@VodkaKnockers you won’t regret it, I promise.

I certainly won’t, I am in a hotel room and my husband is looking after the kids and the numerous pets, I am going to have the longest sleep I’ve had in about 5 years. And, I’m so excited about tomorrow.

My little girl (7, but so tiny) wanted to come with me and meet the ‘suffragettes’, I told her that tomorrow wasn’t the day. But one day, when women meeting doesn’t enrage men so much, she will be able to come with me. I’m here for her.

VodkaKnockers · 04/02/2023 23:41

I'm just trying to sort out childcare. If I can, I will be there.

Coming on my own but fuck it, this is important. We need and should be heard

Whatthechicken · 04/02/2023 23:30

I am in Glasgow now, wearing a feminist t shirt, a lot of us have been in a pub wearing feminist stuff, no issues at all (and the sisterhood is amazing, so empowering). If you’re in any doubt about tomorrow, come anyway, come early and scope it out for yourself, and leave if you’re not comfortable. Wear scarfs, masks, hats if you need to. But tomorrow will be significant and you’ll be so proud you’ve done it. You’ll be a part of something and able to say that you were there. It is so worth it. I’ve said before, I’m happy to meet anyone in a public space to walk down with them, just pm me.

@FemaleandLearning I am now feeling completely unprepared and underdressed for tomorrows antics 😂

Not the sort of clothing in my wardrobe I am afraid Grin

I know quite a few of us who are wearing Merkins in honour of Elaine Miller!

JanieAllen · 04/02/2023 21:44

@thedaywecaughtthetrain I will send you a DM with my number and we can arrange thank you.

I live in Glasgow and would be getting the subway to Queen Street station

My professional body is also captured. It will be hat, scarf and probably face mask for me and keeping head down.

You're braver than me. I wish you luck. Thanks

Calyx72 · 04/02/2023 20:59

@thedaywecaughtthetrain DM sent Smile

I would love to attend but like Calyx's friend I'd be too scared to be photographed.

My professional body has expelled people for expressing opinions it considers bigotry.

On the M6 now just changed drivers. 4 of us coming. Really looking forward to it. The Standing for Women stewards are fab and totally on the ball. It may be loud if the protesters are allowed too close. Incredible they call us fascists when they don't want our voices heard. So you may not hear much but I go for the atmosphere and to support and watch it on you tube later.

For those worrying you will be well looked after, I love chatting to the other women (and blokes), it's so interesting seeing what peaked people. I totally understand my first one was worrying (Nottingham) but gets easier with each one (I've been to Manchester, Brighton, Cardiff and London).

See you there!

4 of us too from England! We're leaving in the morning.

I’d also like to point out that the weather is forecast to be 7 degrees , dry with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze, which has been arranged especially for those of you coming up for England, to make you feel welcome in Glasgow 😀

Thank you!!

We're leaving at 5am tomorrow!

Looking forward to seeing the sun!! Haha

Can't wait to see you all!

How did it go?

thedaywecaughtthetrain · 04/02/2023 20:04

Calyx72 · 04/02/2023 19:38

I'm thinking of going. Would be alone and nervous. 50 years old and frightened to go to a protest at George Square! My friend is too scared in case she is photographed and her work finds out.

Happy to meet you on the train or at the station if it encourages you to go as stated before I feel terrible that I am even hesitating going

Bit late now but I'd love it if all the women attending wore bright pink leggings with some socks stuffed down them and a choppy blonde wig ...

I was at the Forth Valley women's festival today and the organisers said that if anyone was by themselves, there would be groups they could join at Queen St station. The festival was great btw with some fantastic speakers.

Oh I didn't know anything about that event today. Thanks for the information, that's great to hear

2023 and women are afraid to attend a 'Let Women Speak' event. How did we get here?

Sad

Is there anyone else contemplating going that is travelling on the train from Stirling arriving Glasgow 11.09 and would like a buddy? In most circumstances I am perfectly content to do things myself but this situation is putting doubt into my mind - pathetic I know. Just thought I'd ask and someone can talk some sense into me.

Jesus Christ.

Look, I know you are all grown women able to take care of yourselves, but for the love of god, take sunscreen and plenty of water. We may be fearsome feminists but we are all vulnerable to heatstroke.
