A woman has been found guilty of raping two women

A woman has been found guilty of raping two women when she was a man. Happened in Scotland. She hasn’t been sentenced yet - but where will she serve her sentence? In the womens prison?!
This is going to mean some serious discussions and tough times for the Scottish government. But it was surely only a matter of time before something like this happened.

Exactly how does deciding to transition mean you didn’t rape two women?

What else does transition absolve you of responsibility for?

I couldn’t believe that his defence used his Trans status as justification for raping women! Wow! Just wow!

Well, that's it, isn't it? That's the heart of the matter. The point of it all. The whole fucking point of it all. Woman as costume is the get out clause.

I'm so angry right now. If this person goes to a female prison then I'm going to lose my actual fucking mind.

Despicable. He could mention this man's "vulnerability" without implying that his suffering is as great as that of the women he raped. It's all a bit Guardian NYE Cologne.

If they are willing to turn up to court, where they are being tried for rape, so blatantly displaying their very male penis then one can only imagine how comfortable they will be demonstrating their masculinity in a female prison.

I think what will be interesting with this is that, unlike some of the other cases, this isn't remotely under the radar. It's been very widely reported on and as a result will be much harder to quietly pop them in Cornton Vale.

Also, credit is due to the DM photographer yesterday who very much did not, ahem, miss the point...

I could almost understand (but of course not condone) the rapist saying it as presumably that’s part of the fetish, but the lawyer should know better. It’s a disgrace and it makes me angry, so angry for his victims

Care for the victims of sexual violence seems to be an extremely low priority for the criminal justice system.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read. What next? 'The person who robbed the bank had dark hair and I've since dyed mine blonde so clearly I didn't do it' says the man caught red-handed?

I thought it disgraceful how little time was given to this on the lunchtime news, it barely got a mention but they spent the next 5 minutes or so on proposed changes to fox hunting.
