Wtf is going on? Another violent man being moved to a women's prison in Scotland. A man so violent they can't even take him to court and NHS staff refuse to treat him.

Seems that the main assessment for risk is whether or not the person has a history of violence to a specific "gender". So clearly Men who are in prison for violence against other men are considered not to be a risk to women.

This is clown world.

This is an interesting thread on twitter. @ AlessandraAster submitted an FOI to the SPS and received a template of the risk assessment used for men who claim to be women.

I'm not sure "robust" is a word I would use to describe this document.

I can’t get round the paywall but the date of this article suggests Katie was released mid-January, which coincides with Westminster blocking the GRA reform.

I’ve been reading on Twitter that Katie Dolatowski has been released from jail on licence recently. Convenient timing if true.

"It's being male that should exclude you, full stop".

They are really going to be in a farcical situation if they try and make it anything else.

These men don't actually want to be women, they want to be their idea of a woman. And a man wanting to be his stereotyped idea of a woman, does not preclude him from being violent.

So are they going to separate them into violent and nonviolent? Because if that's the case, every single male prisoner, and there are tens of thousands, will ask to be transferred. Why wouldn't they? They get to go to a woman's prison, with all the violent men left behind.

So you've got mixed sex prisons, all based on crime, and it's nothing to do with transgenderism at all?

I know I've said it before, but I get struck afresh, almost weekly, about how ridiculous this all is. It's insane. Thank God other people are seeing it too.

Signalbox · 30/01/2023 10:52

Kate Coleman on how dangerous Tiffany Scott is and how absurd it is that SPS were even considering this transfer...

It seems more and more clear that there is either something psychologically disturbed about NS which is driving her to to push disturbed men on to vulnerable troubled women, or she just has a fixed, rigid personality and she is digging in because she is determined her might is right.

Signalbox · 30/01/2023 07:21

Stugeon seems completely determined to lock women up with predatory men. What a horrible woman.

However, although Sturgeon agreed with the charity Rape Crisis Scotland that a rapist should not be housed in the women’s prison, a source close to her confirmed that she does not support banning trans women convicted of other sexual offences. Instead, such offenders will be subject to individual risk assessments by the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).

Would presumably create quite the ripple effect re: other uk politician’s attitudes towards the transgender movement?

God let's hope so. I imagine Kier Starmer is watching on with apprehensive interest.

It would be grimly ironic if the transgender sex offender topic did bring about the end of a ‘feminist to my fingertips’ female first minister’s political career.

Woah, this could be very interesting. Surely the end is in sight for Aunt Sturgeon.

I have no idea if these reports are true, but if they are we could be in for a VERY interesting week ahead. When’s FMQ’s again? 😜

It’s also interesting they’ve announced this on a Sunday. Suggests they really really want to put a stop to all the press coverage asap. This must be doing Sturgeon some serious political damage.

I'll be interested to see what happens this week. All the chatter I've seen is that the MSP's who voted for the GRR are looking at the plaudits the rebels are getting and wishing they voted differently. They're also getting a lot of correspondence from constituents. Thousands of SNP members have left since December. This stuff is on every front page. People who weren't aware of any of this stuff are talking and are horrified. It genuinely feels like a bit of a turning point.

It's gone from 'not valid' to 'SPS has iron tight safeguarding' to a humiliating climbdown. I think Sturgeon et al are hoping it'll all blow over and the SPS review can be kicked into the long grass but fortunately, there's too much focus on it now.

Let’s just hope NS never gets a parking ticket she can’t pay cos showering naked with no protection with a violent sexual predator seems a step beyond the usual sanctions (that women face for time inside for non payment of fines ie speeding, TV license, etc).

OK maybe she’s lucky and skips shower time, there’s always forced meal times. Or exercise times, or a shared cell, or maybe a make-up tutorial.

You know what, I don’t care how pink, or frilly, or femme name a man adopts He.Is. Not. My. Problem.

Her time is not his validation.

@Blister I’m so sorry 💐

It's OK. I'm of the opinion now that I can't blame my parents for my mistakes. I dont frame my life around them. I'm old enough for these to be my decisions and my mistakes.

TheClogLady · 29/01/2023 18:32

The timing of the Bryson case really has been fortuitous.

This half hearted review isn’t enough - I don’t know how it works in Scotland but we should really be pushing for a public inquiry as to how the fuck men are wandering about, cocks out, in the female prison estate.

Even if you were being a naive wally about the inherent risks males pose to females and swallowing all the vulnerable Hayley Croppers guff, surely the fact women prisoners are sharing shower blocks with bepenised males is enough to make you go ‘hold on a minute’?

Trying to put myself in the mindset of the Be Kind Brigade (rather than the outright TRAs) and I’m pretty sure they would at least expect male trans prisoners to be using showers at a different time slot to female prisoners? Whereas Amanda up thread has bravely made it clear that the only thing between a naked female prisoner and a male prisoner is a shower curtain.

Even a mixed sex changing village at the swimming baths has lockable cubicles and swimsuit-on shower policy. These women don’t even have that much protection, and they can’t just fuck off home and self exclude due to being incarcerated!

Not that self-exclusion is the answer to any of this but at least it affords a slither of personal agency, one that these women do not have.

Is it cos she is a right wing transphobic bigot who has only taken an interest in women in prison to attack trans people?

It’s sometimes hard to tell which posts are being facetious.

This pause only applies to prisoners with a known history of violence against women.

He's no danger to women. Acquitted in 8 cases of rape. He as no history of violence towards women....

Copied tweets...

No. Not good enough. This is arse-covering BS from a group of "politicians" terrified the house of cards is going to come crashing down. This is buying time in the hope that this issue will go away. I trust neither SG nor SPS to "protect female prisoners".

This is intended to be a holding-pattern pending the outcome of the @ scottishprisons review. Given the "tenacity" with which the Sturgeon government has clung to TWAW for all circumstances, the vitriolic attacks on those who dare to challenge

the disgraceful abuse of process throughout GRR & the sheer amount of political pressure required to remove Adam Graham to correct what should never have happened, forgive my extreme cynicism regarding the intentions behind this statement.

Forgive my belief that once NS believes that this has died down, it will be "business as usual" with dangerous male prisoners allocated to the female estate once more.
