'Stewart McDonald, Kirsten Oswald, Kaukab Stewart and Alison Thewliss were at the Glasgow protest to support the trans community and stand up for Scotland's democracy.'

That's them standing in front of a sign that says 'decapitate terfs'.

Again, I'm genuinely fucking shocked. This inflammatory, violent rhetoric is not acceptable.

Someone has just now started one

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/01/2023 09:26

I think it needs its own thread.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/01/2023 09:26

I really hope someone in the mainstream media picks it up.

CriticalCondition · 23/01/2023 09:25

Bloody hell. That Wings over Scotland piece.

Maybe they think it «allies» them with the French Revolution?

Which descended into a frenzied bloodbath with all the guillotining and decapitations you can wish for if you are a violent nutter.

»glorious right side of History» is perhaps what they are aiming for.
Violent hard of thinking, irrationally angry dude is the result though.

There is an interesting quote from the time of the revolution that I need to look up the author of, but it essentially goes:

If you decide that the sacrifice of one is worth it for the happiness of the many, then you will decide that the sacrifice of two or three is worth it for the happiness of the many. And you will eventually agree that the sacrifice of the many is worth it for the happiness of the many.

All these movements begin with identifying a group that are subhuman to you, and are disposable in your aims, and it is right to treat other humans like this if they have the characteristic that makes them lesser than you.

It might be their not belonging to your empire, it might be the colour of their skin, it might be that they're homosexual, it might be that they politically disagree with you.

The characteristic selected for shouting death threats and using them for sexual depravity varies across the centuries, but the behaviour doesn't.

I've been thinking about this very carefully painted sign which obviously took some time and thought to do and the choice of the word 'decapitate'. It's not exactly the obvious choice for a placard is it? It's quite long, not very catchy, possibly tricky to spell, a very specific means of execution. Why not dash off a snappy 'Death to Terfs'? I think it's quite telling that it involves the severing of a woman's head from the body, the separation of the thinking, feeling part from the collection of flesh. What's left is a woman's torso with limbs. The more I think about it, I think it's quite a disturbing insight into the mind of the person who wrote it.

It has become normalised.

When you have aggressive outbursts written and verbal from MPs, and a generation that has been fed the lies that they are victimised by someone not getting their pronouns right and taught this is an act of violence and genocide, and those acts justify violence, threats and hatred there is little room to move.

Those activists from the past decade knew exactly what they were doing. They dialed up the fear and instilled it into an entire generation who thinks nothing of their own behavior, because it has been indoctrinated into them as ‘righteous’.

Right side of history, innit.

I think when they say they didn't see it, they mean they didn't notice it and imo that is by far the bigger problem.
Violence against women is so widespread that its become just background noise. That sign would only not be 'noticed' if you don't notice vaw.
It's a big part of the issue here. Trans women are only the most vulnerable if you don't notice violence against women. "It never happens" can only be trotted out if you don't count the cases when it does. And so on.
But these weren't random members of the public turning a blind eye to vawg, they're elected representatives making a photo opportunity out of actively campaigning for equality.
Every one of them should resign. If they couldn't see that sign, then they're incapable of representing women.

I think unfortunately this probably nails it.

This extremity of unacceptable behaviour has become, as someone much cleverer than me said yesterday, 'not news, merely weather'.

This has just become normalised behaviour for this particular political movement, and those soaked too long in it have lost all sense of proportion and acceptability. And apparently a basic grip on right and wrong.

I realise they have to make a story readable but I did raise an eyebrow at this:

"The phrase appeared on a sign..."

It's a "phrase" now, is it?!!

It's an imperative instruction.

NorthernLights2023 · 23/01/2023 08:42

The real problem is that they chose to attend a rally knowing that they typically involve real violence or threats of violence against women. And they did this knowing that a trans activist has already murdered lesbians in the US. But let's not forget that there were also Green politicians and Lib Dem ones who were also there. All of them are there to endorse these violent thugs.

Tbf the nazis loved dressing up, being obeyed and oppressing women - oh, they don’t mean them do they? They mean us “who should obey”.

I am so angry that FEMALE politicians are doing this. Shame on them.

There is no chance of the Scottish police taking action on this
Truly shocking

applesandpears33 · 23/01/2023 07:38

This reference to Auschwitz and the Nazis is ridiculous. Based on their logic, if you go too far to the left you end up with Russian style gulags.

Helleofabore · 23/01/2023 07:31

How funny though, that those extreme trans activists and politicians supporting them didn’t seem to get the memo though. You know, the memo that tells them to ‘be kind’ and to not bring their movement into disrepute!

That these activists should’nt be using violence to threaten anyone, and threaten women speaking and to stop leveraging genocide and the Holocaust to emotionally manipulate people.

Oh. Yeah. Guilt by association only works one direction. And leveraging or appropriating other
groups is so well established by the movement that has relied on doing that to change the application of laws away from what has been written in Hansard as definitely not in the scope of the law, or creating new laws, that it is par for the course.

The double standards must surely be well understood by now.

And it's hit the daily mail as well! Lovely photo of the sign.^

So, we'll probably now see JK Rowling fined for a disability based hate crime, whilst the TEZs get away with actual abuse...

FrancescaContini · 23/01/2023 07:22

The references to and comparison with Auschwitz are of course ludicrous and absurd as well as absolutely appalling.

People who bandy around casual threats or encouragement to “decapitate” as well as using history’s most recent example of the unspeakable atrocities meted out towards millions of people are, quite simply, absolutely beyond the pale.

I’m so pleased that the mainstream media is finally reporting on this group of thugs because I can see that certainly as far as my own family and friends are concerned, the penny is finally dropping.

Gender ideology experiments on children, many of whom are autistic.

From one of the speeches:

"This city, and this country is all about being who you want to be and importantly standing against... I've seen first-hand when I travelled and I used to visit a place called Auschwitz.

"And within Auschwitz it's very, very well-known about all of the atrocities that were done against Jewish people. But also when you go in you understand why we have protected characteristics because some people were experimented on because of disabilities, or because of their sexual preferences, or just because they weren't the right party.

"We cannot allow our society to go further and further to the right and please, please let's stand up against anyone that wants to do that."
