Wtf is going on? Another violent man being moved to a women's prison in Scotland. A man so violent they can't even take him to court and NHS staff refuse to treat him.

A woman was raped in hospital and it took her a whole year for the NHS to finally concede that she was raped, because they had maintained she couldn't have been because no men were in the ward, despite them knowing there was.

As it's an offence to give a false statement to the Police, I'm still bemused that whoever told the Police that it couldn't have happened, because only women were on the ward, has not been charged.

Datun · 31/01/2023 15:02

*weren't true

Datun · 31/01/2023 14:59

I suppose that is the difference between us. I just don't assume that most trans people are identifying as trans to be manipulative or predatory. That's why I would always use preferred pronouns etc

Well, I'd be really interested to know whether, if you did think they were being manipulative, and had successfully convinced the people around you of things that you knew were true, you would simply use the right pronouns.

Because I bet you wouldn't.

This petition to update the Equality Act to make clear the characteristic ‘sex ‘ is biological sex,

is precisely about this.

Let’s get rid of any confusion.

I don't assume all men are manipulative, predatory or violent but I know damn well that some are and they are indistinguishable from the men that aren't until it is too fucking late, the same applies to transwomen bearing in mind that they are male, they have to be male to qualify as transwomen it's the number one criteria.

All males, no matter how they identify, whatever they have done or not done to their bodies chemically, surgically or cosmetically must be kept out of all women's spaces and services FULL STOP, THE END. I care not one jot whether that upsets them or hurts their feelings, the majority of males manage not to cry into their beer about not being allowed into female single sex spaces and services, they accept it and in fact welcome it because they know full well what members of their sex can be like and they value the safety, privacy, dignity and comfort of women.

Not one male relative, male friend, male acquaintance or male colleague of mine has any problem accepting and sharing male sex segregated spaces and services with transwomen - not a single one and they are not unusual in this therefore the cries of transwomen aren't safe in male single sex spaces and services is just emotional bullshit and it's high time it was exposed as such.

No I'm not going to flounce! It's not some big secret surely? If someone tells me they are a trans woman and told me they used she/her pronouns I would assume that they wanted me to refer to them as a woman. I don't have any worries that this person would believe they were literally a natal woman but that they felt trans (a feeling I can't relate to) and so had transitioned. Though I can't imagine what it must be like to feel trans, as someone who lives in a world where characteristics, physical, emotional, aesthetic and social characteristics, are associated with not only masculinity and femininity but deeper than that into maleness and femaleness, I have no problem understanding that gender dysphoria and a sense of not identifying with your biological gender is real. The fact that people put up with abuse and discrimination and that they ask to be referred to as the opposite of their birth sex tells me.

I genuinely don't understand what the whole confusion and I don't understand how the fact that there is a definitive reality of biological sex conflicts with the idea that someone could have a gender identity.

If it's about gender identity and not biological sex, why are there so many males in female sport?

Look up Lia Thomas, laurel Hubbard, rachael mckinnon, hannah mouncey, etc.

Sport has nothing to do with gender identity. It's about sexed bodies. So why are these males competing against females?

Datun · 31/01/2023 14:20

If someone is acting oddly I would avoid or report them, whatever is appropriate. Regardless of sex or gender identity.

It's the naivete that gets me.

Women have bloody reported these men, and have been sacked, harassed and intimidated. And not just by transactivists and their allies, but by their own bosses, heads of department, and people in authority all the way up the food chain.

A woman was raped in hospital and it took her a whole year for the NHS to finally concede that she was raped, because they had maintained she couldn't have been because no men were in the ward, despite them knowing there was. It was only Baroness Nicholson's intervention that finally made them fess up. What is that if not state sanctioned rape? Report away.

And private health is no better. A woman in a private hospital had her fucking operation cancelled, purely on the basis of her views on this subject.

Posie Parker has had a police visit, where they admitted it was because she had been 'untoward towards paedophiles.'

In your head CandlelightGlow, your viewpoint and comments probably sound highly rational and fair. But you are dealing with the nationwide implementation of an ideology so comprehensively divorced from reality that it is truly insane.

All these women would have loved to have reported these men, and had some kind of recourse. They tried and were punished. And make no mistake, there are thousands. Why do you think 'no debate' has been so successful? People aren't willing to jeopardy their livelihoods or safety. They're scared.

And avoidance leads to what?

The total exclusion of women from their own spaces.

Nah.

nilsmousehammer · 31/01/2023 13:59

When you ask women to permit male access to them that no other men are permitted, simply on good faith and hope that statistically the odds will be in their favour that this time they won't be harmed?

And you ask nothing at all of males in return, it's all rights with no responsibility?

And this has been driven to the extreme point where a double rapist was able to enjoy this privileged access to non consenting women and make them extremely uncomfortable before he received the conviction that justified those women in saying they were unhappy and uncomfortable?

It's gone past all tolerating.

NicolaSturgeonsSOGIbottom · 31/01/2023 13:44

I suppose that is the difference between us. I just don't assume that most trans people are identifying as trans to be manipulative or predatory. That's why I would always use preferred pronouns etc

The vast, vast majority of predators are male.

And biggest group of trans people in 2023 are teenage girls and young adult women who identify as transmen or as nonbinary, so of course we don’t assume that most trans people are predatory!
That would be completely nonsensical of us.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 31/01/2023 13:04

I think we’ve lost our fellow participant

i guess she sees herself as ever so reasonable, much better than all these nasty women being mean to vulnerable men

she’s so sure of herself that she’s happy to come here and throw insults around (transphobe). But not sure enough that she can actually articulate what she believes and why when challenged

sorry to single you out CandleLightGlow, but I am so very, very tired of the rudeness of the self righteous

Boiledbeetle · 31/01/2023 13:00

nilsmousehammer · 31/01/2023 12:46

If someone is acting oddly I would avoid or report them, whatever is appropriate. Regardless of sex or gender identity.

You mean as the trainee beauticians did when Bryson behaved inappropriately? And were scolded for being transphobic and some stopped attending the course because they couldn't cope with what Bryson was doing and were too afraid to say anything further?

The fact that Bryson later was convicted of a double rape changes nothing.

Bryson was enabled to go into female only spaces where those females were vulnerable, in ways no other men are permitted to do.

Bryson's behaviour was protected by people insisting on women being kind, generous in interpretation, to examine ones own prejudices, and Bryson had a lovely time. Didn't he?

Because his identity is was a magic exemption from usual standards. Which is why women here are being scolded for not being sufficiently polite, kind and careful of men's feelings in their rage that killers and rapists are in female prisons under this appalling ideology.

had the woman raped in hospital and told she couldn't have been it was a single sex ward been mentioned yet?

I do appreciate that honestly, but I suppose that is the difference between us. I just don't assume that most trans people are identifying as trans to be manipulative or predatory. That's why I would always use preferred pronouns etc.

If someone is acting oddly I would avoid or report them, whatever is appropriate. Regardless of sex or gender identity. There's a trans woman who volunteers at a service I use (a service completely unrelated to any sex segregated ones). They're lovely. I don't look at them and think, "ew, I bet you're getting a kick out of wearing your hair long and putting a skirt on." That's a horrible and transphobic assumption! What's the justification?

Did you know that Grayson Perry, beloved, eccentric, national treasure, used to wear voluminous skirts in order to hide his erection when he was walking around dressed as his alter ego, a little girl called Claire?

You have no idea what's going on in these people's heads.

You say that many trans women are a victim of gender stereotyping. And agree that, yes, it's inherently sexist.

You've answered your own questions, really. This is a feminist board. You won't find women here meeting male demands to further their own sexism.

If you need further proof of how damaging it is, there are many examples. The girl guides, for instance, an organisation set up to support girls, in a sexist world, found themselves throwing out masculine girls and welcoming feminine boys.

Butch lesbians are being told they can't possibly be girls, they must be boys.

Transwomen like Paris lees claim there's nothing better, when identifying as a woman, than being treated like a piece of meat.

Shon Fae's advice to youngsters is suck dick, get tits early.

The perpetuation of sexism, as being an inherent characteristic is utterly damaging.

No woman anywhere should be advocating for it. And you're actually on here, a feminist board, telling feminists that not doing so is unkind to men.

Ffs. 'Deadnaming'. We know why Isa or Annie wanted to rid the name now. 'DEADNAAMING' is another one of those infantile terms that we were all supposed to fall in to line with.

Two years after my FIL's death my MIL was still receiving bills with his name on despite being notified at the time of his death. Did she demand £5000 compensation? NO, she was upset at times but dealt either it like an adult.

That sounds truly shit. 💐

Dealing with Home Office bureaucracy is positively tortuous, I had hoped it was better now due to technology (we had to do the ‘queue outside the Croydon building from 4am’ thing several times) but if anything it seems worse!

I don’t even know what thread to post on anymore but did we miss this article?

Well that’s a turn up for the books. Not only is Isla (or whatever his name is this week) a TW but a budding trans activist and grifter. Perhaps the SNP could find room for him on one of their “lived experience” advisory panels. He’d fit right in.

“It’s not just me, it’s for children who are coming out and who are suffering the worst from other children and their parents which is disgusting.”

BT apologised for the mix-up and offered Bryson £140. But she said: “It’s had a seriously emotional effect on me. They’ve tried to buy me off but I said I wanted £5,000 in compensation.”

Over the years there has been much discussion on this board about the use of preferred pronouns so for those of us who have arrived at 'no' it has been a journey and is a considered opinion. This article explains the danger of preferred pronouns:

This. They completely fell for their own propaganda that the GRR was only actively opposed by a handful of unreasonable bigots.

Anyone who thinks getting a GRC is hard should have a go at bringing a foreign born partner to settle in the UK via the Fiancé/Spouse Visa > Indefinite Leave to Remain > Citizenship route

And not to mention that it costs thousands more than a fiver. Or that the authorities, against their own government guidelines, refused to accept my wife's language qualification, as she'd done a paper test, just before they went digital.

And language schools wouldn't accept her recently expired home country passport, despite Home Office legal advice and two letters from our MP, with Government headed paperwork.

He had to get her special permission to get a biometric ID, which she wasn't really entitled to, as bank cards, UK driving licence, college pass certificates, marriage certificate etc etc etc weren't enough proof of her identity.

That sounds truly shit. 💐
