An urgent review is to take place. . The backlash must have been outstanding.

Unfortunately I’m sure there’ll be at least one Governor out there who’s solidly on-side with the Nats and who’ll go on record to say there’s no problem. He’ll be a man.

Recent reporting would suggest that prison staff bend over backwards to appease the most violent offenders, some of whom are currently trying to get a transfer to the female estate.

The blood-spitting, shirtless, specimen in court last week had already applied to be transferred a few years ago. RH’s statement on R4 this morning said she’d tried to block it then. Fortunately he did something to break the rules (again) and the transfer was dropped.

Doubt cast on Rhona H's opinion. By male.

I'd really like to hear from all the prison governors who disagree with her. I wonder if they can find any willing to speak up? Otherwise one might think they were figments of someone's imagination. Turd.

ExiledElsie · 30/01/2023 08:04

My "be kind" friend called this policy insane and asked how it had happened. Even the BBC can't stop the debate now.

Hmm - wonder whether all the other places where dodgy adults go out of their way to wedge male sex offenders in with women might start to review their dangerous policies? Now it's time to out the predators working for the NHS who are promoting sex offenders being given access to unwell women:

I couldn’t agree with you more, @MrsOvertonsWindow

ExiledElsie · 30/01/2023 08:01

And also "so they can do this in the male estate? As they do with other vulnerable male prisoners"
Bit like that anyway.

ExiledElsie · 30/01/2023 08:00

Wow, fantastic to hear this finally being questioned properly. "How did it ever come to rapists in women's prisons?" After he had been insisting how carefully they protect all prisoners.

2023username · 30/01/2023 07:58

A lot of waffle from Keith Brown

WarriorN · 30/01/2023 07:57

So they protect individuals who are vulnerable to organised crime....

Interviewer immediately points out they can do that in the male estate 👏

WarriorN · 30/01/2023 07:56

As in trans men?

WarriorN · 30/01/2023 07:56

What did he mean by trans gender persons? A review or they're not allowed in women's prisons??

BlackeyedSusan · 30/01/2023 07:54

Emotive reaction?
Pause To provide reasurrance...

BlackeyedSusan · 30/01/2023 07:53

Keith Brown ...

Statement by Rhona H

How do they I tend to work out who’s trans?

Exactly and why Julie Bindel says hard line no males.

"Finally, our ongoing policy review will be independently assessed by experts in women affected by trauma and violence."

For the love of god, they've probably have Mridul Wadwha on fucking speed dial.

you took the thought right out of my head…

I wouldn’t get too upbeat yet.

My bets are on a brief pause, followed by the claim that legal advice is that the men can’t have their feelz hurt / it’s discriminatory in some way.

Or they’ll do the same as they did for the GRR...

Claim they’ve done the most widespread and thorough consultation in the world EVAH (innit), without ever taking evidence from women, prison reform groups or anyone else who’d tell them it’s a fucking awful idea.

Try again.

I agree with the above.

I feel this "halt" is just temporary to let the heat cool down. Ladies we need to keep pushing and keep talking about this and put more wood on the fire.

I agree with this.

Untitledsquatboulder · 29/01/2023 23:12

This. Sadly.

Fucking fucks sake! You don't need risk assessments. You don't need experts. You just need to GET MEN THE FUCK OUT OF WOMEN'S PRISONS!

Ah, but that’s only what us boring normal people think.

TRSOH people, you see, have the special ability to perceive how complimacatedly performativicalistic multifactorializedly intersectionality [word salad] it is to carry out “case-by-case” risk assessments… Oh, but BeeeeeKind…

LadyMary50 · 29/01/2023 20:38

The wording is still too suspicious for me to relax yet.Until NO men are sent to womens prisons regardless of offences committed I will not take my eye off the ball.I’m glad it’s now in the public domain and in the mainstream media, that’s a start.Nicola Sturgeon is doing a fine job of alienating the majority of Scottish people by referring to those that opposed the GRR as ‘bigots’transphobes’and ‘racist’.Her downfall must be imminent surely..

EwwSprouts · 29/01/2023 20:23

Way too early to be counting any chickens IMO.

"A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: "We have commenced an urgent review of all transgender cases currently managed in our establishments." That doesn't read as a policy review (but a review of individual cases).

"...with a view to determining the most appropriate location for the individual to be accommodated" Nor does that.

"As the first minister pointed out last week, we must not allow any suggestion to take root that trans women pose an inherent threat to women." Blanket policy unlikely.

I hope any women harmed while this fucking stupid policy was in place sues them.

Same with any woman or girl harmed in hospital, mixed sex toilets, refuges etc etc

Wasn't the woman at the centre of the judicial review going to sue the MoJ? As I recall the judge said that the policy was lawful but that she could sue if the MoJ had failed to safeguard her.

Anyone know how that case is progressing?

Considering we were told that Bryson would bring the total of males in the Scots women's prison estate to 7: out of the other six...

One is Scott: at the end of a life sentence and too dangerous to be released, still multiply assaulting
One is Eastwood, who cannot be released, serving life for murdering a cell mate with a shoelace
One is Green, serving an 18 year sentence for murder, has been moved for inappropriate sexual activity with female inmates

It has come to light today that Dolatowski was one of those in the female estate (having battered a male inmate) with a history of sex offending against girls, and has been released.

These are the ones who have been 'risk assessed' as fine to pop in the female estate. Wtaf are the ones still in the male estate like?

Is this not creating a rather concerning implication that a lot of the males who are known to have been put in the women's estate were and are dangerous, violent and with a history of predation on women? We're not talking about the nice gentle one who's done a bit of fraud (and has had complete surgery) as the tv presenter talking to Julie Bindel was trying to paint a picture of.

Sorry, delurking to double-check. Is it true that Dolatowski has been released?
