Radio 4 PM Gamers discuss boycotting JKR

PM programme on now. Evan Davis says there will be an item where gamers discuss whether to boycott the new Hogwarts Legacy game.

Also heard a lot of people are planning to buy the game second-hand because they think that JKR will not benefit from any royalties whilst they still get the benefit of the playing the game.

The "balance" boiled down to: "Given that JKR is a wicked witch, is it still ok to play the game?"

How does she stand it?

I keep thinking about the 'cancellation' because I drive past a primary school pretty much every day. After Christmas, without fail, there kids wearing new Hogwarts scarves.

The people who are 'cancelling' are not the target audience. They aren't the parents, they aren't the kids. And I very much doubt Stacey is going to become a dad any time soon.

I beg to differ. l often yell asshat, when ED is on R4.

If you weren't up on the debate you'd think it was fact that JKR has inappropriate views, as all that can be said on the BBC without being challenged.
Shocking.

This - though I upset DD1 by talking at the radio and point out this is about a woman's work - or tangential work and not someone like Roman Polanski work or some other man who actually done something illegal.

So for balance, we had someone who was not buying or promoting the game because JKR is a big nasty transphobe and doesn't think anyone should buy it as that is giving her more of a platform to spread hate, and someone who was prepared to buy the game even though JKR is a big nasty transphobe.

The host's only comment on those accusations was that JKR wouldn't say she was transphobic.

Did I get that right?

The minute number of saddos boycotting the game are already far outweighed by the people who have pre-ordered, and I bet they HATE that 🤣

I suspect ED was doing a favour for his trans friend who not only got a public platform but was able to advertise their web site.
