I think you are conflating two different things.
1 A dislike towards a minority group.
2 A dislike of the woke activist mentality who in their promotion of minority groups identities ignore any negative behaviour by individuals within that group.

Example : I don't care any more or less about non binary people ( the group ). I hope they live their best lives and get treated with respect.
I think Sam Brinton ( the individual ) is an absolute dickhead. He's the one who made a huge deal of his non binary status in a very narcissistic way. He's clearly decided that his specialness far outweighs the rights of women to retain their own intimate possessions. Women just exist for Sam to take their stuff. It's bad enough to lose possessions to theft e.g. a laptop or money. Can you imagine how it must feel to find out some pervert stole your underwear and is using it for sexual gratification. That must be deeply unpleasant for his victims. What about a woman who now loses her luggage because the airline lost it, but is worried another Sam Brinton of this world is dressing up in it and getting his rocks off. What if a woman sees one of Sam Brinton's "fabulous" non binary fetish poses that he seems quite proud to be putting out there and recognises her stolen underwear or high heels being used in the photo? Sam Brinton is a sad tawdry thief with a fetish that compells him to repeatedly steal women's clothes for sexual self gratification, and in the eyes of the woke brigade can do no wrong because of his elevated status resulting from his declaration "I'm non binary. Worship me!".

Then it's double standards to report about what is happening to women in Afghanistan. Either they report about sex, in which case this is a man, or they report about identity.

It is standard journalese to report age and sex of the accused; "a 58 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson". I think there are legal restrictions on when the name or any other information can be published.

This issue with Brinton as that Brinton insists Brinton is non-binary. Therefore the reporting can't say "man", and correctly uses Brinton's own preferred terminology.

males, the fact that Brinton is a man who stole used clothes from at least two women is relevant. That Brinton claims not to be a man is also relevant, if only to point out that his maleness is relevant to his behaviour.

Perhaps lets just hear what the defence is. If Sam cites their gender identity as a factor in him repeatedly stealing womens clothing, then i would say the headline is bang on.

Not aware of any cases of theft where sexuality has been submitted to the court as a mitigating factor.

The sex of the offender is often mentioned in headlines, as in the Scottish Sun's recent gem "Transgender woman 'raped two women with HER penis'.

And 'non-binary' is not a sexual orientation, unlike 'lesbian' - it is a label based on the binary nature of sex.

More often it was sex, age and crime, sometimes occupation mentioned in the headline.

The difference is that identifying/acknowledging a woman is a lesbian has absolutely no impact on which prison that woman would be placed in.

A heterosexual woman would automatically be placed in a female prison.
A lesbian woman would automatically be placed in a female prison.
Their sexuality has absolutely no relevance to the determination of which single sex prison they would be assigned to.

Yes bicycles. Sex is unchanging, Brinton’s gender could change. They could be fluid in their gender identity and so a descriptor that is fact based would make more sense.

Because now they have used that headline, if Brinton did change gender in a few years and committed another theft, they would have to use ‘former non-binary’.
