Liverpool - woman who distributed indecent images of children over WhatsApp has walked free from court.

"...officers seized a Samsung mobile phone on which they discovered 84 indecent images in category A - those graded as showing the most serious forms of abuse.

These included pictures and videos showing children aged as young as four being raped. Also found were 30 category B images and 35 in category C, which had been collected since October"

Except of course, the offender, Ketan Shende, is not a woman.

I have been following this and discussing on other threads. It is only today, a day after originally publishing, that the Echo amended a quote from the judge, tucked away at the bottom, to mention transition AT ALL.

So it must have been an editorial decision to deliberately ignore reality the elephant in the room here. What for?

I also wonder if that is how they avoided a custodial sentence, nobody wanting to address the issue of where they would be sent.

Newspapers (well, most of them) are getting very good at circumventing the compelled language by including pictures that show the truth.

I wonder if the judge let 'her' off so there wasn't the pantomime over what sex prison 'she'd be sent to?

Judge comment:
“The court is right to be sceptical, but in my judgement it makes little or no difference to the sentencing exercise. You have seen fit to distribute such images for yours or the males' sexual gratification.”

Shende pled guilty according to the link:
”Shende admitted four counts of distributing indecent images of children, one of possession of indecent images and four of making indecent images. She was handed a two-year imprisonment suspended for two years.”

Seems like an issue with sentencing guidelines to me.
