A slightly sharper exit than Denholm Reynholm.

Is the return of an unflushable turd a cause for celebration now?

I despair of politics. Was the quality of politicians always this dire and it’s only now that I’m old enough to properly appreciate the problem?

Not at all - I’m trying to work out who will get the job. Wondered whether he would have another go. At least the Gender Recognition Act will almost certainly go now. No one is going to want to be linked with that

Edam1 · 15/02/2023 12:41

About time! Woman's a disgrace. Let's hope the other SNP misogynists have realised rapists in women's prisons is a vote loser

It’ll be interesting to see if Nic/the SNP try and play up the gender row to distract from a criminal investigation into financial irregularities…

I’m hoping the gender recognition bill will be the sacrificial lamb to try and distract from dubious financial management.

While I agree, it seems to me they've lost either way
Apart from the screaming activists few seem to support their manic gender agenda, and hopefully even fewer would support anyone found to have committed fraud - though with politicians being what they are I doubt many would be surprised

As for "Who'll take over?", who can say? The recent poll reveals only single figure support for any of them, with a huge majority "Don't knows"
Hardly a great position for any political party, so it'll certainly be interesting to watch

ArabellaScott · 15/02/2023 12:36

100%

So would or could Alex Salmond make a return? Who is likely to be her replacement?

I'm afraid the gender stuff is probably not the main problem.

As shown by Sturgeon's swift cutting-off of the question about the police investigation.

It'll be money.

It’ll be money. Of course it will.

A crap record on women’s rights is not a resignation level issue for politicians. That’s just women’s rights.

A financial scandal, OTOH…

It’s quite depressing really.

Oh I really really hope so. Politicians need to start to listen to the majority of the electorate rather than pressure groups.

Drakefords a bit luckier than the other two in that there are no women's prisons in Wales, so he has a bit more room for luxury beliefs without that banana skin.

sashagabadon · 15/02/2023 11:53

Gender ideology really is a hill that politicians go and die on. Wonder if kier and mark drakeford are watching carefully.

Hubris and loss of touch with reality.

'That conference lasted nearly 50 minutes, but these 16 seconds are the only ones that mattered.'

I think it's much more likely they're hoping the fuss will die down, the media and public will move on to other things and forget about it and they can quietly get their way.

Agree.

littlbrowndog · 15/02/2023 12:04

She was asked I think if she would be interviewed by the police on the financial stuff

scratchedbymycat · 15/02/2023 12:03

I think The Individual needs to be updated to 'The individuals' to be inclusive of the four murderers revealed today to be in the female estate too. It's only fair. Inclusion is important.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/02/2023 12:03

*loss not list

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 15/02/2023 12:03

I think she was pushed by the party. The subtext felt to me that she wanted to turn the next GE into a de facto independence vote but the party doesn’t agree. It’s too risky. If independence isn’t popular the party loses out. If the party isn’t popular (for a multitude of reasons) then any list of the share of the vote can be argued as a sign independence isn’t popular.

Pixiedust1234 · 15/02/2023 12:02

I'm surprised the Teflon Queen has decided to let go without being pushed. It won't be about the trans issue that made her quit, it will be about money. Or more importantly a certain money trail that she doesn't want uncovering. Its always fucking money.
