Wtf is going on? Another violent man being moved to a women's prison in Scotland. A man so violent they can't even take him to court and NHS staff refuse to treat him.

Yeah it’s better than nothing but no where near good enough

it’s really very simple: all men should be removed from women’s prisons

Signalbox · 29/01/2023 17:34

Also this wording is a bit specific isn't it? Does this mean that TW prisoners with a history of violence against other males will be allowed to be transferred?

"No transgender person already in custody with a history of violence against women will be moved from the male to female estate"

"No newly convicted or remanded transgender prisoner with any history of violence against women (including sexual offences) will be placed in the female estate."

When a male person with a TQ+ identity in a female space, claiming the privilege of being allowed to do and say anything with all the females there silenced under threat of transphobia, and who may or may not turn out to be awaiting conviction as a violent sex offender?

Yes the trans part is the inherent risk to women.

And even if the male person is not a sex offender, their maleness is excluding women from that space. Just by walking in they have presented a risk to women's inclusion and equality of access.

FlirtsWithRhinos · 29/01/2023 17:17

"As the first minister pointed out last week, we must not allow any suggestion to take root that trans women pose an inherent threat to women.

"Predatory men are the risk to women. However, as with any group in society, a small number of trans women will offend and be sent to prison.

ARGHHH!!!

we must not allow any suggestion to take root that trans women pose an inherent threat to women. Why not? We accept men pose an inherent threat to women, which is why sex segregation exists in the first place. What's so special about trans women that we can say it about men but not them?

However, as with any group in society, a small number of trans women will offend and be sent to prison.

But it's not just "any" group in society, is it? Different groups have different patterns of offending. All female groups pose lower risks to women (not zero risk, but lower) than all male.

So angry with him fudging the issue! Trans women offend like men so it's entirely appropriate to treat them as men when assessing and managing the risk of their offending!

Feministwoman · 29/01/2023 17:05

Yes, it doesn't mention reviewing the existing Men in Women's prisons

About time. Hope England, Wales and NI follow

It’s good news but the cynic in me thinks this is their way of waiting for the public outcry to die down before re implementing another awful policy. Also I wonder what happens to the men already in the female estate?

Excellent news. Some common sense has finally prevailed.

Oh I so hope some stupid TRAs don't know who they are and think it's real!, and then think what they fuck they're right this is Fucking nuts. There is hope for these ones.

Unfortunately a lot of them will watch it and think yeah makes prefect sense to move them into the women's after they've beaten a man. They are the ones who are Mens rights movement all the way.

Boiledbeetle · 29/01/2023 15:29

I was using Buck Angel as an example of how extremely masculine appearing trans men would not necessarily be a comfort to women in sex segregated groups

apologies to Buck for turning them into a criminal in the following scenarios.

Surely how they reacted to Buck would depend entirely on what Buck was in prison for? Just in the way men react differently to prisoners serving time for varying crimes?

Accountancy fraud but generally placid and nice to get along with, always buys everyone crisps on Tuesday no issues, they'd probably want to be Bucks friends.

Accidentally killing a man that was attacking Buck, they'd probably look up to Buck.

Serial poisoner of women that looked at Buck the wrong way, the prison officials would separate Buck into a secure wing, for the other women's safety, I would hope.

Keep Prisons Single Sex are on the Andrew Doyle show this evening on GB News. About 7.40 apparently Smile

But what about the bloody Guardian and BBC!

Because of their selective reporting people, kind good people, really don’t know this is going on.

TheClogLady · 29/01/2023 14:59

Post on the transgender uk subreddit.

They are SO close to getting it.

What do all the sex offenders they’ve counted up, Tory and Trans, already criminally convicted or currently facing allegations have in common?

They are all male!

Most sex offences are not reported, let alone prosecuted…

NO MALES IN FEMALE JAILS!

I do it every week, but I highly recommend carpet bombing the "Rest Is Politics" Q&A request thread with questions on this topic. I've helpfully sent them the clip of Julie Bindel this morning and asked them to think about interviewing her 😜

Enjoy Julie Bindel taking no prisoners this morning on GB news - and ask yourself why she's not been interviewed by the BBC, the Guardian etc?

twitter.com/bindelj/status/1619665344041484289

Is it cos she is a right wing transphobic bigot who has only taken an interest in women in prison to attack trans people?

I remember feeling shocked at the bluntness of women stating material reality when I first rocked up here, which was during my ‘OK, there is something really fucking weird happening with the trans movement but surely we can still find a compromise that works for for everyone?’ phase.

This exactly describes my experience too back in 2017.

I think they’ve been quite open about the fact that KJK changed their mind.

TBF, the very first time you hear someone say, out loud, bluntly and without apology ‘Transwomen are men’ it IS a bit shocking and it can take a while to properly calibrate it.

Which is testament to the successes of the transactivists over the last two decades.
The wheels are coming off the transbus now, of course.

I remember feeling shocked at the bluntness of women stating material reality when I first rocked up here, which was during my ‘OK, there is something really fucking weird happening with the trans movement but surely we can still find a compromise that works for for everyone?’ phase.

Once the the straight talking women of Mumsnet FWR had helped me to understand (and indeed, I saw for myself) that the current wave of trans rights activists will not accept compromises such as additional third spaces for sleeping/dressing/toileting etc and that when they say TWAW they mean it literally, not metaphorically or wistfully, and they intended to impose that falsehood onto us via policy, bureaucracy and eventually law…

… I stopped being such a pollyanna and worked on my own straight-talking skills!

It’s been interesting watching public profile men on a similar journey (women tend not to speak publicly until they are already very solid on the issue, for fairly obvious reasons), not just KK and FF of Triggerpod but also Douglas Murray, Brendan O’Neill et al.

GailBlancheViola · 29/01/2023 13:45

I can't remember if it was earlier in this thread or on another but a poster bizarrely did make an argument around a human who had lost a leg. The 'transphobia' of saying that the sex is immutable in humans was compared to being somehow 'phobic' to a person who had lost a leg.

Their point was so poorly drawn that it's hard to relate with any sort of sense.

FGS, seriously??? Just when you think their argument can't get any lower or any more idiotic....

Waitwhat23 · 29/01/2023 13:45

I am so, so grateful that Scottish women have MBM. This thread is outstanding -

Let’s just hope NS never gets a parking ticket she can’t pay cos showering naked with no protection with a violent sexual predator seems a step beyond the usual sanctions (that women face for time inside for non payment of fines ie speeding, TV license, etc).

OK maybe she’s lucky and skips shower time, there’s always forced meal times. Or exercise times, or a shared cell, or maybe a make-up tutorial.

You know what, I don’t care how pink, or frilly, or femme name a man adopts He.Is. Not. My. Problem.

Her time is not his validation.

@Blister I’m so sorry 💐

It’s an interesting turn around from the lads who have consistently felt that what about vulnerable transwomen prisoners’ was some kind of gotcha when talking to KJK

look like their views are maturing (aka becoming more logical)

I think they’ve been quite open about the fact that KJK changed their mind.
