PM programme on now. Evan Davis says there will be an item where gamers discuss whether to boycott the new Hogwarts Legacy game.

Well I think Stacey might not be impartial here…

I wondered for a second if I'd missed the bit with Stacey as I hadn't heard a female voice... 😂

ANewCreation · 02/02/2023 17:59

So pleased that Evan got Stacey's pronouns in because I would never have guessed from the radio...

StillWeRise · 02/02/2023 17:57

are they not going to actually ask for evidence that JKR is transphobic ????

WinterTrees · 02/02/2023 17:56

Wokebro gamer is feeling sorry for kids being vilified for playing the game.

Waiting for Evan Davies to step in and ask whether it's fair for JKR to be vilified for standing up for women's rights...

WinterTrees · 02/02/2023 17:54

Why is this a story worth covering on Radio 4's flagship evening news programme? Do they cover the niche tribal misconceptions of teenagers in other areas of their lives?

I've never played a computer game in my life. Think I'll buy a few copies of this though.

Evan Davis didn't seem that keen to ensure balance in the pro-rapist and anti-rapist debate last week.

Exactly. He didn't even want to speak about Adam Graham on PM - he had something about men wearing shorts instead. Then he shut down the woman who brought up self-ID as a voter issue.

PriOn1 · 02/02/2023 17:16

Bunch of sanctimonious idiots!

I’m going to buy it and play it and I haven’t played anything for years.

Anti JKR guest will have the last word.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 02/02/2023 17:13

Hopefully there will also be a news story about the case which confirms that it is unacceptable for women to see men"s penises when using communal toilets.

Yes , it will be interesting how they ensure "balance"

My phone shows me news stories due to some algorithm or other and I've clicked on a few about this game - some sites are putting a "yes we know, JK Rowling, please go check out Mermaids" disclaimer type paragraph at the end of each article.

I'm sure the game will do fine regardless.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 02/02/2023 17:10

As it's the BBC and "impartial", will they have on some of the people who don't game, don't even have a console, but are buying it anyway? (A fair few of these on threads here about hogwarts legacy)

I wonder.

TheWitchesAreBackInTown · 02/02/2023 17:08

They can boycott it all they like.

A tiny drop in the ocean full of people who love it. Will hardly make a dent in the sales.

Btw, hope you got your bingo card out.

gamerchick · 02/02/2023 17:07

Can't see it happening to leave much of a dent tbh. Everyone I know who's into that stuff can't wait for the game.

I'll bet the ones who make a show of it, still play it on the sly. Whether it's borrowed or pre-owned as some sort of not putting money into pockets bollocks. But they'll still play it.

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSports · 02/02/2023 17:06

I wonder what percentage the overlap is between gamers and MRAs.
