To start to sake

To start to skate, obviously.

NecessaryScene · 30/01/2023 06:44

Some woman who can actually skate lost a place to him in the competition, and lost a chance to have her talents showcased in the opening ceremony.

Or indeed multiple - being an opening ceremony, they can do whatever they like. They could have had, say, some sort of senior women's skating club or something.

I've not seen the rest of it, but I gather some of the other numbers were same-sex couples, children with Downs syndrome, etc. This one is notable because he's trying to do a solo. That's part of the delusional narcissism - he wants to be the princess in the spotlight.

Note that the "commentator" is actually a recording of him in an interview talking about his skating fantasy - his childhood dreams.

(I did wonder if he was saying childhood injuries, which would have been an excuse, but no. My Finnish is a bit rusty. (Haava = wound, haave = dream)).

He does kind of acknowledge how rubbish he is. It's something like:

"...thought to make true my childhood dreams. To start to sake in women-mode, although I was born a man. And it was nine years, and nine years contained quite a lot. Starting from nothing, to standing on two feet, to standing on one foot, to starting to dare to do something there on the ice. Then to quietly start to compete, to present in shows. [?] It was quite a nice career, then Covid came as a break and messed up the picture, but to go ahead..."

And the interviewer interjects with "These European competitions' slogan is come as you are..."

I saw this on Twitter the other day and found it bizarre.

“Inclusive” is all very well, but none of the other skaters were incompetent.

I’m not sure that allowing someone to make a complete fool of themselves is a good idea, particularly given the inevitable anger it will instill in the increasing number of people who are becoming frustrated at how many sub-par men are being pushed into situations where it’s obvious the only reason they are there is preferential treatment to the point of absurdity.

Icefisher · 30/01/2023 06:17

Minna-Maaria Lax has caused news in the past by entering in the men’s ice dance series wearing a dress even though that lost points. So, not taking a woman’s place. And it was an unofficial meet.

Tessisme · 30/01/2023 00:58

Sweet Holy Jeez, my EYES🤣🤣

Sazzasez · 30/01/2023 00:56

I think when he was doing the geisha one he was actually competing! (Goodness knows how he scored).

That was a couple of years before the opening ceremony: he’s got worse at it.

Some woman who can actually skate lost a place to him in the competition, and lost a chance to have her talents showcased in the opening ceremony.

Melroses · 30/01/2023 00:29

It is 😂

tobee · 30/01/2023 00:21

It's all about the dress colour change in this performance, isn't it?

Moopsi · 30/01/2023 00:09

Does he identify as a gender neutral Chinese woman?

catandcoffee · 30/01/2023 00:06

Verite1 · 29/01/2023 23:43

Oh come on. It’s obviously a piss take!! No doubt at all.

It's not a piss take honestly.
It really isn't.

TheClitterati · 30/01/2023 00:05

I'm overwhelmed with all the stunning & braveness shown by the Emperor on ice.
😂

EndlessTea · 30/01/2023 00:04

His stiff shoulders really bother me. I feel like I need to stretch my neck and circle my arms after watching that geisha performance.

I get that he must have put some hours in to be able to do some of that and it wouldn’t look so ridiculous if he wasn’t crossdressing at the same time. But the combination of the stiff, manly gait, the pretty crap (for an adult) execution and the crossdressing is so funny.

LivingOnAPrayerYes · 30/01/2023 00:00

Just looked, and it seems to be an opening ceremony pushing inclusion. He's not competing.

Still trying to figure our what a gender- neutral woman is though.... I may be some time!

Datun · 29/01/2023 23:57

Is it a piss take? I mean I know it's quite difficult to tell sometimes, but honestly this is sooo bad, I can't even contemplate that it's real.

Verite1 · 29/01/2023 23:43

Oh come on. It’s obviously a piss take!! No doubt at all.

ZestFest · 29/01/2023 23:42

Stunning and Brave! Brave and Stunning!

or Shit and Ridiculous - depending on whether you're living in the real world or not.

JanieAllen · 29/01/2023 23:05

indulging in cultural appropriation BADLY

These people are always racist. Always. 😡

GCAcademic · 29/01/2023 23:39

Apparently he identifies as a “gender neutral woman”. WTF does that mean? Is it an extra layer of speshulness?

MenopausalMe · 29/01/2023 23:36

JanieAllen · 29/01/2023 23:05

indulging in cultural appropriation BADLY

That was excruciating, [insert pronoun of your choice here] is misogynistic & racist in one very untalented package.

How can anyone watching that live not be cringing themselves inside out in embarrassment

EzzieM · 29/01/2023 23:26

He identifies as a world champion skater and therefore we must give him all the medals.

Reality is irrelevant.

DinaofCloud9 · 29/01/2023 23:25

Embarrassing bellend. Dear me.

EpicChaos · 29/01/2023 23:21

No doubt he has taken the place of a female that can actually skate and has the abilty to move in time with the music?!
It's beyond ridiculous, that those people are being encouraged/feted!
And he got points too?! Don't tell me he was so stunning and brave that he won?!

MaureenSowerbuttsCardi · 29/01/2023 23:17

So they're cheering him on not only pretending he's a woman, but also pretending that he's a skater? Why?!

JanieAllen · 29/01/2023 23:16

I took ballet for years I have expertise
