly understand gender ideology because it doesn't make any sense and that is very much a feature, not a bug.

I've been there, which is something I've admitted on here before under other names, but the response is always mostly scoffing at how anybody could ever be so thick and it's very hard to explain once you have snapped out of it.

BemusedDad · 28/02/2023 13:33

They finish their degrees with a load of debt, yet come out of uni with less brains then they went in with.
And unemployable as well.

FetchezLaVache · 28/02/2023 13:19

I felt like a lot of them spoke as if they started off trying to use their own words to answer the questions, faltered as cognitive dissonance hit, then remembered the soundbites they're supposed to believe in and gratefully resorted to them.

VitaminX · 28/02/2023 13:14

Some of them know, but they can barely bring themselves to voice their heretical thoughts. And to be fair to them, how do you think their social lives at uni would go if they were labelled as terfs? I can't really blame them for just wanting to keep their heads down and enjoy life at that stage and in that environment. I feel sorry for them.

Also a lot of young women take time to come to feminism. Many of them are still very male identified - notice how all of them talked about the male prisoner's safety and well-being but the last woman was the only one to explicitly give a thought to how she would feel as a female prisoner in that situation, to put herself in their shoes. Of all the interviewees, the last one will definitely be fine, she is just young.

EndlessTea · 28/02/2023 12:22

WomaninBoots · 27/02/2023 21:05

I'm not sure I can watch that. I might cringe myself into some kind of knot of limbs I can't untangle. It sounds incredibly embarrassing for them.

🤣 That is a beautifully articulated description of how I feel about it.

Sazzasez · 28/02/2023 10:21

A few weeks ago I met a young woman studying journalism who had recently realised her fellow students did not know that prisons are meant to be single sex.

hryllilegur · 28/02/2023 10:11

I actually think that the idea that prisoners are some kind of criminal underclass and, therefore, not ‘real people like us’ underpins a lot of this stuff. Ironically, given how they frame it as caring about the vulnerable and hating ‘othering’.

The people saying TWAW simply don’t really see female prisons are real, vulnerable people. Nor do they see them as relevant to them - they’d never be a prisoner, would they?

Prisoners aren’t the sort of sympathetic ‘others’ undergraduate students can easily build a saviour/champion/ally image around. Honestly, I do think that trans ally has come to fill the void left now that being a white saviour to poor majority world children is maligned rather than lauded.

To be fair though, @ScrollingLeaves, everyone has been strongly encouraged to see the typical tw prisoner as a harmless individual, almost certainly gay, who passes as a woman and is guilty of fraud or tax dodging.

Adam Graham and Co are causing scales to clatter from people's eyes. Not a moment too soon.

ScrollingLeaves · 28/02/2023 09:21

Posted too soon. That was to
Toseland · Today 08:48 who wrote the first paragraph I forgot to put in bold.

ScrollingLeaves · 28/02/2023 09:19

The most positive take from this is that thankfully these people are innocent, trying to do the right thing and have no understanding of the darkside of gender ideology

It is sad though that the ‘dark side’, the 1984 side, has successfully quelled any questioning in their minds.

Toseland · 28/02/2023 08:48

I watched this - though I'm a bit wary of who the makers of this are? The inteviewees (except the last woman) have no consideration for women and women in prison at all and have to be prompted to think about them. All are confused and worried about poor transpeople. The most positive take from this is that thankfully these people are innocent, trying to do the right thing and have no understanding of the darkside of gender ideology.
