Fisherthem makes no actual sense though. Possibly fisherperson. Nut a gender neutral name already exists - Angler.

Yes, my immediate thought was that SS was talking about being an angler rather than a fisherman. What does Smith mean by "ending my days" anyway? It's just another inane comment. Though at least it would mean that Sam would have to remain silent and very, very still.

Fisher is a long established alternative gender inclusive term for fisherman. No need to invent a new word. It’s not fisherhe, so SS’s made up word makes no sense
