Rosie Kay: new dance company

Hello, I found Rosie Kay's new dance company online and thought that people on this forum might like to know.

She is currently holding auditions for new dancers and interestingly asking all of them to take note of a Creative Charter, which specifically references free speech. It seems that new performances of 5 soldiers might be coming up.
Best of luck to Rosie and her new dancers.

Good for her! Very good news.

Employers are going to need more of these kind of charters against behaviours that are often mindlessly destructive and disruptive and which soak up ridiculous amounts of everyone's time, energy and attention.

The purpose of K2CO is to create dance of the highest standards and to tour in partnership with the best theatres.

The company will focus on the importance of sex and gender in society, in history and in the arts currently.

The company will also focus on ideas around freedom of expression and censorship- what the purpose of the arts is to a society and how K2CO can play a part in demonstrating this- through the work created, through conversations, training and through connecting with audiences in person and online.

MISSION STATEMENT

Rosie Kay feels strongly that the arts are under threat and the ability to think with liberty, to speak freely and to make the art you must is at risk, limiting the power of the arts to connect and severely hampering society as a whole. With her new company and advisory board of artistic, business, philosophic and legal expertise, Kay is ready to embark on a new phase of her career, being bolder and braver than ever. Being an artist has always felt like being ‘the outsider’ and now Kay knows that her voice is important to the younger generation, to older dancers and to audiences across the UK.

Love this at the top of the charter

“The invisible made visible is of sacred nature” Peter Brook

“Censorship is the height of vanity.” Martha Graham

“The beginning is always today.” Mary Wollstonecraft
