I live in Rosie Duffields constituency. Just had local election door knock from labour party

He asked what my main concerns were. I said my main issue was that i stood with Rosie and felt that Labour, as a party, from the top down, did not offer her enough support. And my main concern was womens safe spaces.

Man said, well, this is local elections and not about that, and that issue is more complicated than you think. What are your concerns, locally?

I said the local council is involved in issues to do with womens safe spaces. Like the womens refuges, the womans changing room at the local pool, etc. All spaces where biological men should not have access and that womens safe spaces was my main concern.

There followed a debate. And his stance is that its not that simple, i am being brainwashed by the right wing media, and that Rosie is in fact, (drumroll please...), mainly being supported by American right wing anti abortion groups.

Arrrrrghhhhhh. So that is where my local labour door knockers are at. Saying Rosies main core of support is American right wing anti abortion groups and i am being fooled by them. Silly, foolish, female me.

@PopGoesTheProsecco i can’t recall which one it was. Was it the one where I said she’s been criticised by radical feminists who exclude the transgender community?

Whatever it was, it was addressed to me because when I clicked on the notification it took me to the deleted post message.

@ijclark Maybe rephrase your comment so that it doesn't breach the talk guidelines...?

Did I miss something?

The same thing I missed I guess

Well done, that's impressive.

@Ereshkigalangcleg I think “insinuating she’s lying” is a bit of a stretch. I noticed some people were pointing out that maybe Labour told her to stay away and were suggesting Labour leadership have it in for her. I personally wouldn’t consider it lying if she’s protecting herself, but you do you I guess!

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 10/03/2023 11:34

ijclark does seem to have an obsession with Rosie Duffield. Who disputes whether someone has a migraine, ffs?

Bizarre

MrsOvertonsWindow · 10/03/2023 11:28

I think we should thank ijclark for his obsessing bumping of this thread as it's a useful reminder to us all of the self sabotaging behaviour of so many labour canvassers. And some very useful responses detailed for when they come knocking on our doors.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/03/2023 11:21

Assuming she can't have one because you're such an expert on her and know she's never mentioned it before. Sure.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/03/2023 11:20

Reading a tweet and insinuating that she's lying about having a migraine.

ijclark · 10/03/2023 11:06

@Ereshkigalangcleg im not sure reading a tweet by the MP is the same as “watching their every move”.

If I were concerned about that, I’d spend more of my time wondering why a load of gender critical “feminists” have been bombarding her with messages because she criticised KJK or the people pondering whether her migraine was in actuality the Labour Party leadership instructing her to keep away from HoC that day. That would seem to me, if you’re a feminist, to be more of a concern than a constituent who reads their MPs tweets.

ijclark · 10/03/2023 11:04

@drwitch he was also repeatedly trolled over the fact he caused someone’s death. It was a constant refrain during his time as MP. Arguably he got far worse than Rosie gets.

ijclark · 10/03/2023 11:02

@drwitch Quite a lot! I wrote to him fairly frequently, sent letters to the local press about him and reported him to the ICO.

drwitch · 10/03/2023 07:49

@Sazzasez, the previous mp was very right wing, anti abortion and useless as a constituency mp. But my guess he did not get half the trolling and abuse from the left as Rosie does.

drwitch · 10/03/2023 07:33

Would be interesting to see how much abuse the previous mp for our constituency got from this quarter

Couldn’t find that. But did find this:

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/03/2023 07:24

I don't like my MP either, but I don't keep track of his every move. Weird.

drwitch · 10/03/2023 07:07

@iijclark she had a migraine. Do you think she deliberately snubbed the session?

BettyFilous · 10/03/2023 06:53

I dipped back in to check on latest developments and see ijclark is still grinding their axe on this thread. Astonishing.

ijclark · 10/03/2023 06:34

I understand some people aren’t interested in what their MP does in parliament, i totally get that. For some people it’s all a show and the real politically activity is conducted by “shadowy forces” that no-one knows. I totally respect that that is your perspective, it’s understandable to take that position.

For me, however, I think it’s important to know what your MP is doing to inform future voting and to hold them to account. My MP didn’t turn up for the usual international women’s day speeches. I think that’s notable given she claims to be a feminist. It’s also notable that she didn’t attend despite giving interviews beforehand saying she was going to give a powerful speech on the topic. Even more notable that she didn’t turn up when her colleague read the names of murdered women this last year and included Brianna Ghey, for which her colleague was attacked all day long. A colleague that she supposedly respects given she supported her campaign for the leadership.

Again, I completely get some people aren’t interested in what their MP gets up to. I’m somewhat curious that mine, who professes to be a feminist, wasn’t their to stand with her sisters. Anyway, enjoy your day. I can’t keep answering people’s obsessive hot takes :)

JanesLittleGirl · 09/03/2023 22:58

Is somebody with an apparent surname that suggests that their forefathers were clerks stalking a MP?

SinnerBoy · 09/03/2023 18:09

Oh, I didn't realise that she was obliged to give out detailed health reports, on demand.

I mean, just because you've never mentioned your septic piles, it doesn't mean that we disbelieve that you have them.

ijclark · 09/03/2023 18:06

Shelefttheweb · 09/03/2023 17:12

Why should she have mentioned migraines?

I dunno, maybe you could ask her?
