India Willoughby: I am more of a woman than JK Rowling will ever be

India has stated this on Twitter.

Doesn't it tell us a lot about how genderism rests on social stereotypes? How is India 'more of a woman' than someone born female?

Um don't you have to be a man to be a legal woman with a GRC? Women don't need a GRC to be a woman... they need one to become a legal man. You actually have to have a sex for the grc to apply?

Well if self id is brought in I might be tempted to give it a go!

If I self id into the sex that I actually am, then I can be at the top of the hierarchy in my sex class.

I can then be used as a comparator for discrimination.

So we are letting this GRC holder use the single sex space so we are not discriminating against GRC holders.......

🙌🙌🙌🙌

Are we being deleted for stating IW is a biological man? (Which is she is). Christ.

BordoisAgain · 24/01/2023 06:49

IW is still a man though.

Deleting this comment won't make it less of a fact

I shouldn't have to feel this way and have my identity as a mother/ woman and biological need to protect my children completely invalidated
I honestly don't get this though - as a mother, woman and with a biological need to protect my children too, how is being inclusive of trans people taking away anything away from my "validation"?!
I'm still a woman and always will be, regardless of stances on anyone who is trans

In Belgium this year there was a big announcement that for the first time ever the federal government was 50/50 men and women: First time so many women ministers. Big celebration for women's rights. Only it wasn't. It was 11 men, one claiming to be a woman, and 9 women. I don't know how to explain to someone like you how this is not only incredibly insulting but demeaning the history of women and just incredibly disrespectful for every single suffragette and feminist from the past. It invalidates and erases our history of oppression. It invalidates feminism and the great strides we made. It invalidates our own class in law, in society and culturally. How do you not get this? HOW??

It's referring to you. Read your own post back, and I think you'll get it.

I don't make appointments to post, and I have read my post back and you seem to be completely misunderstanding it (purposefully, accidentally, who knows anymore?!)

Now that we know, please supply your planned posting schedule for the week ahead, so we know to expect you.

You should have had mine I sent it via PM you never check them do you!

I'm at the dentist again in Thursday morning,

I didn't say being inclusive of trans people makes me feel this way, it's the need to put trans peoples 'needs' above the needs of biological women and an agenda that pushes ( without question) its views and ideology upon children and even encourages children who are finding their sexual identity hard to navigate to consider transitioning and actively encourages the use of irreversible treatments before children are probably capable of really understanding the physical and mental impact.

I just drop in and out as I fancy, without prearranging it
So do I, not an actual clue what your post is going on about, sorry as if you're thinking we can drop in and out as we fancy I'm in complete agreement

RedAndBlueStripedGolfingUmbrella · 24/01/2023 01:54

I'm sorry, I didn't realise you made appointments to post
What's that referring to? I haven't said that at all, so why are you quoting me like I have, think you've misunderstood my comment somewhere?!

The idiom is used to express a general encounter or meeting with someone, especially when it was not expected
Why would it not be expected? Unless you only ever expect to encounter an echo chamber of views in here

I'm sorry, I didn't realise you made appointments to post.

I just drop in and out as I fancy, without prearranging it. Is there a Google Calendar that we should be booking ourselves on in advance, so that other mumsnetters can anticipate us?

No-one told me, so I never knew who was going to appear on a thread until they'd posted. Sorry for doing it all so wrong! <wipes sweat from brow>

UniversalAunt · 24/01/2023 01:40

There goes India mansplaining again.

MaryBerrysCamelToe · 24/01/2023 01:33

I'm starting to become quite scared of these people pushing their agenda on women and expecting the masses to accept their claims.
I'm scared I will say the wrong thing and land myself in trouble.
At work, at the school, when chatting with friends and colleagues, I worried I will not use their 'language' and 'misgender' someone or say something others find offensive.
It seems like having an opinion on puberty blockers and transitions in children or even promoting women's rights and protection our space is seen as being bigoted and anti- trans.
I feel like it's walking on eggshells in all aspects of this subject.
I shouldn't have to feel this way and have my identity as a mother/ woman and biological need to protect my children completely invalidated.

So sick of having to explain the meaning of simple words these days

Like woman, man,

Boiledbeetle · 24/01/2023 01:21

cross paths meaning

encounter or meet someone by chance.

unexpectedly come across somebody.

The idiom is used to express a general encounter or meeting with someone, especially when it was not expected.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 24/01/2023 01:19

Cross paths with, blimey, really?! I've only come across your name a few times and yes, we have differing views

In this sentence, you acknowledge you have encountered Boiledbeetle.

Hardly crossed paths though, unless disagreeing with you is crossing paths now?!

What the gilded goldfish do you think "crossing paths" means?

It's idiomatic speech that means you have encountered someone! It's imagery to convey that sometimes you pass someone going somewhere, as you are on your way somewhere else.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 24/01/2023 01:13

Hello again, Golfing!

What do you think about India's homophobia, as shown here?

We've already covered that India uses the word "transwomen" in posts, and just objected to Esther using it. While making a huge deal of Esther's race... You didn't comment on India claiming Esther owed her career to "woke" either. Confused

I think with this one because technically the law says I W is one thing and the same with RMW it's not abstract discussion as such.

I was trying to be careful to not mis gender and i didn't think i did, so i presume it was for another reason as i was replying to another poster who i have previously crossed paths with so I'm assuming it was something i said to that poster rather than IW.

Or i forgot and fucked up as this tablet always autocorrects to male versions of words. Sexist piece of crap it is.

You were replying to me so I'm assuming you mean me here?

You didn't say anything to me worthy of deletion but calling someone an arsehole and going on to misgender to boot, dunno why you think that would be left standing as it clearly goes against guidelines 😕

MeanCanadianLady · 24/01/2023 00:56

@DietCock also diet cock. Love it! I think we all need to start doing inside joke usernames. 😂

MeanCanadianLady · 24/01/2023 00:55

DietCock · 24/01/2023 00:25

Clearly not!

I am not really upset about it anymore but it has changed my perspective on humanity greatly. I grew up reading books with themes like “Good always conquered over evil” or “there true will always prevail” and I guess those things aren’t always necessarily wrong but… evil and lies will certainly do a great deal of destruction before they are defeated and it’s quite possible that “good and truth” could take an entire life time to get their shit together!
