There is something seriously wrong with you. How old are you people? How is this funny?

Pathetic and vile.

Nobody thinks it's funny. Possibly the emoji has come up as a funny one on the app, as I've seen that happen, but on my screen (laptop) it's clearly showing as shock/sadness.

To Candlelightglow, sorry if offended you but just so confused by it all now.

And who exactly is being transphobic @CandlelightGlow ? Some of us are planning on ordering some, whilst others are saying they are fugly. Much like by thread in style and beauty. What people are angry about is the marketing of fake penises to children as young as 4. Do you think it is appropriate @CandlelightGlow ?

Sure mate that's exactly what the person posting this thread to take the piss out of a trans man wearing period pants was doing.

Cry me a river over any of you being called transphobic. Goodness me.

We're making fun of pants. Not people.

Peter Piper picked a packer and popped it in his period pants. A packer of puny penile proportions Peter Piper picked.

If Peter Piper picked a packer of puny penile proportions, where’s the packer of preposterous penile proportions that Peter Piper previously picked?

👌

Love the pic.
but why would a non-binary person need a pecker packer?
genuine question.
it makes no sense to me.

Appropriately enough, today is International Tongue Twister Contest Day (apologies if you both knew that): www.checkiday.com/3b18bce505b32e00b3c61261048941ee/international-tongue-twister-contest-day

No I hadn't a clue (toyed with the idea of saying nonchalantly, of course I knew - but I couldn't).

In answer to your question, I’m over seventy. That means I can remember when there were no synthetic hormones to enable people to interfere with their natural systems, and often incur lifelong physical health problems as a result. I can also remember when the concept of cutting off perfectly healthy and functioning body parts would have been regarded as outrageous and probably criminal. I suppose my age group are a lot nearer the memory of Mengele (my godfather was in one of the liberating brigades which was first into one of the experimental camps ).

As for the illustration, why should you think it is any sort of ‘funny’? The pp asked what a packer is. I showed them, since a picture is worth a thousand words. I personally don’t think it is funny at all. My heart bleeds for these poor girls.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 23/02/2023 17:35

ffs that is just ridiculous. As you have said seen it all now. What is happening in this world that men trying to take over our spaces and now our bodies. Men do not get periods even if they are trans.

A trans man is what you would call a woman so why are you seething about men.

Do you think 4 year olds should wear fake penises @CandlelightGlow ? Do you feel that is an appropriate product to manufacture and sell? Why?

That advert is for fake penises for girls. It's clear from the photo that they are not for adults and the advert refers to 'boys' not men.

You might not have a problem with companies flogging plastic penises to children. I absolutely do.

sqirrelfriends · 23/02/2023 17:30

It’s threads like this that make people think mumsnet is transphobic.

No one’s rights are being infringed on, no one has been been called a degrading name. It’s like the issue is with people being trans.

No, it's a mixture of incredulity and weary despair that a company which provides products for the female experience of menstruating is buying into an ideology which teaches girls, often vulnerable girls, that there is something wrong with their healthy female body. These pants may be fairly trivial but puberty blockers, cross sex hormones and surgery are not. Promoting these pants is normalizing this ideology.

Happylittlechicken · 23/02/2023 17:18

CandlelightGlow · 23/02/2023 16:39

I like them, good for them! The model looks great and it's nice to see a trans man modelling period pants as plenty of trans men do still get periods 😇

I don't like using moon cups but I do want more sustainable period products so I reckon I'll buy some, thanks for linking.

I’m buying some just for the pouch, warmth and no vpl. Dunno about gender affirming but they’re very useful. That way they can broaden their customer base. They’ve missed a fab chance there. So glad they do them in womens dress sizes though…..

Deadringer · 23/02/2023 17:12

I am as gender critical as they come and I don't have a problem with this. Trans boys/men presumably sometimes have to deal with periods and if this product helps well and good. (Fugly as it is) As long as the promotion of this product (that benefits only a tiny number of people) doesn't take precedence over products for the rest of the female population I don't really care. Pick your battles and all that.

It's also National Chocolate Covered Peanuts day.

www.checkiday.com/174ff33a2214f0f36d447c84760fcf24/national-chocolate-covered-peanuts-day

I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere about peanuts/periods/chocolate/pants.

Put paid to period pain and pack a piece of peanut brittle in your plastic pecker pants' pocket?

I'll get my coat.
