Not sure if this has been discussed here yet but on wombling through my Twitter feed I found this picture.

Why on Earth would any venue so happily trumpet their involvement with this?

And I fund the black bloc - and it's fucking scary how much real bile went into this.

I hope some one sensible is taking note. This can't go unchecked - can it?

Yes, it's being investigated by Police Scotland.

I have posted a thread in politics. I'm still feeling absolutely sickened by it the day after. There is no way these politicians should keep their jobs.

Hate speech against woman the gender? Or against cis-women (much as I hate that term).

Shelefttheweb · 22/01/2023 13:10

The Hate law hasn’t been enacted yet.

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2023 13:01

'This could be charged either as common law breach of the peace or as threatening or abusive behaviour contrary to s.38 of the Criminal Justice & Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010'

SockGoddess · 22/01/2023 12:56

It's incitement to violence/a threat to kill, does that only matter if it's against a protected group? I think it's illegal whoever it's aimed at isn't it?

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2023 12:47

Yes, it's being investigated by Police Scotland.

Who knows any more?

Hate speech against what though? The Scottish hate speech laws don't apply to sex. Could "terfs" go for hate speech against a belief? Or are there still incitement to violence laws that could be used?

LizzieSiddal · 22/01/2023 11:46

It would be interesting to see The Police’s response if someone made an official complaint re hate speech.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 22/01/2023 11:41

"agree or death"

How very liberal.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 22/01/2023 11:39

And now it seems that the man who tweeted about running down KJK and friends has been identified - info passed on to Police!

I wonder if fantasist Teddy Hope is or was involved with this venue? Teddy briefly attracted media attention by pretending to have been verbally abused at some local SNP meeting in 2021. I seem to remember the handle on twitter was bonjourteddy or similar.

MidsomerMurmurs · 22/01/2023 10:57

It’s not a photo of a ribbon, so Police Scotland will say it’s not a police matter, obviously.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 22/01/2023 10:56

I haven't found anything yet. They've been focussing on "we vet our officers, honest!"

FionnulaTheCooler · 22/01/2023 10:55

Have Police Scotland made any comment on this hate speech?

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 22/01/2023 10:54

Maybe if they think they are going under they have nothing to lose?
