'Stewart McDonald, Kirsten Oswald, Kaukab Stewart and Alison Thewliss were at the Glasgow protest to support the trans community and stand up for Scotland's democracy.'

That's them standing in front of a sign that says 'decapitate terfs'.

Again, I'm genuinely fucking shocked. This inflammatory, violent rhetoric is not acceptable.

So it is doing the cause no favours? And yet everyone who was there didn’t take the signs from their hands and shove them in the bin. (the I EAT TERFS and DECAPITATE TERFS signs - there were probably more signs like these too)

The signs weren’t small. They were seen. And so to me that suggests that the folk it is doing ‘no favours to’ are accepting of the sentiment.

The only folk it is doing no favours to is women.

And no mealie mouthed statement is going to change that. Don’t say it caught attendees by surprise or that they didn’t know it was there or that this sort of thing is rare.

It didn’t.

They did.

It isn’t.

I will wait for the SNP to involve Police Scotland with regards to this hate speech and inciting violence. Because that is what it is.

In. Plain. Sight.

I wonder what the number of dodgy signs is gong to be once every part of the crowd the politicians walked through, stood with, looked towards etc had been checked.

Then let's see them pretend they never noticed a single Fucking one.

CriticalCondition · 22/01/2023 16:41

I've been thinking about this very carefully painted sign which obviously took some time and thought to do and the choice of the word 'decapitate'. It's not exactly the obvious choice for a placard is it? It's quite long, not very catchy, possibly tricky to spell, a very specific means of execution. Why not dash off a snappy 'Death to Terfs'? I think it's quite telling that it involves the severing of a woman's head from the body, the separation of the thinking, feeling part from the collection of flesh. What's left is a woman's torso with limbs. The more I think about it, I think it's quite a disturbing insight into the mind of the person who wrote it.

Another of the MPs filmed in front of the sign decries it, unfortunately using an ableist slur as he does so:

'The violent sign at yesterday’s rally is utterly heinous and condemned without question. I suspect it may even be unlawful. The moron who made it and is holding it has done those protesting for trans equality and democracy no favours - quite the opposite.'

twitter.com/StewartMcDonald/status/1617040613265874944?cxt=HHwWgIC90dn38PAsAAAA

Nope. I'm not having this.

THEY KNOW.THEY FUCKING KNOW AND THEY CAN FUCK OFF WITH THEIR PATHETIC EXCUSES.

they support the trans activists and support what they stand for. They stand for decapitating women. No ifs. No buts. These people support that sign. I, and the internet will never forget or forgive.

WarriorN · 22/01/2023 15:13

Well that's right out of the abusers handbook isn't it?

"You made me do it!"

Christ, JKR has tweeted about the 'man' who threatened her, Rosie and Kellie Jay online, and India Willoughby has popped up with 'well you've pushed them to the end of their tether'!

And major media outlets continue to employ this deranged angry man?

India Willoughby? Vile man!

StephanieSuperpowers · 22/01/2023 14:50

I wonder if it was wrong for any reason other than how it makes trans people look?

Very good, @Boiledbeetle

Boiledbeetle · 22/01/2023 14:18

A message to those that still don't get it

THE RIGHT SIDE OF HISTORY?

Does this look right?
Everyone?
Can you see yet?
Are you still blind?
Perhaps you missed it?
It was there in plain sight
There were
A lot of signs
Telling each and
Every one of those politicians
That tried to deny the
Evidence
Right there!
FUCKING HELL
Seriously?

DECAPITATE TERFS??

WAKE UP

This charming protest was directed towards Meghan Murphy when she was speaking about women’s rights in Toronto.

Thanks for the source correction!

Bit worrying that placards advocating guillotining politically inconvenient wimms is an international phenomenon!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/01/2023 14:01

Oh ok. I found it on another thread or maybe it was a Twitter link alongside the one being discussed - sorry!

Whereareyourshoes · 22/01/2023 13:54

TheClogLady · 22/01/2023 13:37

This is the second one.

Anyone who goes to these lengths to conceal their face surely knows they are up to something shady?

MargaritaPie · 21/01/2023 17:15

Was it this one?

A lot of people turned up to support trans rights. KJK will be green with envy because she can't get anywhere near those numbers of supporters.

I don't understand your point. More people with probably more placards with more offensive threats to women who won't obey?

ArabellaScott · 22/01/2023 13:45

That cardboard guillotine is not from yesterday.

I think it's Canada, a while back.

Excellent! There were at least two placards though. The other one was shaped like a guillotine and was aimed at 'Terfs' and 'Swerfs'.

This is the second one.

It's opportunism from the SWP. See a large movement for something or other and try to recruit from it. They bring the placards and hand them out, so most of the people with the placards are not actually SWP supporters.

DressingForRevenge · 22/01/2023 13:26

Next time you’ve got to play “shag, marry, eat” with the Johnson family? 🤷‍♀️

What’s with all the SWP placards ? Do the SWP really care about this issue or did they just fancy a coach trip?

MarshaBradyo · 22/01/2023 13:25

Male violence untempered as it is with gender issues is hideous to see

Waitwhat23 · 22/01/2023 13:24

One sign appears to have said 'this time it's placards, next time it's not'. A strangely non explicit but ominous threat.

DressingForRevenge · 22/01/2023 13:20

I’m not convinced big crowds on a Saturday lunchtime in Buchanan street are indicative of huge support... most people were probably just tying to get to John Lewis.

Come back with your numbers for the forge on a cold Tuesday February night and then I might care.

I don’t know one single person who actually believes any of this guff outside of those being paid by the public purse to clap like seals.
