Appropriately enough, today is International Tongue Twister Contest Day (apologies if you both knew that): www.checkiday.com/3b18bce505b32e00b3c61261048941ee/international-tongue-twister-contest-day

😍

I do now!!! Allliteration allllllllllllll afternoon long!!!

sqirrelfriends · 23/02/2023 16:48

I’m gender critical but I don’t understand why a company wouldn’t want to make profit from a product for trans men who have periods.

It doesn’t impact anyone or take anyone’s rights away so I don’t see the issue really. I don’t personally want to live as a man but if someone does then what business is that of mine?

Also as a feminist, I believe all females should have access to their preferred period product. So what if it looks like pants.

@ArabellaScott
Thanks for the new tongue twisters. I'm going to be saying:

Pugly period pants with a plastic pecker pocket

and

My plastic pecker pocket can be used for petty pilfering

all day now 😂

Yep. I just don't get all the hate. It baffles me.

Please quote the posts you believe are hateful. Disagreement is not hate.

CandlelightGlow · 23/02/2023 16:39

I like them, good for them! The model looks great and it's nice to see a trans man modelling period pants as plenty of trans men do still get periods 😇

I don't like using moon cups but I do want more sustainable period products so I reckon I'll buy some, thanks for linking.

What's the problem?! Why shouldn't someone who was born a woman and menstruates, but identifies as male and wants to live as that gender, be able to buy a product that accomodates that? Live and let live, it's not causing you any problem, it's just making life a bit more managable and enjoyable for others...

Gender is an oppressive social construct which tries to shoehorn people into particular roles according to our sex. It should be obvious why feminists have a problem with someone trying to 'live as a gender'.

risefromyourgrave · 23/02/2023 16:34

I love that the model is striking a muscle pose, just so we know that they’re a masculine person.

nepeta · 23/02/2023 16:33

Erasing/redefining all words which have been referring to people of the female sex does have an impact on our lives, and this is one example of the trend.

So glad you wrote this. I don’t understand the outrage either.

It's like a school playground where all the bullies gather round and laugh and point at people who don't fit in.

People who don't fit in? Like men wearing period pants?

Gender affirming in women’s clothing sizes.

Curiouspotatoze · 23/02/2023 16:22

astounded at the energy people seem to have to complain about a product that isn’t marketed for them and literally has 0 impact on their life. Sigh.

Yeah, but I always wonder if transmen try the Mirena Coil. I appreciate it doesn't suit everyone, but speaking as someone who's not had a period for 17 odd years due to a succession of them, suits me down to the ground.
No period would surely help with dysphoria. No banging on with nonsense like period pants for men. Or trying to change language for every female!
Just imagine.

Naunet · 23/02/2023 16:17

I love that they are still listed in women’s sizes - how “triggering” 🤣

nepeta · 23/02/2023 16:09

The WPATH stated in one of their earlier reports that taking testosterone means several changes and in those changes they included cessation of the menses. But it doesn't seem to happen to all who take testosterone, though earlier I read a medical article which states that menstruation ceases for more than half of testosterone-taking transitioners from the start. Those who have their uteri removed of course also stop menstruating.

The actual market size is therefore incredibly small in numbers. But there are female individuals who transition only socially, so they probably all menstruate and so do nonbinary identifying female people.

What I dislike about this is that it means 'woman' has been appropriated and no longer is based on being biologically female and adult (because the transmen and female enbies are female but refuse to be called women so none of us can be called women because we are women).

Nobody tells us what 'woman' now means, but attempts to find out answers to that question strongly suggest that it is comfort with sexist stereotypes about femininity or with retrogressive sex roles for women. This is terrible for women's rights.

Cheeky wipes. They do good period pants and reusables.

Cheeky Wipes are just as bad from the "menstruators" and "bleeders" point of view, sadly.

I just get an annoying pop up that won't go away and then I am forced to redirect because of my IP.

There's a small market and they're catering for it. And people who like the fact that they're inclusive and catering for that market will buy from them to support them. Yes it 'normalises' periods for the young females who don't believe themselves to be women. No I don't understand the levels of cognitive dissonance required to put on period pants, bleed and yet worry about where to put my packer so that I can create the illusion of having male genitalia. It must be hellish. But the model obviously seems happy with their lot, so there you go.

I don't think there's a lot to be gained by criticising a company for cashing in. That's business for you. Just don't buy from them if you feel strongly about it. Meanwhile let's fight for proper support services and education in our schools to help young women feel good about themselves and their bodies. That's the battleground to concentrate on.

HairyPooter · 23/02/2023 15:54

Child sized "packers". Packers is another obfuscation. Pretend penis for young girls. That is all kinds of wrong. I despair, I really do.

HairyPooter · 23/02/2023 15:40

Are they really selling it in kids sizes? With packer? If so, then that I have a problem with.

(I am not clicking on the link).

No, I mean that there are child-sized packers. 4thwavenow.com/2015/09/26/san-francisco-company-selling-packers-for-trans-boys-ages-4-and-up/
